Daily Check-In March 20th to March 22nd 2026

Mindful breathing is the most common and simple form of structured mindfulness. Mindfulness exercises help us stay present in our lives. Mindfulness is often done with meditation, but they are not the same thing.

Mindfulness can encourage us to stay focused by helping you step out of past experiences, stress, anxiety, and depression and focus on the exact moment you are in. It helps you to become aware of your feelings and surroundings.

Mindfulness can be a hard exercise to practice. Some people do not know where or when to begin the practice, leaving it harder to do. You also may have trouble incorporating it into your daily routine in life.

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is being alert to what is going on around you currently. It can be the smell of your morning coffee or tea, nature walks around the block, and reflecting on your thoughts without judging yourself.

There are two types of mindfulness

Consciousness and awareness: this is noticing your thoughts, your feelings at the moment, and physical sensations in relation to what is surrounding you.

Focus on the present moment: seeing, feeling, tasting, and hearing what is surrounding you right now. This is keeping you connected to the present moment.

Mindfulness is usually combined with meditation, but they are not the same thing. Mindfulness is a technique where you set the time you want to do the exercises. When we set a time for mindfulness, it helps us get into the mood for breathing exercises.

Mindfulness is known to reduce any stress, anxieties, and depression we are having. It also helps us sleep at night, relaxing you into an easier way of falling asleep, and reduces any burnouts we may be experiencing.

Mindfulness is seen in our physical, emotional, and mental well-being. It lets you spot early signs of uncomfortableness and allows you to de-stress a situation before it happens.

Mindfulness can also teach us self-compassion, how to love ourselves. Rather than pushing away the bad thoughts, it teaches how to de-escalate the feeling or situation. Mindfulness can teach us how to slow down and think things out before acting upon them.

Mindfulness is honestly something I am trying to learn more about, as I'm not the quiet type, it's about incorporation and learning new things 🩷🤗

How do you incorporate it into your daily routine of exercising?

I practice yoga and tai chi; both help me to connect with body and mind in a mindful way.
