BOOM!! CRACK-CRACK!! BOOOOOOOM!!!!surprisecrying

Morning community today yes today we celebrate another holiday. But this one is kinda a noisie one-right. Many of us deal with trauma symptoms or other related things that makes loud noises very hard to deal with. It sets of some symptoms that we have a hard time dealing with. Hugs everyoneheartI know this is hard. No I personally don't have issues with loud noises but last night I did. I was pretty much asleep and BOOOOOOOM. That jarred me awake and it took a minute to figure out where I was. sadBut with some mindfulness exercises you too can have a better 4th of July with the noises. Ready to try?

1) Know WHY the loud noises trigger you

What exactly is bothering you? Why does a loud noise bother you? What specifically upsets you? Most noise-sensitive people found that they weren't just being upset by the sound itself, but by the expectation before the sound occurred and feelings of fear after they heard it.

2) Think about when you are less noise-sensitive

When examining problems, it seems natural to focus on when the problem does happen and that's useful. But we also need to learn how not to 'do' the problem. One way is to focus on when it doesn't or hasn't happened when we might have expected it to. We are all sponges, and soak up things. This happens a lot when we put the situation with the reactions. Nothing ever different always the same. So when this same situation occurs again our brains react the same every time.When is your noise sensitivity not triggered in a situation you'd normally expect it to be?

3) Listen to Mindfulness Exercises To "ignore" Those Loud Noises

Yes I said it right-IGNORE. See with mindfulness we also have the choice on what we let our minds focus on or to just accept it's there but also let it pass. Like loud fireworks sound. Find things you like to hear, music, nature sounds, water flowing. Anything that can help you tolerate those loud noises but also focus on good noises.

Everyone be safe today-hugsheartheart

@Chocolateandcakes

Hiya Cakes good to see you todaysmileyYes- communication too is good thing. But the fire works will be all over the neighborhood right. With learning some mindfulness it helps us to "tolerate" things that upsets us or makes us uncomfie. Hugsheart

@RumpleSteeleSkin Hi Rumple! heart How are you doing today? I hope you are having a wonderful and mindful day so far! laugh Also, happy 4th of July to all of the American listeners and members!!! smiley

I love seeing fireworks, but I dislike hearing their loud and treacherous booms. It honestly makes my heart hurt. As odd as that may sound, my heart cannot handle such loud sounds. And so, I hope everyone is able to stay safe, calm, happy, and block out these sounds if it negatively impacts them. heart Thank you so much for this wonderful post, Rumple!!! smileyheart

@SaimaK

Hi Saima good to see yousmileyYes those BOOOOMS kinda rack through me but it's tolerable. We sometimes can't control how our body reacts. But we can train it to respond a different more healthier way with some form of mindfulness. Thanks hun!heart

HAPPY HOLIDAY TO AMERICA

1. Loud noises - I definitevely have to learn to ignore them more but for now they can still be an issue. I do not like loud noises in general, I can hear louder music for a short while but not for long, same refers to loud language. I use breathing to calm down.

2. Fireworks - they look nice but the "boom" always "shocks" me a bit, also i am very uncomfortable thinking about the panick most of the animals get and that adds to my irritation.

I would love to see the world in general using some sort of recycable baloons with non toxic glow paint and not making noise (paper baloons?) hehe, imagine on old year's nights millions of baloons in the sky

Hiya Peace good to see you todaysmiley I know more and more as I study on this and people talk to me on this and how it affects them. Yes to ignore it BUT accept it's there is great. Breathing is good to when a loud noise upsets you by surprises you. aaww hun yes fireworks does bring on a certain anxiety even in animals.

Can I suggest maybe you making a plan for you and animals? Maybe a good movie that makes you laugh. Where animals are by you and you give them special treats and praises? I tried this last night and it worked for my dogs! The cat just kept sleeping lol. That wish I kinda though of too, and for people to clean up after themselves too!

@RumpleSteeleSkin

I find my way around, whenever noise is too much i leave the place. I must say watching funny movies and giving out treats is a very good idea, maybe with time animals would even think a "boom" means treats, a smart way to condition them at least the ones we can reach. Thanks.

@RumpleSteeleSkin thanks for this post on staying inside ourselves and not reacting to the outside. Happy July 4th to all who celebrate.
