One challenge I face when it comes to exercise is…
Hi everyone! I hope you are well. We all face different challenges when it comes to exercising, some motivational, some physical, and sometimes mental.
What is one challenge you face when exercising?
@Hope
For me, a challenge is creating a routine and sticking with it, sometimes when the motivation wears off, it's difficult to follow through, other times just mental health coming in the way. Trying to get better at it, building a discipline!😊

I have the same problem! The routine feels so fragile to me, it's hard for me to recognize which routine is realistic and which isn't
@smolLITTLEpotato
Aww i'm both sorry and relieved you relate, its comforting when you don't feel alone, but oof the struggles, I wouldnt want anyone else struggling also. :/
I feel a realistic routine would be something that works for you and is achievable for you, it would be cruel on us to set some goals we know we are at step 50 when we are only starting, setting SMART goals for ourselves might be a good way to begin.
I also feel that when we look at the whole cake it might feel overwhelming to take it in, and finish in one go, we probably wouldn't even start or know from where to do so, the nerves make everything feel cloudy, but if we try and take it one cake slice at a time, maybe that'll help us move to the next better, while savoring what we nommed prior! I dunno how much sense this analogy makes lol, but you get the gist, I hope!
We got this hehe, we gotta take time to figure what works for us and then start somewhere. I'm cheering for youuu!💛
@Hope
Hi hope
I hope you are fine
Actually I always feel its hard for me to find a motivation to make exercise at home but even though how many times I don't exercise I always return to do it 😅🤗
@Hope
Getting to a place where u can push past resistances to actually get up and put in some effort, is first. Then having the discipline/consistency needed to keep it up, is second. Seems this cycle repeats.
Have no problems when in the zone. I get very into it and need it to help me cope and keep me stable. Often wonder if I end up developing unhealthy associations with it 🤔 I jog, and If I can't get out for a run negative energy builds up fast and I become irritable, moody etc. It doesn't really matter though, cuz as quick as I get into the zone, I am out of it just as quick 😬
I need to get over the feeling I am taking time away from more important things when I exercise.
I often feel like a nap is better self care. I find it impossible to exercise well at home beyond stretching out and am considering a gym. Just wish it was not so far to drive(rural)
@Hope I usually procrastinate and make excuses to myself that I don't have time. But I lie to myself because sometimes I spend time scrolling the phone or prioritizing other things. 🙈
Prioritizing it. I am so overwhelmed with things to do, I feel like I am not doing right when exercising.
I have been working out in some shape or form for my whole life so I have developed a discipline and routine that I pretty much follow for my workouts. I'm usually pretty good at self motivating to get going, also. When life or my mental health gets in the way though, it really gets in the way. A lot of folks say that going to the gym helps their mental health, helps them escape and forget things for a while. While this actually does work for me most of the time, there are times when working out only takes me back into my own head and makes it worse, if you can follow that. One time, I had some major stress that I wanted to get away from and forget about for a while so I decided to go on a long bike ride. I spent the whole 50 miles thinking about the problem and the what-ifs and it only made it worse. So when I have bigger issues, I tend to stay away from the workouts and spend some free time mindlessly scrolling and surfing the internet, to try to engage my mind with something else and forget for a bit. I know that isn't good for me, and I hate it, but it has turned into my coping mechanism.
