Would you rather travel into the past or into the future?

What would you change if you could?

I would travel back to the past to see my dad again

@Samiam425

I wish that would be possible. What did you like most about your dad?

I’d go into the past with a current almanac and buy up stocks and bitcoin.

also I’d tell myself from 11 years ago to not mess up his relationship.

@spectre800

Bitcoins can definitely offer high returns but also high risks so it's good to be knowledgeable about the business.

I hope you can forgive yourself if something went wrong with his relationship.

Considering how I've been lately & the possibilities for my future...

If I could time-travel, I would probably go into the past to intercept the man who would eventually become my father. I would tell him in no uncertain terms to not start dating the ditzy receptionist he will encounter after his union sends him to the west coast to straighten things out there. If necessary, I would tell him what will occur if he does not heed my advice. Assuming that he did, it would mean either I wouldn't be born (the best possible outcome) or I would be & grow up to be an entirely different person. That 2nd outcome would be risky; the result could be great, terrible or run-of-the-mill...no way to know for sure, of course.

@slowdecline48

It must be hard to have this kind of bad self image. I hope coming here will help you to see yourself in a more positive way. 💙

@amiablePeace77 It's not about my self-image. I am well aware of my virtues & strengths. I could've turned out way more rotten than I did. The reason for my answer is that if I hadn't been born, I never would've gotten the health issues I have now & would never have suffered as much as I have in my life so far. To live is to suffer; therefore it is better to never have been born...& it is also unethical to bring new life into this world when one knows full well that the fate of all living things is suffering. Websearch "antinatalism" for more about this philosophy.

I would love to travel to the future, to the day right before I die of old age. I can relive the memories and enjoy them, albeit briefly, without having to suffer through the inevitable, painful moments.

@Jewelmoon17

I'm reading your post only now, very sorry for the late reply Jewelmoon.

I can only image what you're going through, all the pains, fears and the uncertainty you might experience about your father's behaviour. Alcohol can sadly change a person completely and make life for people around them and themselves very difficult. I don't know how approachable your father is to reach out for help. This is a link to the Alcoholics Anonymous https://www.aa.org/aa-around-the-world and this one for people living with an alcohol dependent person https://al-anon.org/for-members/international/.

If you travel to the future, wouldn't you have less time to live because you would be older and would have missed out on the years between now and then?

Interesting way to look at it. My motto is always "Life happens in the Now"
