Hi everyone, what did you do last week or are planning this week to stay in the moment? I listened to a lot of meditation music and did 2 mindfulness exercises a day.

I'm gonna do mindful eating for the first time. Any tips for it effectiveness?
@sweetrosa1987
I am so happy that you are starting to do mindful eating.
Eat slowly, enjoy the food, the taste, the feel of the food in your mouth. Maybe even try some new foods or I know it is summer time here so we are getting lots of fresh fruits and veggies that we are picking which taste different then store bought food.
@DanaMH Thank you for the tips, Dana.
@sweetrosa1987
That sounds wonderful, I've done the same this week!
The points I've worked on, and you might find you want to try as well, was 1) being mindful of what I eat and 2) eating in silence so I can focus on the food itself, and myself nurishing my own body.
For this I've prepared and cooked all the meals I have eaten. I found that preparing the meals actually increased my appetite to the point where I was actually happy and excited to try what I was making. Also, in this time where most foods are processed, it's interesting to feel the effects of different types of foods on your body, especially the harmful effects of sugar and caffeine. Instead I found that eating a handful of nuts or whole weat bread are much better options to boost my energy when I feel sluggish. Though they don't work as fast as sugar does, the effects last longer and don't leave you feeling even more tired after your rush.
As for the second one, I've eaten at my dinner table for each meal (dinner is always eaten together at the table, but lunch and breakfast are not). My phone would be somewhere I wouldn't hear it buzzing and I didn't turn on the TV or the radio. I just sat their, focussing on this one task that was eating. I'm unsure of how to explain the effects that this had on me but I can assure you they were very positive
I hope this helped you along a little further. Good luck with your goal!
@JayTheBird14 Thank you so much, Jay for your testimony on mindful eating. This will help me further and I pray that you continue on this exercise.
@sweetrosa1987
Doing the right thing, eating mindful - a great way of effectiveness
@amiablePeace77 Thanks.
This week, I am planning to do 5 mins mindfulness exercise twice a day :o
@Shriya546
That is so amazing that you will be doing 5 mins mindfulness exercise twice a day. I hope you really enjoy them and that they are relaxing for you.
@DanaMH
Thank you so much :D
@Shriya546
Sounds like creating a really good and helpful routine ![]()
Today I had a blood test. I was really scared but I focused on mindful breathing and I was fine! It was the first time I've had blood taken and not cried or passed out (kind of embarassing I know)
@EllieKB
Doing mindful breathing is such a great way to get through blood test and sometimes even our daily lives. So proud of you to think about your breath when having the blood test. Please don't feel bad about passing out in the past. I know my older son does it all the time and can't drive to the doctors when this is done and turns white as a ghost. It does happen to a lot of folks.
I had stopped doing mindfullness for a bit. I was just so busy. ( The time I shoud've done it the most) But now I'm getting back into it and I have to say, I feel so much better! So my goal is to get back to doing it twice a day!
@DanaMH thanks for this checkin. Love that picture of the person with all those thoughts lol.
I am doing a mindfulness session today earlier than usual at 3PM EDT with amiablePeace cohosting. Unfortunately the teen mindfulness at 2:30PM is on hold and the 8PM session with EmunahHere will not happen tonight but will resume on August 6th.
I am also working on the 50+ community since I am well over 50 lol. So we are hoping this is a new sub community which is hopefully as successful and helpful as mindfulness has been. Mindfulness will always be number one in my book but I also have needs as an over 50 person so I look forward to seeing that community grow as mindfulness has done so well. If interested the 50+ forum is here https://www.7cups.com/forum/35OverCommunity_166/50sconnectwithothersintheir50s_559/
@DanaMH Hi Dana!
How are you doing today? I hope you are having a wonderful Monday so far!
Both last week and this, I am staying in the moment by being aware of how I am feeling, especially how the heat and humidity is affecting me. It helps me a lot to stay in tune with how I am feeling at the moment, especially if I may feel uncomfortable or too hot, so that I may find a way to feel even better.
@SaimaK
Hi, yes with all of this heat we need to stay mindful with ensuring that we are drinking enough liquids and trying to stay some what in the shade some times if we can or if you are like me in the air conditioning since it is much cooler. :)
Today I am trying to be very mindful since my son is about 3 hours away from me doing testing and tomorrow signing paper work for the Navy with military strangers so trying to be very mindful with my breathing today. At least I have him around for 1 more year prior to him graduating which is a good thing.
@DanaMH Hehehe, I am definitely like you, Dana, as I prefer the air conditioning as well.
I am glad you are being mindful during this time, and I am glad you have 1 year with him still before he graduates. That is amazing that he is signing up with them. I hope you have a wonderful time during this year with him and make the most out of it.

@DanaMH
Hi Dana, thanks for bringing up "staying in the moment", what can be really difficult.
I practised acceptance and found out that in a situation where I usually would have reacted differently I stayed calm and in the now. That made me very proud. Apart from my usual daily meditation I did a series of mindful movements last week and will keep on doing them in between.
@amiablePeace77
So glad to hear that you are doing daily meditation and a series of mindful movements that is so great!
Practicing acceptance is sometimes very hard and I am so proud of you for doing this mindfully in the situation and hopefully you can use it in other situations in the future also.
@DanaMH
Dana, thanks, I will keep on practising. Being proud of seeing results starting to surface
Hello
I took for myself a 3-day getaway at the Comfort Suites. I was able to practice being Thankful and gratefulness. Just unwound and relaxed.
@scarletPear1945
That just sounds so amazing and relaxing and hope you really enjoyed yourself on your mini vacation.
@DanaMH
Thanks, Dana
I had some moments where I forgot to be Mindful, but I quickly rerouted my thought processes as to not get pulled into any controversy or anything that would sabotage my trip.
