Mindfulness Daily Check-In February 26, 2018
Well it is amazing what a day away from the routine does. It gives me more time to notice simple things. The rain is slowly dripping off the roof and by the windows. The washermachine is filling up with water. The pancake is cooking in the pain. The mystery of how liquid eggs turn to a solid while cooking.
Life is filled with mysteries. It does not mean we can figure them out, but we can appreciate them. Only 5 miles from my house we lost a future doctor in a senseless attack by someone that may have suffered severe illness. The thought that this could be my last day leads me to appreciate the simple things. A card game, a television nature show, and even something as simple as the thump thump thump as the clothes are swished back in forth in the washer.
Stop when you have a moment and appreciate the simple things in your world. Feel free to share some little mysteries in your life. I always appreciate hearing what others notice in their world. It reminds me to tune into my world again and again.

Happy Joyday! Yes, hmmm, the washing machine! What a beast that is. I had to get a new one and this one spins so fast it tries to move out of the gap across the floor lol. There is something wonderful about washing clothes and getting them all clean again and nice and fresh. Looking at the mud and remembering the dog walk or seeing the stain from the indian takeaway. My moments of mindfulness on a Monday.

@MistyMagic yes washers can dance across the floor. There are usually levelers on the bottom that can be adjusted so it does not dance and vibrate.

Thank you Souls another wonderful mindfulness reminder
GRATITUDE this reminds me of. Yes we are human, we just some how fall into a routine for Monday through Friday, the weekends and even the evenings too. Auto pilot. GO-GO-GO...
But do we really remember "what" we done? Do we really notice the cloths swishing clean? Or just it's taking to long and we need those jeans? Yesterday I caught myself thinking "Screw this I hate cleaning my car off from all the @#$%^&**(* snow" Yes that was me as I was so cold and shivering. But I stopped- "Rumple be grateful you have a car to clean off" Once I said that it sit in and I smiled and continued to clean my car.
Even to have a job that is so so demanding all hours of a day Im grateful for. As having a job pays me bills and rent and car note and and and....Im also grateful to have a sensitive side. To really have that compassion and understanding of what others go through. How they feel and them in pain or lonely. I am truly grateful for my job that keeps my heart warm and not rough and edgy.

@soulsings Hi soul! :) Thank you for such a great post! I love washing dishes and clothes as it just makes me feel so happy and at peace. I am very sorry to hear about your neighbor though and offer my deepest condolences. It is extremely saddening to hear about what happened, and I hope his family will be okay. I appreciate being able to sleep in a comfy bed with fluffy pillows and a warm blanket. I appreciate being able to read and read more often than I used to before. Reading has always been a mystery to me. I love reading, but I have always found it to be interesting that a combination of different letters can bring me a story that I become so enveloped within and make me feel so many emotions while being so enveloped within the story.

It amazes me what happens when I slow down my thoughts and notice simpler things. I think it not only reminds me of the things I enjoy, but also helps me appreciate things that I would otherwise find hindering.
My appreciation has been neglected and my mind has been used for a bad advantage. Not a good combination.
In the brief moments of clarity, I appreciate the changing weather and season. I love style, the time it take to do things slowly, the quiet, the way water tastes, the way firelight flickers, how I get to run off enrgy in team sports, community with good friends, and spending an entire day to do one thing diligently and properly like cooking a fine meal.
Then I remember I am a woman of passion and loving nature. And maybe I'm even charmed by the world and how I interact in this life.
What a good feeling, to be content.
