Accountability buddy
Hi! would anyone like to be accountability buddies?
I've been struggling with habits and I feel like I can't break them on my own right now.. I'm trying to stop doom scrolling and other bad habits, keep up certain habits, and get better at taking care of my mental health. So it would be super cool to have someone to help.. I'll also be happy to help you with habits you want to change.
I made a post about this before but I can't find it to check the comments 😭
@RaspberryRaptor
It's great that you can see that you need to do certain things to impact and change your mental health.
Small, little changes , everyday.
One day at a time.
It is hard at first but possible.
It's amazing you are taking the first steps 💕💜

Thank you for this:D
@RaspberryRaptor
A pleasure 💜
@RaspberryRaptor i'm doing something like this too, would like to help, how are you planning to do it?
Cool. I'm thinking of maybe asking each other questions about what we did today, like for example how much did you spend time online or did you do whatever goal your trying to do? Basically like check ins, and also maybe send each other reminders too about our goals and motivate each other. I'd prefer to do it daily if possible, I'm new to this so any other suggestions are welcome too.
@RaspberryRaptor That looks like a good plan to start, I'll be happy to help, I'll just drop in and ask about your day and stuff(daily if I can). The way I'm doing is, I'm not pretending that change can come overnight and I can overcome the temptations just with my willpower. I'm trying to get rid of my porn addiction, and the thing I learnt is, I'm not a saint so, there will be temptations, and I would succumb sooner or later.
What used to happen was, I thought suppressing the urge would make it go away but it just made it worse and eventually I would relapse. But what I'm doing different now is I'm not trying to suppress the urge, I'm just embracing the urge and anything that triggered the event, I'm not looking away but look right at it and say, not today. Somehow it's working for me. And if you're into it, religious stuff helps too.
Why I shared the story was, you may fail the first few times, but don't worry, just learn what your trigger points are, and decide how to deal with them, one step at a time. I hope that made sense.
Hey sorry about the late reply! I was really busy yesterday, just wanna say thank you for sharing that, your definitely not alone in dealing with that alot of people struggle with those addictions too. I agree, I think it's a really good mindset to have of not expecting change right away overnight because I think that leads people to being hard on themselves and it makes it even harder to break those habits.
@RaspberryRaptor It's really brave of you to post this. It's tough trying to break habits alone. I'd love to be accountability buddies. I need to work on being more consistent with my own self-care habits. Let's help each other out!
Thank you, and sounds good, would be really awesome to be accountability buddies!! Can I message you so we can talk more about the details on chat? Definitely makes a difference to have someone who can support each other with their goals.
Hey Thanks for checking in, would you mind me messaging you to continue this on a chat? Just so it's easier
