Letting yourself be happy
Daily Check-In February 6th to February 8th 2026
We all want to be happy all the time; I know I certainly do. But can you truly be happy every moment of the day? We all strive to avoid letting things upset us, bring us down, or interfere with our happiness. We want to embrace joy without being judgmental, acknowledging and praising ourselves for the moments that go right in our lives.
In a way, happiness has become the new anxiety. When we are happy, we smile more, feel giddy, and walk with confidence. Happiness comes from doing something for ourselves or from the good deeds of family members or friends that make us smile.
Sometimes, we may be afraid to be happy. When things are going well, we worry that making a mistake could cause that happiness to vanish. The idea of being happy might seem silly, but it's quite common.
Happiness can come from a relaxing day or even moments of laziness. We strive to be happy ourselves so that we can share that joy with others. However, there are times when we feel pressure to maintain constant happiness, and that isn’t always possible. Unexpected challenges can arise, leading to fear, second thoughts, or even sadness and depression.
One effective way to cultivate happiness is to surround ourselves with positive people, rather than those who are angry or negative. We want to be around individuals who can make us smile and laugh, people who bring joy into our lives. It’s important to focus on the present rather than worrying about "what ifs," such as "What if I don’t meet the deadline for this project at work?" or "What if I had done this differently?"
The following are 5 examples of why we do not let ourselves be happy :
It disrupts our sens of identity: No matter how negative we are sometimes we seee it as being familiar, comfortable, and safe. Your inner voice is built on old attitudes. The negative ways we are viewed by family and friends seep into our subconsciouness.
Challenges our defenses: Our defenses are like amour, a wall we put around ourselves. If we have been hurt by familr or friends too many times we put a wall up so no one else can mistreat you can be hurtful in our relationships and careers.
It can cause anxiety: when we act on our inner voice, ianxiety can break our defense mechanisms down. We begin to doubt ourselves or others we come in contact with. We lower our guard back to being walked all over by others.
Stirs up guilt: When we are happy in the present we are breaking free from our past life. We strive to be happy so we are not always let down and sad. We become guilty when we are seperating ourselves from others, so we are who we want to be.
It forces us to confront pain: in many ways, getting what we want can also bring some pain. We strive to be who we truly are rather than what others expect us to be, which often leads to the fear of losing people in our lives because we understand what we want for ourselves.
We deserve to be happy, just like everyone else. Sometimes we encounter individuals who would prefer to see us broken, depressed, or fearful. However, it is only up to us to put a stop to those kinds of people.

What are some ways to stay happy?
One way to stay happy/content for me is to be grateful for how far I've come in my personal growth and for all the things that are there for us = Gratitude
@pamharley003
We can stay happy when we retain a sense of gratitude.
Whilst also staying true to what we really feel in moments.
And being allowed to process that.
Not pressurizing every minute.
Just enjoying every bit of happiness that comes our way.
Not always searching for it, but identifying in our daily lives 🤗💚
