Mindfulness Daily Check-in October 1, 2017
Hello, everyone! I hope that you all are having a good weekend
We are starting a new month today, so today is a great day to start a routine for practicing mindfulness or recommit to a daily practice, even if youre only able to practice for five minutes or even 30 seconds per day.
As weve been learning about mindfulness and mindfulness practice, weve discovered that there are many ways to meditate and be present during each moment of our lives. One of these ways is guided meditation. We have a great Resource Library with some guided meditation links here: https://tinyurl.com/kcr5lxq
What is your favorite guided meditation video? Why is it your favorite? Feel free to share a YouTube link or a website with your favorite mindfulness videos so that others can check them out!
If you dont like guided meditation videos, what is your favorite mindfulness exercise and why?
Bonus: For mindfulness practice today, watch your favorite video or perform your favorite mindfulness exercise and share your experience with us below!

My favorite mindful excersise is the one that I have to go from 5 and count all of my senses and name one positive thing about me. I love it because it calms me down.
@happydandan I do it almost everywhere. When I get really panicked and such.
@happydandan
Thank you for checking in, dandan! I am glad that you've found one that helps calm you when you need it. I also like that it has you say something positive about yourself.
@EmunahHere You welcome :-)
@happydandan
Hey Happy that one reminds me one on personal gratification. Love it
@EmunahHere
HI Emunah-thank you for this check-in
My favorite mindfulness practice is "Rainbow Sandbow" I choose this one cause of how she describes many things so detailed I can almost feel it. Neon green, bright purple, sparkling yellow, sunny orange. Every color of the rainbow is in the sandbox- those you don't see blend in together, greenish yellow, blue-green, prurplish yellow. And the pebbles in the stream. wow I love the feel of warm sand
@EmunahHere Hi Emunah, Thanks for checking in :)
My favorite meditation exercise is unguided sitting meditation on the breath. Just focusing on the breath, often via the belly. Accepting and willing to be there with the pain, the thoughts, the urges, the feelings. And gently bringing back the attention back to the breath everytime I notice I got distracted.
My favorite guided one is this yoga nidra. I do it often in my bed right before going to sleep and the sequence in which the awareness is directed to different part of the body relaxes me so much.
Take care,
@politeAvocado7234
Hey, Avo ❤️ Thank you for checking-in as well!
Focusing on the breath is a great meditation exercise. Its also nice for those who dont have a lot of time to sit down and watch listen to a guided meditation, so thats a plus. 😊 Focusing on the belly and filling the belly, deep breathing, can be very calming.
Thank you for sharing your favorite guided meditation! Ones that we can do right before bed are nice, so I appreciate you sharing this one with us all. It can be hard to unwind after a long day and shut down all of the days thoughts.

@EmunahHere thanks for listing the Resource Video Library link where many new videos have been added under 2017 Video Thread https://www.7cups.com/forum/MindfulnessSupportCommunity_106/ResourceLibrary_1062/2017MindfulnessVideos_72071/
Yes October is a new month and a fresh start. I would like to find a way to approach every day as it is and not keep hanging onto the past.
Thanks for this thread.
