@CyclingThroughLife
Hey Cycling, We're starting a new week. How are you feeling today?
You may have noticed I cleaned up the tag list, The reason??? BUT what's important, is, if you want, I'd be glad to add you to it. I know you can find us whenever you want, so I don't wish to impose.
It's always nice when you pop in with an encouaging word and a quick hello. Just remember. we are here, also, to listen and support. Feel like sharing for a while? It'd be nice to stay in touch more!
I hope you have a wonderful day and a great week! 😃
@IsayUncle
Thanks for offering to add me to the taglines. I think I'd like that. I'm having trouble navagating the page. All the advertisements are causing me issues.....it looks too......"busy"......"overwhelming" at times.....I like a clean and smooth experience if you know what I mean....I also can't find where I go to find my bookmarks.....I have my own spots that I can't find anymore..... I won't say I'll try to get in more often because I don't want to lie to you lol......but I'd like to be tagged if you will have me.....have a great day.....
@CyclingThroughLife The ads are a bit much more than I thought they would be. They're distracting and intrusive.
@mytwistedsoul
Yea, i did a deeper dive into that and have real mixed anxieties about it all BUT have no time i want to use to address them aall. the worst ones are the sexully suggestive and unpleasant shock factor effects.... and then all the blinkiing and sparadic presentations.
I didn't relize it, but, i think @GlenM (psychologist Dr. Glen Moriarty) started this platform in 2013... and started lesser advertisements for therapists a little later. There's other links and threads about his decision making, I think in about 2019 to start allowing more advertisements.
The worst part some of the silly stuff we get censored on, but now it's ok to put them on the page if you pay for the privilage. (This is a very selfish and cynical point of view because I know there is a lot of work that is done to try to protect the site) .... But the sad truth is if you can pay, you can play and get around the censorships.
P.S. @GlenM. it is still a very good site and thank you for designing and promoting it, to genuinely help so many.
@CyclingThroughLife I get that. What I don't like is that the ads have to load first which can cause the rest of the things on the page to shift and you end up clicking the wrong thing (which is what I did when trying to get to this section).
@IsayUncle
And I'm off work today so later on I will come back in and answer some of your questions from last week when I swooped in unannounced......
@IsayUncle
The other day you wrote:
"I often wonder if cycling It's still a big part of your personal focus and activity. I know you developed some medical stuff and I don't know if that interfered with your cycling. I also remember you were getting close to retiring, and if that happened yet."
Cycling is still a part of my focus and activities yet my body won't let me do it like I used to. It takes a lot longer to recover and I am learning to accept that....I have incorporated more walking and elliptical for cardio.....not that anyone wants to hear this when it comes to my medical stuff, but the prostate played a large part in it(TMI, I know)......sitting on the bike seat took me out of the game for a while....but my doctor, my body and my brain came to a compromise.....While it sucks that I can't ride as long, as far, and as many days a week that I want to, I have found a balance that allows me to still enjoy riding. I also have some arthritis things going on in my knees and hips that have added to the mix.....after trial and error over the last year and half, I am on a couple of medications that greatly improve my quality of life in both areas of concern for me..... Of course living in New England, the winters, cold, damp, don't help my arthritis and I still have terrible flair ups in conjunction with the weather but again, I have learned to live with it and found ways to get by......it is amazing how certain medications can improve your quality of life if you do what you are supposed to while taking them.......
As for retirement......I can retire in January of 2027......I won't because my son just graduated high school and will be starting college in the fall.....my plan is to work until he graduates college.....so I set a date of October 1, 2030. My girlfriend can't retire until Sept 2030 so I figured why not work until she can retire and we will move south after that.....It will feel good though, knowing that anytime after January, if work rubs me the wrong way, I can go.....of course I am planning my finances working until 2030, which will add approximately $6000 a year to my retirement vs if I went in January 2027......anyway, we are getting ready for it though.....we have purchased our retirement condo in SC....we have plans to go there 4 times a year and have set it up for rentals the rest of the year in hopes it will pay for itself until we retire and move....I'm hoping the nicer weather down there will help my arthritis.....so there it is in a nutshell.....
I hope you are having a great Monday.....
@CyclingThroughLife
Well now, Thanks for sharing. I feel and hear a more solid tone in your demeanor. It used to feel like it was spasmodic and grasping. You had so many things going on and you were trying so hard to rein everything in. It's probably no easier.... but it seems you have a doable and closer & Nice goals.
