A lot of research work has been done which suggests that patient people enjoy a better life, have better mental health, kinder relationships with others and even achieve their goals with less stress.

Unfortunately no. Patience has never been a strong suit of mine, especially when it comes to irritations from other people. I'm like my late father that way. I used to have tremendous patience when I was more active as an artist...those "three situations" would've been when I was working on a drawing that took weeks to do. These days I still have patience for it but not as much. The main reason is because I am not young anymore, so there isn't so much time to get it all done.
For dealing with people, the only real exception was a girlfriend I had during my college years. She was a wonderful woman but we had religious differences...those bothered her far more than they did me. I had great patience with her because I knew she was worth it...she was of a quality you don't find too often. Even then, I only had so much of that. No one can be patient forever. Eventually I let her go, though it was difficult. We were still friends for a while afterward, & I hope she found a man more spiritually suitable for her.

Working on a drawing for 3 weeks definitively needed a lot of patience!
Staying patient in age when things become harder to understand and there is simply not that much time anymore can be challenging. I hope mindfulness helps you to keep your calm when needed.

It was for the best. Relationships in general can be difficult as it is; they take patience, understanding & effort, not to mention compromise. Some things cannot be compromised. For religious people, their faith is one of them. I never asked her (or even implied) to do so but she did learn, early on, that I did not take kindly to being preached at. 😂 But I respected it as much as I could & to the end, I accepted her for the woman she was. But it just wasn't good enough. Apparently the NT addresses this situation in some verse about two people being "unequally yoked". I don't know which book it's in but the metaphor makes sense.
Ultimately, interfaith relationships are tougher by an order of magnitude at least...I don't know of many that last into the couple's golden years.
