Cat´s silent week experiment
Recently, I came across a major problem in my life. And that being how much noise I am constantly in, how many things do I want to do and how little time I have. I´m a chronic multitasker and come home-pop on a podcast type of person, so true silence is something i haven´t experienced for a long time. And yes, my attention span is fried too 🍟
A while ago, I decided to uninstall *** due to how badly it affected my mental health. And the break helped me a lot. I felt much happier, healthier and had more time to do things that actually fulfill me.
In this experiment, I will be taking this week and try to avoid audio distractions when it´s up to me, and see how it goes. Will probably try to update the comments with a short recap every day on how things went. Feel free to join me for a day or two, try this on your own or just follow along the madness of my underwhelmed brain being forced to deal with itself. Hopefully, I will walk out from this week mentally and emotionally recharged, at least as much as my busy schedule allows it 😁
Also, I won´t be tagging anyone this time to keep my focus, so if you found this, congratulations, you are part of the secret catpost club now 😁
Day 1:
Woke up early to go to work today, due to the constant traffic issues caused by some construction work. I had an itch to pop some headphones on, despite most of the time commuting without them. I told myself we are not doing this today, and I can cope for a week. Browsed reddit instead. I had a lot of noise at work, but none of it was by choice. I came home in the same silence I travelled with in the morning. To make things harder, I had to take the bus today as my brother couldn´t pick me up like he usually does, making my commute way longer than I would like to. Luckily the bus connection was okay.
When I came home, I considered putting some background noise on, but managed to rest in silence. I eventually ended up falling asleep for a mini nap that i wouldn´t be able to do if i was distracted. I finally made myself wake up by taking a shower and now we get to the interesting part of having to survive like 3 more hours of entertaining myself in a hopefully little more mindful way. I´m already falling on face, this won´t be easy
@sadcat13 yesssss I'm part of the secret cat club😁💖😁 your very brave, I couldn't listen to nothing but myself for a week. But you can do this, I'm rooting for you 💗
@Tinywhisper11 thank you, and welcome in the super secret club 😁
Proud to be a part of the secret cat post club😋
@starrySun5241 *whispers so only you can hear* banana is the secret password, welcome to the cat club 💖
As a chronic multitasker I literally feel what you are going through, it's amazing that you are prioritising your mental health, and what you are doing is just too good, keep up, and do share the updates so we keep you reminded to take care of yourself✨
Day 2:
It´s only day two and it´s getting hard. Before and after work, I keep being haunted by song snippets in my mind that make me want to listen to the song. I fought a hard battle on the youtube shorts ground, and while they are technically not really against the challenge as long as they have my full attention, I managed to control myself and snap out of it after like 1-3 shorts, what happened around 2-3 times during the evening. I tried to play a little with my coloring app, but it was a big mistake, as that´s when i listen to most stuff. Pavlov reflex kicked in and all I wanted was something, anything to listen to. Stood my ground and coloured in silence, but couldn´t help the song snippets in my mind. And that´s how my neighbours and family got to enjoy a very flawed rendition of "Under your scars" 😂😂😂😂😂😂
things I noticed so far:
- singing a lot (it´s probably viewed in a positive light by only me and the local ear plug sellers 😂😂😂😂)
- having a really cool idea about how to give my work uniform into a little seasonal mood for a holiday I´m looking forward to
- feeling incredibly tired as my body´s needs are not tuned out by constant distraction attempts
- having deeper and more engaging interactions while talking to someone where I would usually multitask
5 more days ahead
@sadcat13 your doing great💖💖 and wow your creative and social side is already improving so much 💖 I'm really proud of you 💗keep going 💖
@Tinywhisper11 thank you 😊 day 3 of the experiment ahead 😊
Day 3:
Been too tired the entire day to care about sounds, as I had to wake up early, go to work and only rest after coming home. I ended up watching my bf stream a game for me and colouring a bit in my app later. Yay.
@sadcat13 day 3 successfully completed💖💖 woohoo!!
Sorry you have to get up so early to get to work🙁 but at least no noise can help you sleep a bit easier💖💖
@Tinywhisper11 yesssss. I have 4 days free now and get to rest 😁
@sadcat13 yaaaay 💖💖💖
Hiiii! Secret cat club? I’m in hehe
@jesusredeemedme2425 *whispers to kiara* the password is banana 💖 welcome to our secret cat club💖
BANANA!!!!!!
*meow*
@jesusredeemedme2425 absolutely
Day 4: travelled to a 3 day mini holiday. I didn't really have an opportunity to be bored or consider audio distractions, but I surely got annoyed by my travel squad a few times lol. I'm exhausted from the astounding 2 hours in car with a mid break (central Europe distance spoiled). But as of now, I'm not really craving any sounds. In fact I want peace and quiet after the constant talk around me 😂
@sadcat13 your doing soooo well, I'm so proud of you 💗💗 I would have went crazy 3 days ago
@Tinywhisper11 what do you enjoy listening to 😊
@sadcat13 I listen to music all day and all night, it drowns out the voices💖
@Tinywhisper11 it's great that it helps you ❤️ what kind of music do you listen to? I know you like Christmas one, is there something else too?
Night 4 diaries:
Not having access to WiFi or my pc is lessening my need to listen to stuff, as I'm too scrooge to drain my data on video or audio stuff. I actually found a book containing 4 shorter novels and I got to reading. I'm on page 74, and having a good time

Polish? Maybe?
@jesusredeemedme2425 Slovak, but If it helps, you weren't that far off, my bf is polish, so there is definitely some polish learning happening over here ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have a friend who speaks Polish, and it looked similar to me hehe
Also what is that word? Curious minds want to know… hehe
@jesusredeemedme2425 awesome 😁 polish people are based. Opýtaj sa means ask. But not to ask but ask. So it's in content of go ask someone, not to ask, that would end with ť.
Are Polish words pronounced the way they look?
And Slovak?
@jesusredeemedme2425 basically, Slovak is easier with it's Grammar rules, and how to pronounce what. While polish doesn't have too much of the different writing then pronouncing, the problem is they have incredibly complicated letter clumps. Like okulary przeciwsłoneczne (sunglasses) almost broke my tongue when I tried. Put it into Google translate to hear how to say it.
Day 5:
Had a resting day, read a lot and visited my uncle and his family. It was very nice and I didn't need any audio distractions. But tomorrow will be hard, as i will need to manage on my own.
@sadcat13 sounds like you had a nice day 💖 your not alone tommorow we are here for you 💗 you can do this, your so close now 💖 gives you a giant tiny hug 💗I love you 💗
