Having a numb effect or disconnection with mindfulness
@scarletPear1945
You aren't doing anything wrong. Mindfulness is not about relaxing but rather feeling of the sensations around you and focusing on them, whatever feelings they may provoke. To be a watchful and observant person of your experience. Being present in the moment is the goal. It's when you can have some distance between the present world around you and your inner wirlwind of thoughts. We are trying to get away from the wirlwind of thoughts.
@ReservedExcitement
thanks, maybe that's why I have not got the hang of it yet.
That helps me understand what I am supposed to be getting out of Mindfulness. It seemed a bit mystical
@scarletPear1945
Sure is. Any new concept is very different from what we already are familiar with, it can take lots of examples and thought to really get a hang of it. It can take some time to get a hang of, be patient, it's worth it. It took me about 20 weeks ( going through a program, with a 4 hour class, once weekly) to kind of get it. It's like bike riding, we start with training wheels, then are wobbly, then fairly good, and for the daring ones, they will start doing bmx tricks or speed racing. Always lots to learn in this field of study.
Glad it helped, and I'm glad you are doing your best.
@scarletPear1945 I'm having the same problem. For my part, I'm on "delivering" mode most of the time. Meaning, when I hear a question, I start reflecting on it but usually the is either not enough or not right, then I get thrown another question. On the part of the resources, I'm not used to the voices available. I am from Asia and I think it would feel more natural to me if the voice speaking was Asian as well. It's a bit of a language(?) dialect(?) voice barrier.
But like @ReservedExcitement said, it's about focusing and becoming aware. I'm personally a reflective person so I tend to think a lot, but I think it's a good idea to keep in mind that answering all questions or listening to all words said in the mindfulness tracks aren't the goals.
*not the goals but can be means or side-consequences
@intuitiveWater9305
Thanks for sharing that is a good insight. Wonder if a different if it could be translated into various languages.
@scarletPear1945 Ohh that's interesting, too! :D I was thinking of "Asian English" but maybe mother tongues are even more accessible!
@scarletPear1945
HI Scarlet thank you for sharing this
I am happy to hear that you have been trying to stick with mindfulness. First off you are doing nothing wrong. There is no right or wrong way to do mindfulness
So let me share something with you and see how it works with you. Also please share if you like on some things you can relate to.

So I am suggesting that all you do is just mindfully watch these videos. Dont worry on your breathing or if you are tense. Focus on "how you react to these vidios" only. Sometimes what clogs our doing mindfulness and feeling successful is we are TOO observant and then judge. So we have to start from the beginning and take small steps of just observing doing something mindful. Please let me know how these are for you. Also you can pm me if you like. Good luck
@RumpleSteeleSkin
They were great especially the dogs. Thank you, I kept the links so I can revisit
That was connecting
@scarletPear1945
Scarlet start very small on mindfulness exercises. As sometimes we focus to much on our breathing and stuff- then get very hard on ourselves. So you can take a wonderful walk and be mindful of what you see, hear, smell. Even cooking, or bathing.
@RumpleSteeleSkin
Thank you
I have completely dettached. I'm just watching everything around me crash. I feel dissociated.
