Mindfully caring about our ears
LOVE YOUR EARS
Hello mindfulness community. I hope you all had a good start of the week.
Today I like to describe a kind of ear massage, often we care about our face, legs etc. but not a lot about our feet and our ears. Ayurveda medicine (focusing on the mind-body connection) recognizes thousands of touch points around the body to stimulate healing, also on our ears which for most of us are easily accessible.
So, if you can and like to try, do as follows or alterate where needed for you (you can cream your ears before starting but its not a requirement). You can do one ear at a time or both ears simultaneously.
Fan your fingers out into the hair beneath the ears, with the thumbs resting on the outer ear. Begin lightly stroking both ears simultaneously with the thumbs. Work from the lobe of each ear upward to the tip. The pads of the fingers may gently massage the scalp at the same time. Continue this until you have covered the ear from lobe to tip three times.
Gently pull your lobes a few times, then continue gently pulling and massaging the outer part of your whole ear.
Gently push your top and bottom together to close the ear and open it. Do this 3 times.
Gently push the back of your ear to the front to close it and open it again. Again 3 times.
To finish cover both ears with your hands and stroke down your neck.
I am exited to hear how it felt for you,
How you experienced the connection with your ears,
Did you feel self-love?

@amiablePeace77 Hi Peace!
How are you doing today? I hope you are having a wonderful day so far!
I love these self-care exercises that you always post, and appreciate it immensely!
How you experienced the connection with your ears?
It was so amazing and relaxing!!! I felt so calm and at ease afterwards. I cannot even explain it.
Did you feel self-love?
I'm not sure if I felt self-love, but if I did, it was extravagant!
Just the thought of this sounds really painful. Doing many of these things would cause my skin irritation to split open, weep and bleed
@amiablePeace77
Thank you for sharing this! Please share more mindful massage techniques - It is so good for stress and health in general.
I want to share something important - Please take care of your ears! I used to play in a band class when I went to college. I didn't protect my ears and I now am suffering from tinnitus. It is important to wear hearing protection anytime you are exposed to loud sound.
@goldentown96
hey town. thanks, it means a lot to me if posts about massage are helpful, not each massage is for everybody but I will try to get as much diversity as possible.
I am very glad that you mentioned tinnitus and protection of ears - this is so important!
@goldentown96
tinnitus is terrible and can be very difficult to deal with. I hope that it got better for you, mine got and most of it disappeared with time.
@amiablePeace77
I'm happy to hear that! For me unfortunately, it didn't.
@goldentown96
sorry to hear that, i hope you found ways to manage it. if you like to talk about it you can message me
@amiablePeace77
Thank you.
