Gay and Growing Old

Anyone else really struggling with getting old(er)? I am a male and will soon turn 60. I’m in complete denial that I’m not the 30-something year old my brain still thinks I am. Not dealing well with the physical, emotional, and mental aspects of aging. Anyone else going through this?

@amicableCat3401

I'm 40-something, but just wanted to say that I relate to what you're saying. I think about these things quite a bit. Not sure what to do with any of it.

@amicableCat3401 I'm not in that age range yet but I know for sure that what you're going through is very common, especially for queer people. Unfrotunately, the lives and experiences of elder gay people aren't often discussed or represented, therefor it can be hard for a queer person to figure out how to deal with aging and how to imagine their life from that moment on.
I don't know where you live, but you can try to look for queer circles or support groups near your location, you're likely to meet more queer people of your age range and that can help you both feeling less alone and re-imagining your life in this new phase by sharing experiences with other queer people going through the same. Sometimes there are even age-specific meetings. Community life can be a good way to "get unstuck" when you're struggling.
