Mindfulness Daily Check-in February 08, 2018

"Emotion is created by motion." -Tony Ribbons.
As per Ribbons, "A change in your physical state will change how you feel."
I think we all practice and experience it. Like after workout, you feel tired physically but mentally feel refreshed? So, how you move actually affects how you think, act, react and feel.
When you are anxious, your body act in a different way and so your mind is. Similarly, when you are angry, the body posture will be different and so your emotions in that state. When you are lonely, your posture will seem different. Your head bent slightly down. It wouldn't be possible to have a happy face when you are feeling lonely.
So, every day your mind is cluttered and your physical state can impact your emotion state and reverse way too. So to declutter your mind and develop mindfulness, you could try to practice Priming Technique.
How to do priming?
Sit in a comfortable position and posture, close eyes and raise your hands up in the sky. Now, breathe heavily in. While breathing out, bring your hands down and forming it as fist. Do it for 2-3 sets of 15-20 breaths in each set.
When you completed it, you will feel better and mind will seem spacious as well.
So lets practice it and then please let me know
"How you were feeling before and after practicing it?"
And, if you practice it already, share your experience with us.

Took me a while to notice there's a button link to this post under the title of community instead of linking directly here from the notification...I may not have found it if I hadn't been specifically looking for words "check in" from the notification description. I wish every notification lead directly to the post it mentions instead of back to main community page cause it could be burried into page 2 by the time I click on the notification's links. That and 1 click is always easier than 2(+) clicks.
@ASilentObserver
Here's video showing hand movements main post describes that isn't in video that was linked. (Exercise as always with safety and stretching in mind...and maybe skip the hands part if you have arm strain or limitations.) https://clips.twitch.tv/SolidVastBearTBCheesePull
@ASilentObserver
Silent thanks for this wonderful check in
Wow I had to do something like this when I woke up and kids were literally "off the walls". I wanted to react to yelling at them, to ignoring them or to correcting them. But I focused on a stuffed animal and layed there and focused on breathing. Let myself calm a bit and then my reaction was not negative for kids being kids.
So when I came outta my room with a deep voice I started singing, the Smurfs song
This really got the whole house giggling.
I really do believe how we RESPOND/REACT to situations is how the situation will flow. Negative people having hurt feelings, or positive and no issues. I still have to work on this a bit

@RumpleSteeleSkin
amazing how you got your emotion controlled, you sound like a wonderful father
I have to say that I'm really suspicious of this exercise because it came from Tony Robbins. I am very suspicious of so called self-help gurus who make their money by preying on vulnerable people. I don't think that means the exercise wouldn't work or that it can't work, but it does make me uncomfortable who it's coming from.
@wingedtrish
I completely understand where you are coming from, and it's actually very wise not to believe everything you see or read. I do believe however, that if it doesn't cost you anything or causes harm, you can always try something out anyway and see if it works for you. Priming sounds like something you could try out anyway
Thanks @JayTheBird14 and you're totally right. I honestly didn't want to do it because I felt silly and I used the Tony Robbins thing as an excuse. I think it's also good to know what you're willing to try and what you're not willing to try, though. If you tried it, I hope you found it helpful!
@wingedtrish
It certainly was for me, and it is totally alright that you don't want to try it if it makes you feel silly. Exercises like these are supposed to make you feel better after all, not self-concious
@ASilentObserver
Before practicing mindfulness, my mind was full of worry and frantic thoughts. Afterwards, I noticed that my shoulders had relaxed and that my mind was clearer. I felt ready to tackle my tasks.
I feel more energized and less stressed after the movements than before. Even a good idea came to me right afterwards that could be a coincidence but I think not
Thank you so much for the suggestion!

@ASilentObserver
I have not done the exercise like this, got a bit of a funny feeling first because of all the oxigen coming in by deep breething but felt really good afterwards - kind of "opening the window in your brain and let fresh air in", so everything gets clearer
