"Learn to love yourself first, instead of loving the idea of other people loving you."

I think the greatest challenge if we have is then it is the struggle to accept ourselves with all flaws we have. To be mindful of who we really are, how we feel and what are our needs. Actually we need to be the first best friend to oneself. Because we are the best critic of oneself and do lot of criticism about one's flaws, rejections, failures and all. While we like the idea of loving others and doing this we forget oneself to love.

We actually not need to backpack and go on an adventure to find out self-love. We just need to pause and recognize and break the walls we have built that stopping to do self-love. We need to gather some courage to break these walls and know ourselves, embrace onself and love it for who one is. And, here are what we could give a try-

yes Ask and feed yourself about what you love about yourself. You love how you draw? That's wonderful. You love the way you focus to read books? That's amazing. You love to do cooking? That's awesome. Look at yourself and be kind to your thoughts and actions. If you can recognize the potential in someone to do something, then you have also the potential to recognize what your are good. So, Get up and show some love to yourself. "What is one thing you love about yourself?"

yes Forgive your past. We all have our past and many of us haven't a good experience with it. That's fine. You not need to regret for it. What you did at that time, was the need of that moment. If I could or anyone else could be in that moment with those specific conditions, probably we would have done same. So you are not alone. We all make bad choices and these choices actually help us to learn to make better choices.Forgive yourself for what you did and focus on what you can do now.

yes Embrace the mistakes you haven't made yet. We all are afraid of making mistakes because the moment we commit. We become the first to judge and critic it following by others. Mistakes are source of learning. If you won't make a mistake, how will you learn? You can't be perfect with available resources. Just we have to make use of the resources we have. So, don't let the fear of making a bad decision stop you from taking a decision. Just go and make one.

yes Do what makes you happy. laugh I love writing and I do it everyday in some or other forms. No matter how tired and exhausted I am, writing make me feel better. Take your time and do what makes you happy. Anything! Just go, do and enjoy. Live your life your way.

yesExplore ideas and opportunities. Every idea and opportunity is worth your attention. You never know which idea and opportunity can give you the happiness that you longed for. If you won't grab it, you may miss that happiness too. Go out, explore all ideas and opportunities you can have and try to pick and act on some.

I LOVE THIS ONE!!!!!

Self-love - why can't we practice it easily?

I think part of this goes to guilt over putting ourselves first.... let's quash this guilt and help ourselves enjoy things -- including ourselves. Learning to live with ourselves - worts and all - opens up so much self-understanding, self-compassion, self-passion, and self-love, imo. I think if we can shhhhh the negative brain talk and celebrate what and who we are... we're on to something.

These are things I used to try to do for myself ... they got lost in the clutter somewhere along this twisted walk through the wilderness but I've been thinking about trying to bring back in my own life.

Things you might do for someone else that you should do for yourself --

-- Post it notes of encouragement -- mirrors, inside books, in your lunch, on the car dash -- remind yourself of favorite quotes, a silly joke, or something that makes you happy

-- Buy flowers -- I used to do this A LOT when a local store had discount arrangements after big holidays and display them in a vase on my desk. I need to get back to this :D

-- Send yourself a card in the mail -- I know it's the age of technology, but isn't still a little exhilirating to see you name in post and it ISN'T junk mail or a bill?

-- Set the table, light the candles, turn on music and enjoy a meal -- we save this for entertaining others, why not ourselves? Heck, pull out the fine dining ware too -- you're worth it!

-- Buying something they wouldn't buy themselves -- um, yoooohooo - you're worth the money too! What item have you really been wanting and putting it off? Is it within your means? Splurge for yourself too -- if you don't do it, who will?

-- Schedule time for yourself -- literally! Take your calendar, smart device, day planner or whatever and pencil yourself in some time between meetings, family activities, whatever! It doesn't have to be a huge swatch of time -- 10 minutes of reading your favorite book/magazine; 1-hour soak in bubble bath; date night with yourself to binge watch your favorite show. You pencil in everyone else's stuff -- pencil in you!

HI Silent thank you for this postsmiley A lot of times we forget to "love us" we just don't do it. But we do for another. Don't mind that. I do like the idea while doing mindfulness exercises daily to do something for self. That I do on weekends lol I do hope many of us start learning to love selfheart
