Hi Emunahsmiley You did a wonderful check-in todayyes It is great that you reminded us NOT TO judge how we think, but more so accept and maybe try some skills on certain thoughts. Wow I'm doing this now as I do have a busy week.

Have you tried any of the methods above for being present to thoughts and feelings? If so, how was your experience? I have tried over and over not to judge my thougts and to accept tham. Alot of times it goes well, but at times Im to intense in a situation to not allow the skill to work. But I do this skill dailysmiley

@RumpleSteeleSkin

Thank you for your kind words, Rumple, and for checking in! I'm happy to see that you are practicing non-judgment in regards to our thoughts and feelings :)

I definitely understand being in situations where it's hard to practice the non-judgment skill. It sounds like you recognize those situations, aren't hard on yourself for it, and keep practicing by doing the skill daily. That is great. :)

Someone who I care very much is going through a rough time. I find myself not being able to be compassionate. I find myself wondering why he cannot just snap out of it. I feel both guilty for my anger and at the same time also angry that he is shutting himself away and not communicating. How do you handle the feeling that you cannot help but have to be patient?

@Oldmoon22

Hi, Moon. Thank you for checking-in! I am sorry to read that you and someone you care about are going through some rough times right now.

I understand what you mean when you say you find it hard to be compassionate. It can be hard to have patience and compassion when someone isn't communicating with us.

It is okay to feel the emotions you are feeling, and it's okay to be concerned and experience frustration. These emotions will ride their courses over time. They are just temporary guests; remember that we are not our emotions or feelings, so while we may experience anger, we are not anger.

One way that we can process emotions and experience patience is to be patient with ourselves. Feelings of frustration may come back randomly and often, and that's okay. We can be patient by being mindful of our thoughts and feelings and realizing that our thoughts and feelings are not us and that they aren't necessarily good or bad thoughts. Judging our thoughts can lead us to feeling guilty.

A good exercise that works for me when I am feeling like this is to take a few moments to focus on my breath and listen to a guided meditation video on YouTube like the ones mentioned in our mindfulness community library.

I hope that you begin to feel better soon. ❤️

@EmunahHere thank you so much. It is so hard to think clearly when I am feeling overwhelmed by my emotions. Your words reminds me that I can channel patience and kindness toward myself and then maybe I can find it for others. Thank you!!

I am glad to hear that, Moon! ❤️ like you said, practicing self-love/patience and self-compassionate can help us extend patience and compassion towards others. It takes practice, so hang in there!
