My long-term girlfriend & I have been struggling in the physical sense for years. She claims she just isn't interested in being sexual anymore? We are still incredibly close & intimate in the more emotional sense? Any thoughts or insights???
@starshine117 I guess communicating is the way to go. There could be a handful of reasons why that is. Stress or (new) medication can lessen the sex drive. It's key to talk about how you two feel about the relationship and about intimacy in general. I'm in a long-term relationship with an asexual man and it was weird for me at first too, but we talked about what kind of close-ness and intimacy we're comfortable with, so it's fine. People can express love very differently. We all have our love languages. Maybe it's time to (re)explore your love languages. :)

Im experiencing the same thing. Both my girlfriend and I are married to men ( I'm separated from my emotionally abusive one and hers is gay) In the beginning of our relationship we couldn't get enough but now... she doesn't seem to want me. It hurts me. I know it's not all about sex but still ..

It depends on the person and/or couple. It can be real because women in the way we are built, do not generally have as high a sex drive as men. Not true for all women however. I for one go through spurts. For a month at a time I can have a really high sex drive and want to have sex all the time, whereas some months I don't want to have sex at all. I'm not sure why this is, maybe it has to do with when hormones are being released? Either way, a healthy relationship only requires you to both be happy with the way things are going. If you and your partner are ok only having sex once a month for example, and it works for you guys, then that's great. If one partner has a higher sex drive than the other, then maybe that is something that the couple needs to talk about.
