Mine's mostly is cause of thoughts of I could do better or just not special. But it's rare for me to feel accomplished by something, cause I'm never satisfied haha.

@AddictedTealover98

Hugs, it must be hard to like yourself when always thinking not being, doing enough, like filling a" hole with has no bottom".

Have you ever thought about writing a kind of story or just writing down all the things you have accomplished in your life and what you are grateful for?

@amiablePeace77 Actually, I never thought about that, maybe i'll try in the future. Thanks a lot!

My own mind/thoughts are blocking me from prety much anything/everything I haven't yet accomplished in my life. But thoughts are not reality, they're simply thoughts. Changing/shifting my attitude and perception is the fastest way for me to pivot, make adjustments, make progress... it helps me to talk with someone I respect who knows me or who knows the situation to help me see other points of view or consider things I never thought of to make those shifts.

I haven't found many people I respect to reach out to, who can banter/brainstorm about creative solutions and perception shifts at my level, so I don't reach out often. Most don't understand the lifestyle and priorities of a nomad. I find chat groups on facebook very helpful for locating people because the people understand the same kinds of problems, and I usually browse answers/suggestions but never post/ask there or send DMs because I like to remain private and anonymous. Is there a digital nomad group on this site somewhere? Are there enough of us to start one?

But of course, whenever I make the smallest amount of progress, I definitely give myself credit! I run mastermind groups that celebrate accomplishments weekly! I write a personal weekly report and keep track of accomplishments and progress, no matter how small, for my personal life too. I talk about successes with my friends all the time, especially when I don't have the big successes (like finding an apartment!)! I over emphasize the small things when the big ones are lacking. And I keep a "best of the year" list for the things I accomplish too that I want to remember for the year! Whenever there's a little bit of movement, I feel grateful and thankful.

Thanks for the question. Realize I answered a different one in my first post, but for some reason I can't delete it.

Ha love that picture. It gave me a silly memory when we went swinning in a natural made swimming area in the mountains. My bff was cold and I shared they had ostrich legs shivering like they were. Heehee

Yes I pat myself on the back all the time on how I manage to get certain things done. Some I see do lack, but not forever on lacking as I get to those in order of importance.heart

@amiablePeace77 Hi there my friend! Actually I do not do this. I'm really hard on myself and I never give my self the credit I desrve. This is something I have been working on with my therapist!

Great that you're working on it with your therapist lavenderpeach. Lots of people (including myself) easily see what they do wrong but not what they did right and it's very important for our self-esteem.

@amiablePeace77 I am responsible for my actions and the consequences that ensue, but it is not something I pride myself on. I am trying to stop making actions with negative consequences. I can see a way out of the endless cycle of frustration and suffering by changing how I react to life.

Soul, that's wonderful. How life feels is at the end up to us how we decide to perceive it.

Do you give yourself credit for what you have accomplished and if not what prevents you?

Ayayay, what a loaded question but thanks for asking it. Sometimes these things need to be agonised over.

Short answer: I try to. Except, I find it interesting to think not of what I have accomplished, but what I need to do to continue to reach for my goals. It is only when I am swallowed up, and thinking too far ahead, and losing my hope - that's when I need to stop. Wait a minute. And thinking of what I have accomplished, and give myself some credit. This might even involve thinking of all the support and people who have helped me in my accomplishments, and reaching out to them if need be.

The people around me are really the people who spur me on, forwards, and who also remind me of what I've accomplished. It is when I am alone, dwelling in sadness, being with people who bring me down to uplift themselves - that is when I am prevented from being hopeful.

But I have so many good friends. And I am so thankful. :)

@SensibleSensitivity

Nice to hear that you have good friends, it's better to stay with the positive ones, to ask for help when feeling low and to cut negative people out of your life. Never forget, you can always come here to talk when you feel down.

Faulty programming has been a long time hideous of mine growing up in a perfectionist home nonthing is ever really good enough to pat your self about. So I seem to have defeated attitude a lot even though I know I can not be perfect nor do things perfectly.

@scarletPear1945

It must have been very hard as a child trying to fulfill those extreme standards and getting "beaten down" over and over again because you had to try the impossible. It leads to a defeated attitude. Learning to embrace the imperfection helped me to become happier, hope it will help you too. Something I find helpful too is writing down all the successes in life, even the smallest one, it can be a good reminder for bad days.

I really don't think about what I have achieved in my life so much, but I don't have a self-critical nature so it's good.

I haven't been on here for a while, it's been busy, but hopefully I'll be able to help a bit more moving forward (as they say).
