Trying New Fruits and Veggies!
I’m inspired to try new fruits, and eventually veggies/legumes/fungi/etc, and I wanted to open up that inspiration to the 7Cups community! <3
Please tell us about the new fruits and veggies you try, or that you’re intrigued by and want to try. Also, please tell us about the local fruits in your country/culture that others may want to try (for example, I’ve never tried a kiwano, prickly pear, or pawpaw, but these are everyday staples in some cultures).
And not just fruits and veggies! Tell us about mushrooms, and nuts, and grains, and honey, and spices, and other healthy foods that you try, or want to try! Let’s all get healthier together just by exploring the natural foods of the world together! <3
I tried a Sugar Bee apple (no, I’d never heard of it either lol). It was very meh. It was… just an apple. With a very apple-y flavor. There was nothing exciting about it. I was disappointed lol
FYI… It wasn’t bad lol. I was just hoping for it being more exciting than it was lol
I tried Saturn peaches the other day!
AI says:
“Saturn peaches! They're a type of flat peach, also known as "doughnut peaches" or "saucer peaches." Their unique shape, with a flat, saucer-like appearance and a sweet, juicy flavor, makes them a favorite among peach enthusiasts.
Some fun facts about Saturn peaches:
1. They're a heirloom variety, often picked when ripe and enjoyed fresh.
2. Their flat shape makes them perfect for snacking, baking, or adding to salads.
3. Saturn peaches are sweet and tender, with a soft texture.’
They’re really small and cute, and they taste really good. Also, they’re so small that because I just bought one, it cost 60 cents! So they’re cheap enough to try, and you’ll like them :)
I also tried a yellow Bartlett pear. It tasted strangely of cigarettes. I didn’t like it, and I didn’t finish it lol
@jesusredeemedme2425 Trying fruits is good. Its good to try new things.
I’m eating a Pazazz apple right now <3
It has a very bright, lively flavor, but it’s not as sweet as I would like. I personally prefer sweet apples over less sweet <3

@jesusredeemedme2425 this is such a lovely post, but my ocd and arfid don´t let me try new stuff. I will be tagging along, using this thread as encouragement and first step to getting to know new foods 😊
That works for me <3
What fruits do you like? Give us some suggestions <3
@jesusredeemedme2425 the most basic apples, pears, oranges, tangerines, grapes, blueberries and stuff 😁 I'm also afraid of bananas 😂😂😂
MUST EXPLAIN LAST PART
lol
@jesusredeemedme2425

nah. My fear is much more ocd based on what if i am allergic to them, + they are a bit harder for me to digest and not enjoying these tiny seed like dots that are there sometimes. So my fear is more ocd based, allowing me to eat just a little of them ocassionally
They’re super mild and easy on your tummy <3
@jesusredeemedme2425 we actually have family history of having problems with them for some reason. I think mom can also feel bad from it? Like it's hard for us to digest but don't know why
Ah, you’re a cat with allergies ;)
@jesusredeemedme2425 oddly enough I don't have a confirmed banana allergy, just a very loud OCD lol. I'm allergic to strawberries and tomatoes tho (very high histamine triggers, + should avoid mango and avocado as someone with my exact allergy history turned out to develop an allergy to those too a little later in life).
Neither will kill me, as I'm incredibly thankful I do not go into anaphylaxis, worst I ever had was full body allergic hives rash but it can still make me feel bad for hours even in small amounts. Like. Real bad. Not bit of nausea bad. (Although severity of it is obviously depending on the amount I eat, I can have a little of ketchup, but no strawberry under any circumstances, symptoms range from mildly upset tummy through my body rejecting it in more active and less pretty ways to being rushed to the ER thinking I have appendicitis as a child just to be told yeah I ate too many canned strawberries)
Imagine my dumb *** forgetting pizza has tomato paste on it and thinking there must have been too much oil on it and I must have had too much of it to make me feel so bad. Repeatedly. For hours. And then one day it just clicked that OHHHHH. IT HAS TOMATO PASTE ON IT 😂😂😂
I mean… i wouldn’t have thought it was tomato paste either. I thought it was tomato sauce. Or is it?? lol
@jesusredeemedme2425
Omg. I'm actually in that same zone currently where I'm looking to try new health rich food items.
I recently tried cherry tomatoes for the first time. I made a bruschetta and pasta out of it. I'm also regularly consuming seedless dates, they're supposed to help with iron deficiency. Coconut water once or twice a week. Red globe grape juice once in a while. It's a mock wine to me lol.
Rolled up oats and homemade protein smoothies are next up on my list.
Yes, I've a recommendation - please try watermelon feta salad. It's crazy good.

Cherry tomatoes are really good and sweet <3
@jesusredeemedme2425
I've a few left. What do I do with them lol?
Dip them in salad dressing as a snack! I recommend Thousand Island <3
@trueconfidant123 watermelon feta salad is amazing! With balsamic vinegar??
@PiecesOfWhoeverIWas
Yes!!
@trueconfidant123 yum!!
@jesusredeemedme2425 I discovered wild persimmons in my yard! They are sweet, very sugary. So many seeds! I don’t know how else to describe. Going to try making jelly!! 😵💫
Wild persimmons are a thing???
@jesusredeemedme2425 Oh yeah. Usually possums, raccoons, aardvarks, or skunks eat the persimmons. 😳 If I can get them before that, I’ll make jelly. I have a container in my fridge, and I’m currently debating whether to make jelly or toss it. 😋 Maybe I’ll give it to my chickens.
Aardvarks???
@jesusredeemedme2425 @trueconfidant123 Sorry I meant armadillos! I couldn’t think of the word at the time. I was like… I don’t think aardvark sounds right, but maybe that’s it. So I just gave up and clicked post. 😂
I was like… Where on earth do you live???? XD
@jesusredeemedme2425 😂
