Are you new to the LGBTQ+/MOGII sub-community in April? Join in and say hi!
First off I want to take a moment to welcome you to the LGBTQ+/MOGII sub-community forums! I'm Emotions, I identify as she/her. I am a community mentor and chatroom moderator for the LGBTQ+/MOGII sub-community here on 7 Cups. Hopefully we can connect here in the forums and/or you can join in one of our group discussions.
To navigate the forums I recommend filtering by topic as a good place to start. By filtering for discussion and resources you may find a variety of discussions on different topics that affect LGBTQ+/MOGII people. Maybe you’d rather join in some fun with an icebreaker?
Are there challenges you feel you have faced as an LGBTQ+/MOGII person? Maybe you’d like to share yours or learn about the challenges others have faced by joining in this discussion!
If you’d like to be notified about check ins, discussions and other fun events, think about adding yourself to the subcommunity taglist here!
Maybe you prefer group chats, if so join us in the LGBTQ+/MOGII Support chatroom(teens click here, or adults click here). You can also check the community calendar here to find out about upcoming scheduled discussions.
This month we will celebrate International Asexuality Day (Apr 6), the Day of Silence (Apr 14), and Lesbian Visibility Day (Apr 26) as a community. Events for each may be hosted here in the forums and/or group chats so keep an eye out and join in!
If you’d like to share:
What are your preferred pronouns? Do you identify with any LGBTQ+/MOGII labels in particular?
April is often known for rain, and with rain come rainbows, so what are some things you like about rainy weather? Do you hide out indoors or head out with your umbrella?
Can you think of any topics you’d like to talk more about?

Hello,
since I was tagged after I somehow subscribed to this community 😄 I now feel obliged to say a few words too.
In general, I'm mostly facing issues that are not related to the LGBTQ+ community. But I'm not able to simply overlook the world around me, which is, putting it lightly, not always as welcoming as it could be. In conjunction to being introduced to some LGBTQ+ related topics (thanks to a podcast) I simply became curious how others are doing and what kind of issues I'm still unaware of. And a casual chat in a group of open-minded people doesn't sound all that bad either.
Oh, you can find my "identifying labels" 😁 in the "About You" profile section.
I guess there is one thing that I could benefit from – exploring my gray asexuality and possibly aromanticism. I hope that eventually I'll be able to find a partner, but honestly have no idea on how to approach it.
In any case, not sure whether I'll be posting in the forums much, I'm mostly participating in the support chat, So no promises there, but will see. Have a great day everyone!
@Mel2248
Thanks for joining in, there is no obligation to participate in the forums but it is good to see you here as well.
While what you are facing may not be issues surrounding being LGBTQ+, having a space where there is a default "acceptance" like the LGBTQ+ community can make it safer to seek support with our struggles. I find my LGBTQ+ identity has never been on my list of issues, but I prefer to deal with those issues in a space where if my sexuality comes up, non-acceptance won't be an issue. I imagine others might also say the same.
Overall, thank you for taking a moment to say hello, I look forward to seeing you in chat and if you choose here in the forums as well!

Hello and welcome the the LGBTQ+/MOGII Support subcommunity. I'm sorry to hear you have recently lost your friendships, that sounds like it would be a complicated situation. I hope you have been and will continue to find new connections here, as well as in your offline life. Is there anything that helps you to feel less lost and alone?
Again, welcome.

@EmotionsListener My name is Ezra, I go by he/they. I identify as Asexual, Panromantic, Demiboy.
I love the sound of the rain and sometimes, I go out and dance in it. I love to see it outside my window and hear the sound of rain hitting the ground.
I would love to learn how people deal with awkward families who say they are supportive but don't act that way.
@EzraYourLocalTrans
Welcome!
Dancing in the rain sounds delightful. That reminds me how much I love the petrichor (smell of the rain) especially in the spring.
Dealing with a family that is 'supportive in words only' can indeed be a challenge, because if you call them out on their actions, they will deny vehemently and repeat how accepting they are no matter how loudly their actions say otherwise. Sometimes it's simple microaggressions other times it far more blatant than that.
I know for me I mostly just try to accept that family member where they are at, and save my energy for changing minds that are open to change. But it does limit my interaction with that family member, they sort of only know a sliver of who I am, because that's the sliver they have the ability to see.
I hope you can find more support, connection and ideas here. Once more, welcome!
