AWARENESS WALK

Hello lovely people, how are you doing today. Hope this week gave you some nice moments to enjoy.

This Friday I like to invite you to an awareness walk. This could take place either outside or inside the house.

At times, when going for a walk, we look at things around us but then our mind goes back into the story in our head, maybe we think about something which upset us or we start thinking about what tasks we have to fulfil during the day.

So I like to invite you to take 10 to 15 minutes on your walk in which you consciously notice what you see outside, the plants, the houses, feel the air on your skin, listen to the noises. If you are doing it inside you can focus on the details of furniture, colors, smells.

The essence of this exercise is to focus exclusively on what is outside of you, if your mind wanders bring it back gently and focus again.

Hope you will enjoy the exercise. Let me know how it went. laugh

My outing went great with your suggested idea, i could feel more, connect more to the other souls and the materialistic things around like natural beauty, surrounding sounds and could even hear the slightest of the sounds. it was a nice experience. thank you :)

@amiablePeace77 wonderful check in hunheart So my walk this morning

So-as many of you know I got baby salcata tortoises-right. Well along comes a big table as well. Built and done-as so I thought. Legs callapsed lol. So I went to Home Depot this morning. Walked through the lumber area. Noticed I so love this smell. The awesome smells of different woods thrills my senses. I smelled, felt and dreamed of what to build. I new I looked silly but I so was smiling in the inside. So I literally walked the long 4 isles about 3 times. I noticed my feet were kinda doing a dance to the music I had in my ear buds. By now I know I looked silly. DON'T CARE!! This was my morning mindfulness time.

So as you shared a walk can be anywhere in the world. Just enjoy it-be you and don't look at no one but youheart

Sounds like you have focus problems? I know from myself that it can be very challenging. Meditation seems to help though. How did the exercise go?

@amiablePeace77

I really enjoyed the beginning of my walk- all of my senses felt very awake! The elements of nature are very soothing to me :) I enjoyed feeling the breeze, hearing the birds and at one point I even smelled the scent of some flower or plant that I remembered from my childhood, which was really satisfying. I'm not sure if this makes sense but at some point being aware of everything sort of overloaded my senses and I actually became irritable and anxious. I very clearly heard noises that are very unpleasant to me (cars, squeaky park swings, a lot of people conversing) that I would usually drown out and at that point I had a hard time "unhearing" them. I wonder if maybe I carried on for a little too long, lol. You suggested 15 minutes or so, which worked well for me until I carried on closer to 30 minutes. But I have to tell you, it was really helpful to have that experience because I more clearly understood what some of my triggers are for stress and why I cope with stress the way that I do. It was very interesting!

@OneTraveler

Traveler, thanks for sharing this great experience. When we focus on pleasant things, our senses will primarily pick up those but then after a while we get the whole picture and as you mentioned that can help us to realize things, like triggers, we have not been aware of before.
