Reflections on my dating life (still had procrastinated it forever)
I am a bit of an over-thinker so I dont do much about dating cause fear. So if i could approach dating like a skill, like the social skill or learning a language maybe things could improve. I have difficulties connecting especially with strangers or opening myself to others, since I tend to be closed in my safe shell. I tend to make myself busy with activities, and so on. Very rarely I force myself to open to others and then I stop. My problem is most of the time I get myself busy with something so it feels like i am just jumping from one activity to the next. Go to the gym, do lifting, on rest, practice Chinese with my notes on phone or paper or practice drawing, i leave little or no time to socialize, probably cause I cant put up with the empty, repetitive, dull chit chat when socializing. Yet it would be nice to be more sociable and have a dating life and people to hang out with. Maybe i could try to organize things more within the agenda. I would appreciate to hear your thoughts.
thanks for reading done :) not sharing circle though . lol
@okeyyyy
Putting up with the repetitive chit-chat is sometimes what relationships are all about: how are you doing/feeling? what would you like to eat tonight? It's like a muscle you need to develop, only it's emotional/social and not physical. You said you already go to the gym (that's great!) ... now you need to workout your social strengths. We have to practice something to get better at it. I am an over-thinker too so I understand the challenges you have. Good luck.
@endorphin18 I also agree with endorphin here, I'm a huge overthinker, to the point where I plan out in my head how to approach someone and one of my coworkers pointed that out. It's great to see you going to the gym, which shows that you want to improve your body. To me social skills is also something you have to workout.
@endorphin18
I mean , talking on sports, talking on politics, etc and lots of phonies out there, sometimes life can feel like it can turn into a graveyard of everything becoming a chore and either you organize yourself with endless list of chores and then life feels like every day is the same groundhound day and nothing ever changes. Thanks, I will try my best, yay
You have to certainly give it a chance and socialize. I feel its really fun because I like to connect with people.
Slowly you will get used to it, to the extent you want.
@okeyyyy. Sometimes a language or art class can be a good place to meet people with a common interest. I have taken both language and art classes. I found it easier to make conversation in those situations.
