A lot of research work has been done which suggests that patient people enjoy a better life, have better mental health, kinder relationships with others and even achieve their goals with less stress.

Can you mention one to three situations in which patience helped you to deal with challenges without going too much into detail?

Patience really is a virtue!

I try my best to be patient and take a pause when there's conflict or disagreements within my family or friends. Because I found most of the times it's just a miscommunication matter and If I were to react to the situation immediately it would probably add fuel to the fire.

So, I believe patience is important because it gives us time to make better life decisions 💜

Good point about miscommunication! Often, when we step back and think about it again the situation appears differently.

legal stuff - patience allowed me to accept it, think clearly, and work towards a legal judgement in my favor!

health stuff - patience is allowing me to deal with living with long covid and the slow, long road to recovery

social stuff - patience allows me to build friendships that end up lasting a long time and being deep and meaningful!

Patience in the home:

Being that I have little time to have family over I do try to make an effort at making a wonderful dinner for them. And I make sure I have a great movie lined up afterwards. But there are times when they are late...considerably. Rather than lose my patience, I keep myself calm and do my mindfulness exercises along with what I'm grateful for. Both work in conjunction with each other. I don't become upset and we have a wonderful evening visiting everyone.

Patience in the workplace

Sometimes when patients have to have tests done; they can become frightened and confused. Rather than rush the patient through an explanation and put pressure on them; taking a step back and allowing the patient to validate their feelings and learn all they can about what is happening allows them to come to a realization that this is in their best interest. I try to give support and remain there for whatever needs they may need. Patience plays a big role in this.

Patience with strangers

Although sometimes I'm in a hurry; I don't think about how others may be feeling or experiencing in their lives. I had a woman in a van who was parked next to me at my bank. She started her van; it wouldn't turn over. She tried several times. No luck. She put her head on the steering wheel and didn't move. I came out and got in my car but I noticed her. I remember asking her what was wrong and she told me her van wouldn't start and she needed to pick up her daughter at school. I was in a rush for time. But I figured I could wait to do what I needed to do and I took her to the school to pick up her daughter. Then to the mechanic to have her car picked up. I had the patience to help someone who needed help. If I hadn't, she may have had to wait a long time to pick up her child. ❤️

I often wonder how some salespeople can keep their cool sailormoon97, it must be truly difficult at times but patience makes a customer feel safe and also more likely to make a purchase.

I find that I have been growing my patience over the years with waiting in lines/ dealing with customer service/ dealing with other customers. I used to get all kinds of angry and frustrated, but now, I relax, breathe and wait in line. Waiting in long lines really helps to train you to be patient! :)

@thoughtfulmomma

Nice that you could improve your patience! Dealing with customers, customer service or standing in long lines are actually good ways to check on your patience skills and to improve them. I too used to get frustrated waiting in long lines. Now I always try to remember that we're all in the same boat, all want to get through and many have it worse than me because they might have to go back to work or have an appointment. It helps.

@energeticWillow4306

You are encouraging your son to become independent by giving him the opportunity to make his own decisions. This is great and will help to build his confidence but I can imagine staying patient is not always easy.

It's never easy to sit and watch when you know your child is making a wrong decision, I wish for the best outcome.
