Mindfulness Daily Check-in January 26
Mindfulness Daily Check-in January 26
I wonder about looking at clouds. When I was a kid and even a teenager I used to lay on the grass and see images in the clouds or see the clouds as someone's face. I wonder if that was a type of mindfulness. When I did that I felt very carefree and not worried. I am going to start cloud watching again and see how that helps me now.
What did you do when you were younger that gave you relief from the stresses of the times you went through?
How could that be adapted to your life now?

Hi Souls thank you for this check-in
I believe cloud watching is a form of being mindful. Cause we are looking at the clouds, maybe a certain one. asking ourselves"I wonder what it feels like?" what shape is that, is it totally white or is there a bit of grey. So cloud watching is mindfulness practice
When I was little we lived in te country, so that meant a big big yard. I loved to dig in the dirt past the grass. The deeper the better. I would find so many different bugs, parts of dirt I never seen before, the roots from a near by tree growing, the wonderful feel and smell of cold dirt. Also getting a collection of bugs was awesome
@RumpleSteeleSkin oh that sounds exciting. I want to go digging in my back yard but it is frozen solid! Yes kids really know how to cultivate their curiosity. When we nurture our curiosity approaching mindfulness it can really energize our practice.

I used to cry a lot as a kid. I had speech impediments and learning disabilities so I really didn't have many people to talk with. I used to also watch a lot of movies and that helped me.
@Catlover1993 so you found communication by watching movies. Yes we can learn communicating from many paths. I find my social skills improve the more I do text chats. It is knowing what to say and thinking on my feet that helps me communicate better, but movies are a valid way to learn to communicate too.
@soulsings
Yes, combined with 11 years of speech therapy and a very supportive mother it helped me greatly. Today I have a great deal of issues with anxiety and depression that I am going to therapy for, but these things take time. I'm glad I found this website😊
@Catlover1993 that is wonderful that you devoted so much to Speech Therapy.
I am sorry you have challenges in anxiety and depression. You may find these of interest: https://www.7cups.com/anxiety-help/
@soulsings
Thank you so much!
@soulsings
I enjoyed taking both these courses and I'm hoping to do more. These did help😊
@soulsings The things that I did as a kid to distract myself from any stresses around me was.- I was such a hippy type child I just did whatever I though was fun at the time. I used to play in my backyard barefoot and walked around outdoors barefoot. I remember my grandmother(rip) telling me at the door when I came in "Don't come no further wash your feet" lol something along those lines. I used to play in the sprinkler and visit my neigborhood friends. I listened to alot of music, this is around the time I found music. I would play with my pug Otis I also remember riding in one of those kids Jeeps with my good friend I pretty much grew up with Maria as my grandfather(rip) took home videos, riding my bike around the block. Just some things I did as a kid to forget about my stresses etc... I don't really know how you can put these type of things into today, maybe to find simple things to love.
@MelanieDaniels63 sounds like you found ways to live your innocence. What matters is that we kept our curiosity and our sense of adventure alive so as adults we could uncover the parts that have been buried.
@soulsings
Oh wow! tbh thats fun way to practice creativity and mindfulness. I love that. Though not get time now to do it. But yeah looking forward to go for it. Thank you for the reminde
