2026 Week #2 - Disciplinary Accountability for Success (Monday 01/05/26 - Sunday 01/11/26)
Disciplinary Accountability for Success says it all. I have all that I need to be successful, Except for enough discipline. Without the discipline, much of my time and many of my days are wasted.
I want to be successful in Four Large aspects of my life, for 2026 & onward.
(1) Financial security. (I'm self employed).
(2) Family involvement. (I've been estranged for too many years).
(3) Reduce my weight by 65 lbs. (I'm currenty 6'2" @ 290lbs - age 60+).
(4) Self-Care. (Health, Cleanliness, Order, Faith, Generosity & Socializing).
This thread is an effort to force discipline onto my actions by admitting my accountability. It is a personal journey of hard improvements for the year of 2026.
Feel free to join in with your own story. I wholly believe in supporting each other for strength, understanding and camaraderie.
Week 1 2026 (link) + Reflection: Week 1 was a powerful week of reinitiation for me. Over the years my many efforts and strong routines got dilluted to a point of despair. Week one has renergized me.
In 2025, I used a lot of external noise to try to keep me motivated. That isn't a bad thing and it worked for a very long time. It's still an amazing stepping stone for progress.
But it was constant. News in the Morning, Music, no brainer TV shows for background noise, audio books and news podcasts with headsets while I was working my job..
All different kinds of noise to match my mood or for encouragement.
Last week I adopted a much more meditative state of silence while doing chores and tasks. It was not the whole time and it was nothing extreme but I can honestly say that I felt more at peace and more productive. I'm never gonna give up the media noise but I'm going to balance it with some personal silence while exercising intention instead of dread and escape.
I enjoy quiet myself a lot. I think you need time to process the noise and there is a lot of it.

Day 5 - Monday. (Week #1 was eye opening! And very satifactory)
I am astounded about how changing my mindset from all the D's (Dismay, Dread, Discouragement), Has boosted my endurance level.
I've started reminding myself constantly, about the intention, the purpose of what I'm doing at hand in addition, to doing it with, fervor.
I'm very thankful for this new mantra that I'm playing in my head throughout the day. Each task is done with intention, purpose and fervor. This mindset, is not allowing room for all the other junk in my life, to get into my head and discourage me, and wear me down mentally.
Days 6 & 7 of the year.
OR Days 2 & 3 of Week #2. These days were poorly executed. Discouragement overpowered Intention
January Weight Record: | Thu 1/08/26 288.7 | Wed 1/07/26 288.6 | Tue 1/06/26 289.8 | Mon 1/05/26 289 | Sun 1/04/26 290.6 | Sat 1/03/26 288 | 1/02/26 288.2 | 1/01/26 290lbs
Day 4 of Week #2: Today's primary goal = Substantial progress on Vehicle repair (Business related)
I must learn how to function productively in a constant state of tiredness.
OR
Develop healty habits to reduce this chronic tiredness I persistently feel.
OR
A little of both.
Oh no! I hope you are able to get some rest @isayuncle. You can't live on no sleep/rest.
I know how you feel though. I have a tax test I've been working on and it is very difficult with no sleep!
I've been reading the book. The one thing to help me get focused these days. There's a lot of goals-setting noise out there right now.
What is the one thing you can do right now that for by doing it everything else will be easier or unnecessary? (You can choose rest!)
@reservedOwl321
weWell I've given that some very serious thought and I've been thinking about the one thing that I can do right now to make everything easier or unnecessary.
@isayuncle It helps me to reflect on that question personally. If you can feel free to ignore it if it doesn't help you, but I used to have that on my to-do list everyday, even multiple times per day. It is stolen from the book I talked about.
@reservedOwl321
I must admit, I glazed over that question with a little bit of humor. But, at that time I couldn't think of what one thing was that would help me out. (It is a good thought/question to be present in)
I've given it a some thought and I think the one thing this year (and onward), is to regulate my eating habits to result in a slightly less weight on a weekly basis.
The reasons this would help me out so much, are:
1) It will bring awareness back into my daily world. (It's not just about eating, it's about routine too)
2) It will decrease my sludge habits and enhance more uplifting habits/actions.
3) It will reduce an enormous amount of strain on this aging body. I'm incurring more and more ailments and if I get myself down to a reasonable weight by the end of the year, Many things would be better.
So yea, No big gung ho diet with lofty goals.... just a responsible approach with awareness of the bad urges and habits. Reduce those and everything else will fall into place... (absolutely).
BTW. As I looked into surfing the urge, I saw a lot of cute diagrams and pictures, of the wave, with points, when things happen. I actually found long articles explaining the process. I didn't really need the picture, even though it was a good visual, But I really like the concept.
So I asked AI for a definitve quick reference worksheet regarding the Surf the urge technique.
This is the prompt I used and it gave me a great worksheet.
Create a step by step list Of actions to do, to Facilitate the, " surf the urge" Technique. Following, each individal step, explain, Why that step is important and what the advantages are for that paticular step.
(I'll probably do a thread just on this because it already helped me out, using the technique.)
Thanks for sharing these self help suggestions.... they seem to fit into my efforts nicely. 😊
Have a great weekend, and well wishes for work and healing!
@isayuncle I'm glad urge surfing resonated with you. It was something I picked up from the doctor. I'm not sure how I will use it. I look forward to learning more about how it helps you after you get the chance to try it out.
@reservedOwl321
Yeah, so I've been using it and it works pretty good.
I'm sure the intention was for urges like drinking and smoking and eating and etc like that, but the first step in Surfing the urge, is to put a label on your urge and I had a hard time doing that. I didn't know whether it was laziness or tiredness or wanting to sleep until it dawned on me that it was procrastination.
And that was the first step just putting a label on it No judgment or validation. No solutions. Procrastination I think is a little different than the standard urges but it's still a powerful urge.
Anyway paying attention to each step, with accuracy and mindfulness while breating / meditation has a calming effect, past the urge.
@reservedOwl321
I didn't mean to post that last comment, I hadn't finished. Anyway the one thing I can do right now to achieve that dynamic......
Is to develop magical powers. 🤣😂🤣😂.

@IsayUncle. I get it. Whatever it is I believe you can handle it. Hugs
