ReservedOwl321 Path Progress

I hope it is ok to post this here.  As I progress on my path I keep coming across new ideas that help me in different ways and would like to share them here.  It also keeps pushing me to post on the forums, so here I am.  The path I am on is the friend-making lonlieness path, but it is different from what I expected.  I am nearing level 200 on the path.  I'm not sure if I will keep with this path or move to anxiety, but I absolutely love the concept of the path.  It is super helpful and engaging for me so far and I feel I am learning to better get in touch with my feelings.

I have picked up skills from so many of the steps but so far the most useful section that I have come across but have yet to be able to tackle is to write a letter to someone and call them and read your heartfelt letter to them.  I have someone in mind that I have needed to contact for years, but I have what I call "phone fear" I am somewhat afraid to call and bother pretty much anyone for a personal call.

I have a question about the steps.  Can you go back and find a step you already completed? Sometimes I accidentally click the finish step button thinking I was clicking the video... Oops!

Hey hey @reservedOwl321 see? We meet again hehe!

It’s definitely okay to post here, as you’re trying to reflect on and track your progress but just for a future reference, we have a community dedicated to the Growth Paths here as well~ https://www.7cups.com/forum/path/

I am so glad to hear you’ve found the path steps valuable and helpful. It’s okay to switch back n forth between different paths according to your comfort and preference!

About being able to trace back your steps, yes you can do it. On the path page-for example this-  https://www.7cups.com/path/playlist/improving-your-communication-with-assertive-skills/ you can select any path you want and then you’ll find an option for the “path preview” clicking on this brings you to a page highlighting all the steps of the growth path and you can select any step you want to re-visit by clicking on the little “eye” like button that makes the step details/ content visible!

About making a call and reading out your letter~ what about it makes you feel most concerned with? 💛

Ooh and if you have any other questions about the path or forumland in general, feel free to ask!

@Sunisshiningandsoareyou Thank you for your response and for the links.  I thought there was a special place to put paths, but I wasn't able to find it. I hope can find my way back to this post.  I bookmarked so hopefully that will work 🙂

As far as what bothers me about calling I just have anxiety and worry and fear sometimes.  I guess also analysis paralysis.  Thank you for your question. My goal this week will be to take the first step and write a letter, then I will go from there.

It has been such a long day for me, but tomorrow is a new day!

That sounds really good about what you're doing. Thank you so much for posting and sharing. That's wonderful Sun was able to be so helpful! I hope you can find your way back and continue working on your growth path. I think that is so fantastic!

I hope you do well with your letter. And then, you can slay the phone dragon. 😁.

I'd like to make a quick suggestion about finding past posts. If you click on the community tab at the top of the page and then look at the page, you should see a search bar.

If you could remember part of the title or better yet the whole title of the post, you can type it in the search bar. This will bring up a lot of results. The first set of results is all of the posts on the site, and if you get lucky you might be able to scroll through them and find the one you're looking for.

At this time, there's a box that says just "my threads" and if you click on that and hit the search button again..... it will bring you to "just" your posts with those words in the title. (a lot easier to find).

In this case, if all I could remember is, (progress path), i would put that in the search bar.

I hope this helps. It's not perfect but it has helped me several times trying to find posts that I sort of remembered the title name but maybe not 100%. Sometimes it didn't help because there were too many results and it wasn't one of my posts but it was something that I was looking for, from someone else. But for me, it was always worth a try. 😊. Good luck and have a great day!

@IsayUncle Thank you for the encouragement and for the tips on navigating the forums!  I learned something new about the search bar and will make use of it!

🤔I accidentally went back to step 3 on my path today and had a basic general meditation.  After I finished I realized it was not the meditation I was supposed to be on as I hadn't logged in.  It was helpful.  I have been advised to try relaxation techniques like this, but they are very hard for me.  I like to be active, but my body doesn't agree most of the time.  I have been in and out of physical therapy a lot, and I feel they go way to easy on me, but usually they tell me my body is telling me to slow down and not do so much.  I think I need to work on this and learn to slow down in a way that doesn't seem whats the word... lazy slothful... I guess you might describe me as a workaholic and a lot of the time I feel like I'm spinning my wheels.  That is why I like the path.  I love how it forces me to just focus on the next step one at a time and is laid out for me 💕. I appreciate you all for creating these! 😍🫶  TYSM!👍 I wonder if it will eventually encourage me to stop the path altogether...  These are my thoughts today.

Younger folks out there might get a kick out of this... but I don't get emojis! 😄😃😀🤣😇😱😓  So if I use the wrong one, please forgive me.  I noticed that I can learn what the emojis are for in this program and I think that is pretty cool.  For those of you who ascribe meaning to them, I am impressed!

My path is encouraging me to post again, so here I am. Step 273 approximately. I updated my picture yesterday. What do you think?

I am asked what I have done that is good in the last few days. This is a good prompt as I don't/can't usually think about what I have been doing. I read an article that prompted me to reflect on the day ahead in the morning when you are making a to do list, then at the end of the day reflect on how your day went. That reminded me of this and I need to try to make it a habit.

