When we practice mindfulness are we really connecting with ourselves? We tend to feel stressed when doing it our minds are overwhelming us to a panic and we try to do anything to calm down. We may sometimes meditate to incorporate both meditation and mindfulness.

We begin to connect to ourselves  by why we are reacting a certain way. We need to be grounded to ourselves. When we do mindfulness we first connect with our feelings and this helps by understanding we we are not grounded. Grounding yourself is vital for your wellbeing and to feel balanced and calm.

Here are some ways that may help you :

noticing your feelings when doing meditation and mindfulness

notice your reaction and feelings at any given time take a moment to notice where in your body you may be stressing.  Focus into the area and do breathing exercises to relive the pain.

Name the different feelings your experiencing : o

one word  like stress panic uncomfortable

Accept the thoughts and emotions your having:

Don't judge ourselves for the thoughts and emotions at that time. instead of judging ourselves understand the things we are going through to relax ourselves

Engage ourselves a activity only we can do alone

Walking outside in nature or on the beach helps us relax and reconnect with ourselves.

Practice self compassion

definition of self compassion  Self-compassion is a positive attitude we can have towards ourselves, and it’s also an empirically measurable construction

I got this video from a group discussion on either mindfulness or self-compassion, can't remember. I've found myself returning to it, finding it helpful (for any age).

  1. Some ways, I can be self-compassionate is remind myself that it's okay to have others not understand me.
  2. By not following suit if someone is name calling another, or allowing someone to tell me "they are more assertive/direct" than me. I know their statement is false, but out of growth I do not stoop to their emotional jab.
  3. Reminding myself that it's okay that I'm doing my best each day
