Earth Day Town
Hello everyone 
On April 22, 2020 the world celebrates Earth Day. 
Earth Day is an annual event celebrated around the world to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, it now includes events coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network in more than 193 countries.
The topic of this years Earth Day is Climate Action.
Today I like to ask you to help in building an environmentally friendly town for Earth Day.
Now, who is in for this, who wants to help?
Lets start in making a plan about what has to be made, what we need.
So here are some sections I selected already:
Houses - Solar heat and water, recycle gray water what features should an environmentally house have?
Lighting of streets (just added) LCD lights
Community Center - Have activities and exercises and Tai Chi - what topics would you like to discuss here
Gardens - veggie and flower and fruit any other ideas?
Farming - what kind of crops shall we plant? (just added)
Garbage - composting, compost papers how to deal with garbage?
Recycling - what are good ideas to recycle, what can be reused?
Forest - What trees are most beneficial to the environment?
Public transport - What are ways to get around in an environmentally friendly way? (just added)
Additional transport - Bicycles
So, this is a plan for now, we will start soon but
I like to ask for your suggestions about what OTHER SECTIONS we could add.
So please do not post your ideas what to add to a specific section but what sections you might like to add, example, water saving or electricity.
And here it is, how it will work?
We start building on April 22, which is Earth Day. When you come back here to the building site, you say what you like to do. To give you an idea what I mean is, for instance I would plant some moringa trees in the forst, because the leaves and very young pods are edible, they are very nutritious and the tree does not need a lot of water, so this would go under section "Forest".
So, guys, what do you think, who will help?

One thing I hate is Garbage, It's been something i've been trying to downsize in my own home. I would start a compost area so we don't throw away food. ( Another thing I dislike) I would find less plastic and buy or grow farm fresh.
Am I doing this right haha?

Those are definitively good points, composting helps so much and yes, plastic is harmful for nature.

Rumple, good question, I think the main post might have not been clear enough, so I learned something for the next time. So here is how it works.
At the moment we are gathering information how the project should look like, for example soulsings suggested as gardens, fruit, vegetable and flower so I added them (marked in red). When we start on April 22 Earth Day, people will be invited to say what they like (example now) to plant in the flower garden, what types of flower that again for example might help to attract bees, garbage (another example) you could add your idea about plastic pots .

@amiablePeace77 I really like this for Earth Day-thank you. I have been very mindful on how much plastic iscoming in the house. I've gotten market bags instead of those plastic bags. I've found small net bags to hold my fruit/veggies and not the plastic bags. I've not bought much if it is in plastic. The plastic we do have here we are gathering it up, cleaning it, sseperating by color. Then we melt it and make plant pots or key chain holders. Next my daughter wants to make some sandels. A little at a time makes a difference

Wow Rumple, those are interesting ideas. I personally love recycling, not that it saves a lot of money but it helps nature by reducing more and more plastic which is so harmful, particularly when thrown into the sea. Melting plastic is very creative but one needs to be careful with the fumes, remember the first time I did it, I forgot to wear a mask and got lots of headache.