I am taking a day off of the gym as I feel like I am getting sick 🤢. There is a Spanish event I wanted to go to as well, but it's probably better that I don't go. It is a regular event that I have been wanting to attend for months, but it never seems to work out. 😢 I've apparently been procrastinating the letter, but it looks like this will be on my list today.

Cool Owl!

It's nice to hear you peacefully talking about the things that you're thinking about, planning and doing.

Good job.. Don't let that letter bog you down too much. Even when we are "doing good", we still have to deal with hard stuff, but you can do it. 😃🤗

Thank you for the encouragement. I have been procrastinating, but did get it started. They say even if you don't send it that writing a letter to someone that you have something to say to really helps you get it off your chest. I just needed to do this.

I can relate about the letter.

I wrote one that was on hold, for one reason or another, for 3 years. Not being able to find healing words, was one reason, amongst other things. But finally (actually with help from a couple members here), I completed a heartfelt, sensible version I was satisfied with.

I have not gotten a reply, and now, do not expect one. BUT... it is such a load off of my shoulders. Well worth doing, even if i do not get any personal resolution. I did my best, and now, can let it go. Plus it could possibly open a door in the future. If it took me 3 years, maybe it will take them 4.

So I'd like to encourage you. But just know when the tme is right, you'll finish it the way it needs to be done. And hopefully it brings some comfort or vindication to your satisfaction.

@IsayUncle

I'm glad you were able to get your letter written.  I'm sure it will take some time for me also.  I am so behind this week and am trying to get caught up after going out of town last weekend.  I actually have written to this person in the past, but the mail was returned and I have mentioned it to them as I feel more comfortable using snail mail, so I'm glad the exercise is to call and read the letter.  That way I can be sure to cover all of my thoughts, but also get immediate feedback.

It has been a busy day for me. I haven't been resting much even though I am sick.  I cancelled my appointments and ate some food.  I will try to relax this evening.  I had my husband help with some of the groceries so that is done.  Hoping I can get him to help with the lawn.  My daughter said she would do it if I pay her, but I'll believe it when I see it.  She has a lot of trouble focusing on a task.  Now I guess I'll get back to my questionaires.

I thought you had written a letter earlier. It hurts when there is not a mutual goal to smooth things over.

You have a lot of other stuff going on, which has to take priority over fighting the tide of silence. I wish you, good will and paitience.

That's good you can get a little help. Hopefull y our daughter suprises you... that would be nice.

@IsayUncle

I have more so tried to send Christmas Cards and keep in touch when I am able, but they have been returned.  This is not natural for me to send a letter.

I do have a lot going on and my daughter was recently diagnosed with ASD and she has ADHD.  She has been a handful, and now we are trying to line up treatments for her.  It makes it really difficult to have time for me and any priorities I have.  She is a very motivated kid, I just have to work with her or get my husband to work with her to keep her focused on her task.

I'm sorry you both have to struggle through, but there's light at the end. For of all your efforts.

You sound like a wonderful mom. 😊. it must be very hard to focus on "you" most of the time.

It's really good you are taking those steps and focusing on "you" when you can. You are so awesome for doing that too! Amazing!

I got to step 309 or so. Watched goats running, how cute! I'm supposed to post so here I am again:)

I'm sick so my main game plan is to try to get better. I have some work I can do while I rest, but this path is also helping force me to get rest.

Step 472

I haven't had as many ahaa moments with the path as I had in the past, so not as much to post about, but I have returned to the video about calling and reading a letter to a friend and I am stuck.  I am just scared to face this challenge.  I'm not sure what it is other than just phone fear, but I just can't do it and want to skip it.  I hate that I can't do it, but it causes me so much

I really like the prompts that encourage you to think about your day.  Maybe I will save the video, switch paths and come back to this one in the future.

I couldn't think of the word trepidation there.

@reservedOwl321

I understand that. 😔. trepidation. (accurate )

You have a good idea about circling around back to it later.

You must be leveling out a little bit, you done a lot more steps and not having any aha moments, is not necessarily a bad thing I don't think. I think it's really good that you're without the boost from aha moments.

With that said, aha moments are pretty cool so I hope you nailed one or two next week. 😊. Either way, you are really doing awesome!

I'm still working on this path. I actually stopped and started over. I'm taking it much slower now. I am on the friend making and loneliness path again. I looked at some others, but I preferred this one. I would like to reconnect with offline friends old and new more. One tip I picked up is to keep a spreadsheet to help remember important information and the times you connect. Wondering if anyone has done this

@reservedOwl321

I suffer from this also. I haven't done a spread sheet but i try to log encountrs so i can remember details later. I have notebooks of friends and family encounters....

I suffer from no, and i mean, NO memory for details. It has dissassociated from all forms of social connection through casual convesations because i have nothing common to contribute to a relationship in a mutual conversation.

So i think a spreadsheet is a good idea. I think it helps, even if it is hard to keep up, it can still help a lot.
