Mindfulness Check-in December 15

Hello everyone,

How are you all doing?

Raise your hand if you have also experienced this --

Whether you are at work, school, college or in a gathering, probably you do meet someone new and after a meeting, your mind thinks, " Did they like me?"

I did. I do.

And this is an important question because based on it we take our actions to either develop it into some form of relationship or close the doors.

The way you answer this question really matters. Like, if you answered it as, "Yes, probably they liked you or you liked them." You will make efforts to meet next time and form a new connection or relationship.

But what if you respond to your mind, "No". Then lots of questions and thoughts get pop up. You feel negative and it impacts your self-esteem and self-confidence to approach and interact with people.

So, when next time you find yourself questioning whether people liked you or not, take a mindful approach --

1. Deal with your fears -- Focusing on whether the person liked you or not, you put yourself in stress zone and dwelling into negative thoughts.

Admit you have faults. Who doesn't? And take your chances to develop a connection. Many of us are afraid of rejection and failures. But what if?? you succeed?

My father always says, "When you do not grab an opportunity, you miss it 100%." Better take your chances.

What will be the worst consequences? The person will say no or no connection will be formed? That's it.

You have nothing to lose either way. But if they also feel the same, you both might end up being a great connection.

Embrace your fears.

2. How could you embrace it? Seek out small ways to connect. A person may like or not, only when they know you a bit. Give them a chance to know you. The "You". Find ways to interact and connect. When you spend time with them, you get time to know them as well as they start to understand you.

And, then based on your actions, thoughts, and behavior, they either like you or not. Either way, you will figure it out.

So, next time when your mind wanders, "Did he like me?" Take a mindful way to approach the question.
