Hi amazing people in mindfulness, I hope you all had a good start in the new week laugh

If you think about your subconscious mind as a young child and your conscious mind as the parent, everything that you say conditions a response of either fear or love, depending on your thought, wouldnt you be kinder and calmer to the child?

enlightened What would be the kindest thing you could do for your inner child to feel good?

@amiablePeace77

I'd do my best to think nicer things about myself and stop being hard on myself

@LexIris

Nice LexIris, it's much easier to encourage and motivate yourself when you see yourself in a better light.

@ResilientSerenity

Your inner child needs your help to feel safe and positive affirmations are a great way to do it to me.

I find the "Honest Guys" have very good positive affirmation videos.

The pool re-opened here so I decided to allow my best friend to come over and join me in a water workout, overcoming my fear of virus contaigons and accepting the need for social time exercising together in the water, sunshine after so long! Allowing myself to do things I enjoy again with people not alone, living without fear!

@amiablePeace77 this is something new that I have been trying out lately and that's just being more open about my positive emotions with others. I don't know if everyone else has had this expereince but when I look back to when I was a kid, I was so open with others and I wasn't shy about professing love or gratitude or longing for others. I didn't mind telling teachers that I was thankful for them. I didn't mind telling friends that I loved them. I didn't mind telling people I missed them after we were separated for a while.

As I got older and my social anxiety got worse, I convinced myself that these were weird behaviors. I grew up into a person that thought that if I told a friend I loved them, I would scare them off. If I told someone I needed help (or thanked someone for helping me), I would be percieved as stupid. If I told people that I missed them when we are apart, I would be seen as clingly.

I lost a lot of people in my life last year. Four people in a little over a month and I was absolutely devestated. Not only was I dealing with depression and grief but my social anxiety got soooo much worse. I was afraid to talk to people about ANYTHING because I was afraid of being emotional, I was afraid of what people would think of me, I was afraid to be vulnerable. In the last 6 months, I have been working on myself. To try to heal from last year's trauma, to try to grow into a better person than I was before this. Although my social anxiety has been with me for so long, I'm trying to envision a life without it. I'm working on it. And I think reverting to these old childhood behaviors has helped.

I am once again letting people know how irreplaceable they are to me. I am blurting out why I appreciate others before my anxiety can convince me not to. I am trying not to reserve my "I love you" to only those in my family. I am reaching out to people I lost contact with with. It still feels weird to engage in these behaviors but I think it's getting a little easier each time.
