Hello, everyone im a 24 y/o male. I just came out to three people who i thought i could trust (my sister, sister in law, and my sister in laws sister) i know a bit confusing 😆. Anyway coming out was very hard as my sister was basically railroaded by the whole family when she came out and i just found out that my sister in laws sister had told a few people about me coming out and boom a rumor has already sprouted (im moving about a thousand miles away) and the rumor is now im only moving away for a guy. Im really upset over the fact i was outed by someone i trusted and who knew i wanted to take my time coming out. Im not sure if I should say anything about it or not (my sister in law and sister has my back regarding it all). Also, not sure if its even worth my time. This whole thing is a mess and im starting to feel like i shouldnt have even came out to anyone.

I really hate the idea that anyone has to hide who they are. It's so unfair that anyone has to deal with the anxiety of deciding whether or not to reveal who they are. And people who can't keep a confidence really don't help. Gossip feels harmless, or "just a bit of fun". But it isn't. And in this case it was particularly harmful.

I'm sorry you were outed in this way. I'm sorry you now have to deal with the consequences of someone else's lack of thought and consideration. I can't imagine how you feel. But any anger, frustration or resentment is all totally valid. I'm a big believer in forgiveness. But sometimes the only thing is to be p*****d. I hope sharing helped you feel a bit better.

@versatileBunny9406 That sucks! You trusted someone and they let you down, and that can be incredibly tough to handle (sadly, I have a lot of experience in that). Coming out is a moment meant for you, and you should be able to feel safe talking about your identity!

Clio9876 mentioned forgiveness. I look at forgiveness this way: that's not for them, it's for you to gain clarity and closure. You don't have to forget what they did. Heck, you don't even have to tell them you forgive them. Take your time when you take that step, and right now just worry about how you'll move forward.

Much love! We're here for you, hun!
