Self-care box

When you experience some difficulties with practicing self-care, Please know that this not mean that this is because you are not trying hard enough. Being kind to yourself is not always as easy as it sounds, especially when you are feeling overwhelmed.

If this is the reason that this is hard for you, it might help to create a self-care box. This is a box as big or as small as you like, that you create when you feel relatively okay. You can fill this box with things that you think might be helpful at a tough time, and might help you to take care of yourself.

Examples:

* Cup a soup

* Tea bag

* A phone number of someone you would like to reach out to

* A piece of paper and a pencil

* A list of your favorite movies, songs or podcasts

* A small gift for yourself

* A letter that you write to yourself

* A message from someone else

You can save this box in a place you can easily reach, and open it when you feel overwhelmed and want to take care of yourself, but don't know how.

You got this ❤️

Love,

@Essy1990 that's a great idea. I'm really really bad at self care. I'm gonna have to think about this, thanks for sharing this idea with us ❤❤

❤️ Hopefully if you decide to give it a go, it will help you a bit in this self-care journey, @Tinywhisper11. I know it can be challenging. And even thinking about it is a step that deserves a big 🎉 cheer 🎉 from my side.

What a beautiful idea, Essy!

I will put it into practice.

I will include mementos of happy times in my life (like brochures of nice places I have visited and printed photos). Also, a list of the music most uplifting to me, because I forget to listen to music that improves my mood.

I have been reading your posts and they are all very useful, supportive, well-written, and full of valuable ideas.

You are very kind, knowledgeable, creative and talented!

I am so happy that you joined 7 Cups!

Thank you for taking the time to write your great posts for the benefit of us all in this Community!

Dear @HealingTalk,

What a good idea to put in things that remind you to good times in your life. I think this is a very beautiful way to take care of yourself during a challenging time. ❤️

And thank you for saying that. It is a pleasure, really. I love how we can all learn from each other and grow together.🌱

Thank you for being part of it as well. ✨ Have a lovely Saturday and take care.

@HealingTalk oooo! I'd love to hear about all your adventures, and places you've been ❤❤ although one day I dream of being a explorer, in reality that will never happen. I've never been anywhere really, so I like to see the world through others eyes, with photos. I learn so much that way, and yes happy meaningful music is a must. Have I told you lately I love you??? Well I do love you ❤ I hope your doing a bit better??

Thank you, Lola for being so caring and loving!

I have been to a few nice places on vacations, but most of what I know about the world and reality (like those things about the Universe, remember?) I learned from books and documentaries. They expanded my consciousness about life, matter, the universe, our mind, etc. So you can be a great armchair explorer maybe the most powerful way of exploration.

Besides, many writers wrote very detailed depictions of places they knew only by reading about them, William Shakespeare comes to mind with Romeo and Juliet (in Verona) and The Merchant of Venice (he never went there). Or Agatha Christie, who wrote Murder on the Orient Express a train that went from England to Turkey (never went there either).

Something fun is that Verona is mostly known as the city of Romeo and Juliet! Shakespeare made famous a city he never visited, and his fictional characters are considered the most important people who ever lived there. 😀

I think that area is one of the very best places in the world to live. So rich in history, culture, and natural beauty!

Shakespeare was incredible. How someone can write so many huge superb plays? It also amazes me how actors who play the main characters can remember their looong and complex parts to perform them. That's super-human really.

And yes, you are always genuinely interested in all sorts of things and ideas. I think that the engine that creates so much curiosity and zest for learning is a sense of wonder and appreciation for the world around you.

Being in awe and wonder is an ideal mindset to have. That despite our troubles and challenges in life, as intelligent and conscious beings, we have this opportunity to be aware of so many wonderful things all around us.

Sending you lots of love! 💜 💜 💜

I hear a small bag one can take anywhere also helps. It could again include a tea bag, and also perhaps a soft piece of fabric, some crystals or stones like a worry stone, treats like a couple specialty biscuits/cookies or chocolate truffles, bangles, a mini book of comforting quotes or passages, a mini journal and pen/pencil and maybe some sunglasses.

@Essy1990 I am so glad to see someone made a post about these. I had never heard of it until my last hospital stay when we made them one day. Just decorating the box was therapeutic.
