Acceptance
Hey, everyone!
I hope that your weekends are going well. Today, let's think about a mindfulness attribute called Acceptance. So, what does it mean to experience Acceptance while practicing mindfulness?
Acceptance means that we recognize and accept that things are the way they are. Our situations and relationships may not be the way we want them to be, and thats okay. Some situations and their accompanying feelings are hard to accept, like pain, tragedy, and loss. Before we can change our situations, we need to welcome them as they are, right now, in this moment.
Acceptance does not mean complacency. We can work to change or improve the world and our situations, but we need to accept them as they are, in this present moment, so that we dont become stuck in the "I wish that" or "I want this to be" thinking patterns that leave us feeling discouraged and disappointed.
Questions:
1.) What does Acceptance look like to you?
2.) How can you practice Acceptance today?

Emunah thank you for another good thoughtful check in
What does Acceptance look like to you?
Acceptance looks like humbleness, peace, gratitude, like we are say or screaming "YES I KNOW MY LIFE SUCKS BUT....." Its an attitude that no matter what you roll with what you have with a smile.
How can you practice Acceptance today?
I don't need to judge anyone or any situation. Just fly with it
Acceptance - such a simple notion but very hard to practise. Only yesterday I found myself overwhelmed and unable to stop crying. It had been a busy week and I think that I had depleted my reserves. I began to exercise some of the acceptance techniques I have learned - sitting in the moment with my emotion, understanding where it belonged - what was my context - this was understandable and I knew that this would pass - I rested, cooked myself a very nutritious meal and had an excellent night's sleep.
For the first time - I mindfully dealt with my thoughts and emotions - result - feeling empowered and even a little loved
@calmSun91
Hey 😊 Thank you for checking-in ❤️
Thats great that you were able to practice even though you were emotionally overwhelmed and drained ❤️ It is very hard to practice acceptance when we are feeling this way. Its much easier to accept life when we are experiencing pleasant situations.
I also think its awesome that you followed up with some self-care ❤️ Good food, good sleep, and taking some time for some rest are great for refueling after weve had a long week.
Youre doing great!
1.) What does Acceptance look like to you?
To me, acceptance means facing reality as it is....without labels , without desiring a different outcome or situation...just as it is in the present moment. It means not attatching myself to the situation nor running from it, just like....allowing a cloud to be in the sky, just because IT IS there. Saying this, it does'nt mean that I can not change the situation, it rather means, i first have to accept Before I can change it. Because we can not change that which we have not accepteded as there.
2.) How can you practice Acceptance today?
Today I am in a bad mood. I am accepting this . This is my mood. I will feel it without pushing it away. I will feel the emotions that come with it. For me: I am stressed because I have so much to do and so little time to do it. So - there it is. Instead of trying to pretend it is not there, It IS there...but I can be pro- active about this situation by making a schedule and plnning me time/self care time too.
@blissedNblessed Thank you for checking-in ❤️
I really liked your cloud analogy, and I liked what you said about we cant change our situations until weve accepted them as they are ❤️ I think thats spot on!
I hope that your mood passes for you like clouds pass in the sky ❤️ Its great that youre using it to practice acceptance, realizing that itll go away eventually, and that its okay to have his mood! 😊
The same is true with the feelings of being overwhelmed due to having a lot on your plate. Youve accepted that you have a lot on your plate, and now youre making a plan of action and taking some self-care time rather than dwelling on how much you have to do. Well done! 🤗

Thanks <3
Been doing some self care - but still - bad mood.
It too shall pass....just hoping for some high winds to push the cloud a lil faster :p
@EmunahHere acceptance to me is not overly clinging to a situation or person and not overly pushing that person or situation away from me. It is a lot like letting something be. Not trying to change or make things the way we want them to be. By clinging to a preconceived idea of what should happen we are trapped by the thing we cling to. By accepting situations that are disagreeable we are not so troubled by them. By accepting things that are agreeable, we are not knocked over with excitement when we have them or plagued with regrets when it is gone.
