Confusion and Mirrors

I look in the mirror and I see myself and I wonder why I can't seem to be a woman, I am a woman physically but when I see myself it doesn't connect. I'm so confused, I want to be a woman but I can't seem to be, and I don't understand why. I am AFAB but I want to be a woman. I've struggled with the concept of gender for a long time but this has just been keeping me up tonight. I stare in the mirror and don't see a woman when that is what I want to see.

@AssumingVillage Hey there I hope things are doing better. This is a serious problem that should be talked thoroughly with a therapist or someone close to you. I hope that everything will get better and that you will figure it out for yourself. You don't have to be too worked up on it because it will hurt your mental health, just be you and what you think you are, not all men or women will have the characteristics of the stereotypical men or women, so don't be too worked up on it. I myself am a guy but I like and find that the color pastel pink is really aesthetic and pretty. It doesn't make me a women; finding a feature or something that is not stereotypically normal is fine because that is what makes us all different as humans. I hope that this message helps you and that everything will get better.

@AssumingVillage I am also AFAB and I felt that way for a while. I may not fully get your experience but I do understand that wanting to be a girl so bad but no matter what you can't. The looking at yourself and feeling shame. I recommend talking to someone about this. Learn about different genders and find which one is truly you. Try dressing in ways that make YOU happy. I know it will be hard to do this stuff in an unaccepting/unsafe place but just experiment and find who you are. It is okay to not be who you were as a baby. It is okay to be who you were as a baby. It's your identity.
