Dysphoria

I’ve recently been really struggling with gender dysphoria (16 MTF). I hate everything about my body and just wish I could be a real girl. Everything about my shape, features and certain biology just disgusts me and I don’t know how much longer I can do this.

@aquaCat9715 I hear you, feeling like you're trapped in a body and an identity that doesn't feel yours is a constant weight that crushes you day by day. But you don't have to be alone with this. My wish for you is to find an amazing support network, people that can truly see who you are and embrace your identity fully, people with whom you're free to express yourself. Your body won't change overnight, but being able to express yourself, being addressed with a name and pronouns that feel yours, having a safe space to show who you are, that can make a huge difference.

Always give yourself space to be who you are. Even if it's just experimenting with clothing and other forms of gender presentation, don't give up on taking the time to feel like yourself. As you grow up, you'll have the chance to transition and change those parts of your body that give you dysphoria. Hold on until that moment comes, prepare yourself for making that change in your life, stay strong and hold on to who you are. No one can take that away from you.

I’m trying to do that stuff, my support network will get tired of me complaining about it all the time, I’ve tried clothes but it just makes me feel like a man in a skirt instead of a girl. Because of my country medical transition is rather difficult to get especially as a young person. I’m really struggling to hold on to that hope at the moment.

@aquaCat9715 I'm so sorry, living in a country where transitioning isn't easy must be tough. On the bright side, if you do have a support network, you have a tiny space for yourself to treasure. I know you feel like you'll become a burden eventually, but that's what loved ones are for: to support you and be there for you when things are tough. Not everything can be solved easily, there are tons of situations that are either permanent or bound to be there for a long time: I'm sure you would be there for a friend going through something like this, so why would your friends not do that for you?

Another idea could be to reach out to LGBT associations and circles near you. I don't know if there are many in your country, or if they're easy for you to reach, but sharing experiences with people who have gone through the same as you can be of great help, and you'll be sure they can fully understand.

As for your body, that's the toughest part. I know some trans girls resort to tucking or other tricks to feel more comfortable with their body, my wish for you is to find something that works for you and to be able to fully transition as soon as possible. In the meantime, save for it as much money as you can, start preparing, take care of your body. It might not be much, but working towards it, building a possible future brick by brick, might help you holding on until you get the chance to transition.

Whatever happens, don't let anything or anyone make you give up. You deserve to live your life to the fullest. I wish you all the best!

@aquaCat9715

I know this isn't changing biology, but what helps me with dysphoria is controlling other parts that can feel affirming like hair, accessories, clothes, etc. Even a bit of something "right" when I look at the mirror and see what/how i see myself actually helps. Is any of that doable?

I try with that but everything looks wrong on this body, anything I try makes me look like a man in a dress and it makes me feel disgusting

I understand it takes time but it’s the waiting that’s killing me, I’ve been waiting for 4 years I’m done with it. I still have to wait at least 2 more years and probably more, I don’t want to wait, I just want to be me.