It sounds like you, now, have things a lot more solid (I don't dare say in control hehe). But it sounds like you have a really solid plan, and it's close enough to be hopeful, and it all sounds really good.
To say that, with the realization that you had a ton more dumped on your shoulders with your health surprises, is saying a lot, you didn't crumble. I'm glad you brought us up to date, and most of us are old enough now, that it's not TMI... It's become real conversations for a lot of us. We understand. I hope you continue your recoveries, and overcoming.
I always had a lot of respect for for your determination and perseverance. Thanks again.
PS... Share anytime the dips along with the peaks. I think it helps others to hear and ourselves to speak it. (for me anyway). 😊
@IsayUncle @Enthenia @CyclingThroughLife @Amanda84
Happy Monday! I hope this is a good week for us all. Let's grab Monday by the horns!

To do - replace windshield cowl on car. Gather trash. See what wood I have to make a jewelry box.
@mytwistedsoul
@Amanda84

Oh. I didn't put my goal for the week. I actually forgot I had left this page open. I should get this taken care of then close it ecause I need to be doing work.
Um, I guess my goal for the week is to get more things put away in the apartment. My immediate goal is to get to an amount where I can order some groceries. I'm almost at $30 now so I've been doing well so far. I mean, yesterday I was at $20 so that's almost a $10 increase. About four more and I'll have $30. Of course, if I want to have things delivered (going to be over 103 here today so I'm hesitant to go to the store after work because there is no shade on the way home and with that, the weight of the bags, the strain on my leg...), I'll have to have enough for the delivery fee.
@Enthenia Oh my gosh! 103? That's too hot! It's cool here today, storms came through yesterday and pushed the temps and humidity down. I hope you reach your goal so you can get your groceries delivered, that way you don't have to strain and push through the heat

@mytwistedsoul actually it's close to 105. I've almost got $30 but there's an order minimum. I didn't realize that until I was trying to get my shopping cart to where I could afford it.
Unfortunately, there's also a cut-off time to place orders to be delivered today and I think I missed it.
So I may have to visit the store anyway. Just that the prices at the grocery store that's near the bus stop are higher so I won't be able to get much. I'm at $30 now but I have less than an hour left before I leave work.
Went to the store. Spent $30 and some odd cents. Made an extra dollar so I was able to cover it. Found some meat that was on markdown. It was over a pound and cheaper than the cut I was looking at. Got some salad, yogurt on clearance for me and some plain yogurt for the dog. Also got a refrigerated peanut butter bar and a breakfast burrito for breakfast. Oh and I was able to get a lunch kit because they were on sale so I can actually eat something this afternoon. Couldn't get as much as I had wanted but at least I was able to eat last night and bring things with me to the office.
I downloaded another rewards app. The reviews were solid (4.7) and I've only played one of the games it has to offer so far. It's a sorting game and when I checked last night, I had over $2 earned. Not a lot but the earning is faster than some of the other apps I've been using so I'll keep it for a bit. Maybe I can earn enough for some larger orders.
Waiting to hear back from a coworker to see if they can pull up customer data for me since my password expired and I can't get it reset because I stupidly left my ID, insurance cards, etc. at the old place and they were most likely thrown away. I still have to figure out how to get my replacement ID because I realized it won't do any good to have it mailed to the new address because the Post Office is holding everyone's mail because of multiple mail thefts in our complex and I can't get the mail without an ID. I'm thinking about having it sent to my work address but that doesn't help me now.
One of the leads was mad that I hadn't pulled the data yet and wants it done by the end of the day.
So again I'm an idiot for not taking every miniscule thing into account. And they're not likely to listen to an explanation because when I've tried to explain in the past, they just see it as excuses and get even more annoyed. Plus it's totally my fault that I'm not as perfect as them.
@Enthenia I'm glad you were able to get some groceries. 105 temperatures are wow - insane. We've had days when the heat index has hit that because of humidity but this year the weather has been weird. It was actually cold here this morning. Have you ever thought of doing any container gardening? You could grow lettuce and tomatoes. Peppers, green beans. Idk it was just a thought but it would have some initial cost.
