Locking in the habit?
Hello folks,
I'd love to make meditation a regular habit, as I have found it fantastically powerful.
Has anyone managed to successfuly meditate "on the reg'" with great results?
@courageousBlackberry5380 Hi! I use my meditation when I get into my deep ansxety attacks and I don't do them every day. I probably should but sometimes life gets busy and I find myself putting meditation on the back burner until I find some free time or I am in a full-blown panic attack in which case I have to immediately go to my meditations. It would be more effective if I did them on a daily basis. I have to work on this as well. It is likely a matter of forcing oneself to set a side a specific time of day when you can center on yourself without disruptioins (that can be hard too), but I need to practice this as well.

When I was at my lowest, I found that what helped me most was going outdoors before the world woke up and listening to the birds and clearing my mind of all thoughts. I would like to think that I achieved some balance in my life through this technique, and since then I dont worry as much as I used to. I hope that my technique may be useful to someone reading this of course its always best to do what works for you. Listen to your body.

Meditation is something that I struggle with as I find it hard to sit in the silence and keep my mind quiet. So, no I haven't haven't managed to meditate "on the reg" with great results. I do know of the benefits though and it's something that I'm actively working to make a part of my lifestyle and daily habits.

Yes I have!!
Once you do it each day you feel like a weight has lifted off.
set an alarm or do it as soon as you wake up is the best way to start a meditation routine @courageousBlackberry5380
@courageousBlackberry5380 Hello there! Meditation is great, I feel its much needed especially nowadays to just relax. It helps so much and its been amazing. Although, Ive found that other methods help me cope much better!
Yes, I've been trying to meditate twice a day as advised by my counsellor. I use Insight Timer, a free app which has a lot of cool meditation options!
@gentleNight53 So cool, I'm going to look into that app! Thanks for sharing <3
yes!!! i love meditation and it's helped me sooooo much! i started with guided meditations, which there are lots of online, and now i just play calming music in the background. i do it twice a day, and it's really really helpful. some things that helped me when i was starting was reminding myself to be kind to myself, especially if i catch my thoughts wandering. like anything, it takes practice and time. good luck!!

Yes, I have tried meditation once in a while and it has been quite helpful especially when I am anxious and unable to concentrate. It slowly relaxes my body and helps to gather my thoughts.

HI Blackberry this is a great question you ask. Even for me who has been doing mindfulness for over 14 years. I say for any "habit" we like to place in or stop doing takes time- or even a roller coaster. Placing in mindfulness takes some patience, commitment, forgiving yourself and a daily routine. For many it's a journey. I wish you well in forming your mindfulness routine
@courageousBlackberry5380 I'm so glad to hear that meditation is helping you! The comments here have some good advice in response to your question. Me personally, I like "killing two birds with one stone" as they saying goes, so every morning I come on 7cups and do a step on my Growth Path that includes a mindfulness meditation exercise. So I do my step for the day and earn growth points (I'm aiming for 365 streak hehe) AND get my meditation in at the same time. What's funny is the other day I skipped doing it and definitely didn't feel as calm later on. Not sure if it's related, but I find it helps me too
