Ok so most people struggle with this. A bit about my background.

Hoarder ***

First husband and his parents had trapped me in a literally toxic hoarder living space. We had spiders, mice, ants!! I walked around barefoot and contracted a serious infection, cellulitis, that required weeks of antibiotic infusions to solve (I also had bacteremia).

I was disabled couldn't clean and the three fully able adults I lived with refused to do it.

I eventually realized I would literally die if I stayed and fled the house of horrors!!

Staying Alive

So clean is now very important to me. People come into my home cannot believe how clean it is despite I spend most of my time in bed now!! I do all the cleaning and cooking myself and they really can't bend their minds around that either!

I have held jobs in commercial kitchens and restaurants so that's cooking. Cleaning I also did professionally so here are some tips from me how do I do it????

How I Do It

  • I never let it go to disaster relief needed. If you have done so, get help restoring your home to a clean, safe, nice space to be in. Because your physical and mental health depend on it.
  • I clean messes as I go. When I finish in the kitchen, everything is wiped down, put away and dishes soaking in the sink. If the floor needs a sweep and mop, I look for the mess and sweep only the mess. If mopping is needed, I spray cleaner directly on what needs the mop and then mop up the spots.
  • Dishes soak overnight I rinse and put away in the morning. No scrubbing the soapy water dissolved stuff and the soap has a sanitizing effect. So it is just rinse and put away. Yeah I just put them away. Pro kitchens do exactly that!!
  • Toilet messes get cleaned immediately. If I left some stains I shoot some toilet bowl cleaner into the bowl, give it a quick scrub and use the brush. At the same time I get any yucky areas around the seat. I don't use the brush ON the seat but it is good for behind and underneath it!!
  • If there are spots on the floor or sink I wipe them up immediately.
  • I rinse my mop in the bathtub AND use it simultaneously to clean the tub and walls!! Use the shower move the head around to give everything a good rinse, let dry.

I spend very little time cleaning and most of my time in bed.

This works!!!

@RogueOne1983

You makes good suggestions and it is a reminder to those who let things slide a bit if you can mange when you have limitations that perhaps they can do it too .

my only frustration in cleaning is i clean up spots / spills as they happen but my spouse does not. i used to make excuses in cleaning when kids where little and all but really doing it as you go does not take any more time then having to do recovery mode after someone has let some things go.

It does make you feel i think in a better mood when you are in clean surroundings.

I put removable shower heads wothbhoses in my bathrooms and keep them my rental houses. It makes it so easy to rinse walls after using scouring powder or other cleaners. Also makes working woth a mop bucket and such easier.

You can loosen and olace shower curtain rod back near wall and hangng blinds and such for cleaning rinsing and drying in the shower/tub using the sprayer.

I also clean kitchen as I cook and clean stove as I cook. This makes cleanup so much easier after eating. We try to rinse anything that is apt to dry on right away.

I must confess I have allowed some clutter to be common place in my house however I am gaining ground. My kitchen bathrooms and living room are in order and the floors are clean overall.

I am working on windows, inside the tracks and frames and the screens of late. One a week is my goal.