@mytwistedsoul I don't know if the Post Office would. It's basically the door key. My "official employee ID" I guess was lost with everything else. I updated my address with the DMV but I don't remember seeing a mailing address option so it looks like it's going to be sent to the new address. I tried to get on and change the mailing address but there was no page to do that. I tried doing a search to see if it was absolutely necessary to have an ID for the Post Office and for package pick-ups, general delivery, or to sign for a package it is but my mail isn't marked as general delivery. It's being held there because they can't deliver to my property because of theft.
But, I got my outstanding balance on the Internet bill paid! Plus I paid down a past due bill. Not paid off but I made a payment. Need to do the electric and I still have to order food. Ordered some new shoes. Wanted to get a spare pair but the overall cost was more than I wanted to spend. I still have a lot of things to take care of. Of course, I don't want to spend my entire paycheck either. The new shoes will help with the foot pain though. It was about time to get new ones and my current ones were the ones I had to wear while the carpet was soaked and while they dried out, I'm sure some sort of damage was done.
@Enthenia I was looking online too lol. To see how or if you can get your mail with ID. It's a total pain I. the butt that your dealing with all this.ayne they'll let you just open that piece of mail and it will show it's you? That's probably wishful thinking though.
@mytwistedsoul the only potential problem I see with that is if I open the mail and it's not me (which is impossible) I could be considered tampering with the mail. If there had been an option to send it to a different address, I would have done so but I went to change the apartment number on the ID and there was no option for anything else aside from updating the election record.
Went over to the dog store and picked up a protein box at the coffee shop close by. Did a pastry too which I should not have done. I'm not feeling it now but I probably will in about an hour or so. Got some of the long lasting chew sticks for the dog so she'll be happy for a bit trying to find places to hide them and then changing her mind and hiding them somewhere else. Supposed to be 108 today and it's not really going to cool off until about one the next morning. I'll take her out close to six but I will really have to keep an eye on her. She'll keep going if I don't stop her especially if there are little kids in the dog area with us.
Bus was super late today and had to wait for the grocery delivery. Don't know why they used 20 bags. Found out that I had a missed call from a private number about an hour prior. It was from the animal control officer. I honestly thought all this was done with. I explained what happened to the dispatcher. Don't they keep notes? The dispatcher said she had put what I had said in the case. Do they not communicate with one another? Isn't that sort of the job of a dispatcher?
Yet again I'm being stigmatized due to events that were the result of a situation not of my own creation.
Why is it always on me?
@Enthenia Yeah you're right. Since it's being delivered to the post office because of mail theft they're probably even more cautious. I hope everything works out
@mytwistedsoul apparently they tried calling back yesterday when I was leaving work. I'll have to call again today. Seriously, I never should have reported the leak to begin with. That phone call has gotten me nothing but trouble. Just because someone reports something doesn't make it true. What about the people who confess to crimes they never committed or turning in false fire alarms?
My dog is not vicious and she certainly doesn't need to be put down because of one incident.
But again, it boils down to me being in the wrong. I should have been able to handle the entire affair (the leak, the move, etc.) at the drop of a hat. I should have been able to funtion perfectly with less than three days worth of sleep spread out over the course of a week and have been able to shift and move everything on me own without injuries or pain.
I should have been able to factor even the most miniscule thing in, accounted and compensated for it.
I know that's impossible but that's exactly what I'm supposed to do.
Called them back. Left a message. Forgot today was a holiday. I work in hospitality where holidays mean nothing. They'll be open tomorrow which would be better if I had a call them because we'd most likely be inside when they call. Aside from early morning and to take her out for a quick walk, we won't be going out that much. Too hot for her.
@Enthenia OMG please tell me they aren't implying that she needs to be put down! They need to take some things into consideration! The other dog startled her and you were both under a lot of stress with having to move and all the work that was being done from the first leak. She didn't bite anyone. She gets along with other dogs normally except for a few that are probably too in her face. She's allowed to have boundaries too. Forgive me for saying this but the neighbor that reported it is an ***!
@mytwistedsoul that's the thing. I won't know until I talk to the officer who gave me the tag.
But false reports are real. Some neighbors see it as a weapon against another neighbor for whatever reason. I didn't even know the lady lived near me until the apartment office called me to inquire about the incident. I have never seen her since that day either.
@Enthenia You're right that people do weaponize these things. Some people just like causing trouble for others.
