I have a therapist on 7cups, use the path exercises and mindfulness library. I'm still looking for a listener.
Any tips on getting integrated into the forums and making the most out of them?
@charmingZebra4754
WEEEEELCOME to you hun
I look forward to seeing you in the mindfulness discussion room and also around the forums. Its good to have you here!
@RumpleSteeleSkin
Thanks!! I'm still figuring out these tools. Any place in the mindfulness forums that you recommend for a newbie?
Hi, I'm new here. Mindfulness is hard for me, I'm always thinking about the past or future. I'm looking forward to getting tips and learning from others.
@Hapzoo Welcome Hapzoo. Mindfulness is not about not thinking about the past or future, but giving equal time to all things in your environment (called "equanimity" in mindfulness). If you find yourself thinking about the past or future, simple acknowledge it and move on to notice what else is happening in the moment.
I hope that helps!
P.S. No one is good at mindfulness, that's why it's called a "practice"!
@Kavajava
Thank you! 💜
@Hapzoo welcome to the Mindfulness Community
Im glad you are here with us.
I hear you on mindfulness be hard. It was for me when I first started many years ago. I can only share this: Imagine you wanting to start something new in your life. You set a daily schedule or weekly and work on this. Mindfulness is like that. Have to practice it daily in order for the skills to start working. More so doing it so many times the brain just does it and knows nothing else. Little steps hun, and try some skills you are comfortable with.
We are human and we all to a point worry on past and future thoughts. Mindfulness teaches us to care about the here and now. Today. As we are not promised tomorrow. It is a constant battle with mindfulness to keep focusing on today only. No one is perfect not even me.
Please do venture in the mindfulness forums and see whats helpful for you. Also the community is very supportive of one another. Let us know what we can help you with.
@RumpleSteeleSkin
Thank you! 💛
I just joined this month so I could see how other people deal with a brain like mine
that can't stay in one place. Even in "real life" outside the community I can't focus for long on what others are saying and interrupt them.
Hi,
I think I'm interested in learning more about mindfulness.
@brightBike1298
My favorite book on mindfulness is "The science of enlightenment" by Shinzen Young. He breaks it down into easy to understand steps in every day English.
Jon Kabat-Zinn is the founder of the mindfulness movement in the US. His work is based on that of Thich Nhat Hanh.
