hey there!

i am a teen (m), and i currently feel like i am gay. in my area, everybody thinks that being gay is weird and disgusting, people often joke about other gay people they see. so i really dont have anybody to open up to in person. i would want to but i couldnt handle everybody thinking i am weird and id loose my friends, even my family thinks it is weird.

what would you do in my sutuation? does anybody have any advice? i just want to open up to somebody in person but i cant because there is just nobody that i trust that wouldnt tell it onward. its just weighing me down a lot and i feel kinda depressed about it tbh.

@tommakaron

🥺

I'm sorry you are struggling and you have no one to talk to .

Growing up is hard, experiencing different feelings, not knowing what or who to turn to.

You are not weird or disgusting at all.

Never forget that.

It's important to not put any pressure on yourself , you are coming to terms with alot of things at the moment, and in time, you'll feel more comfortable.

Is there a trusted teacher or counsellor in your school to talk to?

💕💜

heyy, thanks for your replyð§¡, it really does mean a lot.

from what i know, our school doesnt have any counselors nor do i know any adults that i can open up to. my only option is finding people online, which kinda sucks (no hate, i just think it would feel better to talk to someone in person), but better than nothing.

@tommakaron

Oh I hundred percent understand you, theres no substitute for talking to someone in person but you are only young, so please don't go online and reach out to any inappropriate people, who only seek to take advantage. It might be good for you to join the teen community here at seven cups 🥰

@tommakaron

My thoughts are to find people who are also gay or in the queer community. Do they exist? Are there safe (allies) in your community or even online? (even here on cups!)

They can be able to help sort through some of these feelings and considerations you have. This journey can be lonely and difficult when there are homophobic people around, but there are also people that care and want to see you thrive <3

2. LGBTQ Center Search

@tommakaron feeling so lonely and not being able to express yourself really is a heavy burden, especially at your age. Coming out can be liberating but also hard, it's up to you to decide whether or not you should do it, and with whom. You don't have to pressure yourself into coming out if you think it's not the right time, place and more importantly the right people to come out to. Safety first, metal peace first. If you don't feel like you can handle it right now, it's ok to wait.

Still, it's totally normal to want someone to talk to! And I'm pretty sure there are also other queer people near you with the same need, but maybe they don't know how to meet each other either.
Is there any LGBT asociation, circle, or support group in your area? Even if some people there might be older than you, it can still be great to open up and exchange advice and experiences with someone who's been through the same!

If that's not possible, you might want to reach out to a counsellor in your school, it's not the same as talking to a fellow queer person, but they're still someone with a non-jugmental approach that can hear you out.

Also, keep your eyes and ears open for open-minded people: when you meet new friends, new people, look out for signs that they might be open-minded enough to see and accept LGBT people as they are. When you find someone that you feel safe with, you can consider getting closer to them and eventually building enough trust to open up.
Whatever happens, don't let anyone make you lose faith in your future. Better days will come! I wish you all the best on your journey

@tommakaron I don't know about the area you live in, but if talking to queer people online is also good for you, you can look for Trevor Space! It's an online community for young LGBT people aged 13 to 24, which means you'd probably get to connect with people around your age as well