@Enthenia
You have had quite a busy week. You actually made some good money with your games and surveys I guess. That was good you were able to get some groceries. Too bad you couldn't order them though and had to go to the store. I buy the discounted meat too.
When I get home, I usually take it out of the package rinse it dry it off with some tiles and then re wrap it and put it in the freezer. I've never had any trouble with it and I've always got a little bit of meat on hand, which is good.
I also hope things work out with your pup.
@IsayUncle, @mytwisted soul I have to wait until tomorrow. The officer in charge of the case was off today. I just want it all to be done with. She might not like the neighbor's dog but that doesn't make her vicious. She's good with a lot of dogs and children. She's quite patient with small children. She'll tolerate them awkwardly smacking her on the back in order to say hi. She likes when the older ones come into the dog area to play with her. She's patient when I have to do something. Like today, I had to go to the apartment office to get a package that was left there yesterday because the package lockers were out of order. I'll have to go again tomorrow because another item got delivered half an hour after I picked up the other box and I didn't know that until I checked my messages. Anyways, she was quiet and listened to my directions when it was time to go. She got a little excited because she knew she was going to go play with her toy in the dog area but that was normal.
I've made another $10 doing the surveys and almost $10 doing games. I'm thinking about taking her with me to the store tomorrow since I didn't get there today. I want to go early enough so I don't miss the call from the officer. I won't be able to get a lot but I should be able to get salads and meat. And eggs. I don't have any.
@Enthenia,
Yea, she sounds like a totally normal dog. She probably acts differently to a threatening neighbor than to the rest of the world. They can sense bad people. Ask the guy if a person antagonizes your dog, what to do? The hard part will be to prove the neighbors scent is antagonistic or dangerous.
But my point is, try to turn it around on the single neighbor and not the dogs normal social demeanor.
It's reallly good to hear that you are able to get some groceries. 😋👍.
@IsayUncle hoping I get the call today. My phone disconnected when I was talking with the dispatcher. It wanted to do Wifi calling for some reason. I thought they had Sundays off and I had been trying to tell the dispatcher that I didn't work yesterday but there had been no call.
Dog behaved well at the store (which I expected). Got her a treat. Spent more than what I had wanted to so I need to make up the difference today because I need to get my bus pass as the current one expires early tomorrow morning. The good thing is, I'm completely caught up at work so really the only thing I have to worry about is the phone call.
Browsing frozen grocery items even though I can't get anything right now. Just holding them in my cart. Getting those things in bulk (frozen things) might actually be better for me in the long run. Some of the prices of the frozen things are cheaper than what I have been getting although the quality isn't as good. This may have to be a trial and error thing.
@Enthenia
Ohhh Man... bad luck and bad timing with the dropped phone call. that happens to me sometimes too, i mean, just the worst luck at worst time.
It would have been good if you could finish your call with the dispatcher.
That sounds like a good idea with the frozen things. As you can afford you start to get a collection and then you can make differe dishes and stuff it's not as expensive as buying everything at the minute.
I think, if it's not all junk food, which I know you don't do too much, or just frozen snacks, The Frozen Whole Foods Seem to be comparable quality, of the same low cost similar items.
@IsayUncle I looked at a couple of the "convenience" frozen items. Most have a carb count I can't do. But one or two of them had levels that seemed okay. Like the quiches and one brand of cheese sticks wasn't too high. Just not sure if I want to pay the price for it. I could get something comprable at the store across the street if I wanted to stop off at it after work in the 105+ degree weather. And I will have to stop there today to get my bus pass. Been playing a water sorting game because right now it's 100% boosted so I'm trying to get as many points as I can before it wears off.
Need to get back to the survey site because I can get a quick $5 from there if I get surveys I qualify for. The ads for similar sites make it seem effortless which is untrue. I recently saw and advertisement for a platform I used to use and it made me laugh. They made it seem so easy to make $30 but they didn't say that the earnings were low or that you'd have to watch ads every 3 to five seconds. That was why I stopped using it. I didn't mind the games but I didn't like the ads especially not the ones where I couldn't mute the sound. I also didn't like the ones that would just barge right in with no warning when I was trying to strategize. When it would let me get back to the game page, I'd usually forget what move I was trying to execute.
Checked my survey account and I've already almost got $5 even though I haven't done anything. They do bonuses on Sunday and those really help. I just need to do enough surveys to get it up to $5 so I can get the bus pass after work. I had wanted to get one or two extra things but I don't know if I will be able to. I guess I'll just have to see how many I can do before I leave work.
Okay. Here we go. It's hard for me not to belittle my own achievements. I'm always living my life in an automatic mode... So this is going to be difficult for me.
First thing is that I'm trying to express more of my feeling in theraphy. I know I'm being seen by others, I know I struggle with finding the right words, I know I can have a mental blank, I know I'm in that moment where I fear looking vulnerable expressing some hard family issues but I'm going there, little by little. I express other things as well, things I was ashamed of expressing a month ago or so. Now I'm going there. Maybe there's going to be a day where I won't feel like talking. But I'm not feeling regret talking about these issues to the group. Today I sang nicely in musical expression and to that point where the woman who is with us, and coordinate the group complimented me for it. I know I can pull of a nice tone of voice, sometimes it comes with more tension other times I can come with a naturally nice voice. It depends of how I am feeling it, the moment I mean, in my body. With tension and embarrasment, a little bit more relaxed etc. I don't sing profesionally. I don't feel like sharing other achievements, maybe that I'm talking more positive or a little more racionally to myself...
@LifelD239 It takes a lot of courage to be vulnerable, getting out of autopilot, and sharing difficult family issues in group therapy - especially when you are used to self-criticism. That is a big achievement! Singing nicely, receiving a coordinator's compliment, and shifting to more positive self-talk are great steps! It's ok to not feel like sharing other accomplishments, I think it's great that you shared the things you did!
Thank you for your words @mytwistedsoul !!!! I know, I feel like is a lot. Thing is i'm not feeling ashamed of sharing all of this in the theraphy group. Other times I had hard times to procesa all but now it's like people there won't judge me i think and more common stuff.
@LifelD239 You're welcome 💜 I'm glad you've found a safe space with the group! I wish you all the best on your healing journey!
@LifelD239
Hi, sorry i'm late to the conversation. I read your post earlier in the week And wanted to take a minute tell you how much courage it takes to open up like you did.
I'm really glad you're not feeling regrets when you're talking about these issues with the group. That is so awesome.. We have a good group of people here, quite honestly, We have some hiccups too. I know it's hard for me to social in the real world and I like it here because it gives me time to think and talk. When other people talk about their things, I feel more real or validated.
It's good to talk about things and I hope you continue to share and continue to strengthen. Even with your personal therapy. Being able to sing is so cool and that's great you got complimented on it. I can sing out my soul, but sadly everyone runs for the hills and Coyote start wailing too...hehe.
But singing is awesome. Keep it up! I hope you have a wonderful rest of the weekend.
I know I shouldn't complain, but I am getting annoyed with the logistics of 7cups(again). I get alerts that there are new posts to the threads I follow, click on the alert then have to scroll through, sometimes days worth, of conversations to find the "new" post. This is greatly annoying to me, and to be honest, probably one of the reasons I stopped coming here months ago.....the tediousness of trying to keep up with conversations.....I'm not a coder, but how hard can it be to set it up so that when I click on an alert it takes me to the "new" post in that thread???? Ok I'm done for now.....sorry for the negativity and thank you for allowing me to vent here......
@CyclingThroughLife I don't think there's anything wrong with talking about things that annoy you and it's something we've all probably dealt with. It's one of my complaints too (along with all the ads) and we can't be positive all the time
@mytwistedsoul
You are awesome!

No Question About It!
(OK, Creepy GIF 😱)
@IsayUncle The hands 😂
@CyclingThroughLife
The tediousness of keeping up with the conversations. I totally felt the exact same way and almost quit too. I could not do that either and that is one of the biggest reasons that I have kept this one thread going. One thread, a good place to come and talk to. It's consistent and I try to make it dependable.
I know I start a new thread every week, but there's a rhythm and a system to it. I hope you enjoy it and I hope you find an anchor here because you really have a lot of good energy in hard times. We need that. 😀
The adds are real double edged sword.
I think the paid version is 7.99 or 12.99 a month And I think that's with no ads. Who would pay that if you can get all the benefits on the free version, So I get it, but I don't like it. There's a lot of people can't even come close to affording that kind of money but needs to be able to vent and talk and try to work things out.
I think @GlenM did a real good thing, Designing and starting up This site.
