2026 Week #37 - Weekly Goal Sharing! (Monday 09/07/26 - Sunday 09/13/26)
I welcome anyone to commit to a goal here today.
But importantly, talk about getting it done..... or why it didn't happen yet.
To praise each other for our efforts and wins.
While supporting each other through trials and setbacks.
And to continue trying and not give up.
Remember:
Every Goal should be considered "Worthy".
Never belittle your achievements and be proud of yourself for your daily accomplishments!
Whether they be Complex or Simple.
Getting out of bed is a good day..... Good job I say!
Share your goals today, for support and encouragement.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do Your Best and Get Your rest.
Things are can be harder than what we first think. That's OK, You can do it. It's normal. Do your best. Be kind to yourself and Be kind to others.
(New requests and Old friends returning, are always welcome and encouraged to be added)
Do concepts still count as goals when there's little deviation from week to week? Not exactly important but I did my language app this morning! Missed the past two days. Not intentional. I was trying to get extra money. Never got to the store over the weekend but I was at least able to get enough to order a small pizza yesterday and still have money left over for a day bus pass (had to get coffee at a convenience store this morning so I could get $5 back. But I initially put the wrong card in). Going to try to get some extra money today so I can get a bus pass for tomorrow. My paycheck lands tomorrow evening. I have at least $50 for using that Internet meter but the last $25 I earned for completing steps hasn't cleared in my account yet so I can't withdraw anything. I had 750 points for another app (which was the minimum one had to have before redeeming for cash) but then I looked at the cash out options and you have to have at least 1,000 points before you can redeem for anything of value. Well there is a charity option which I didn't look at but I suppose that's how one can redeem the minimum 750 points.
There's another platform I use that's like that. You can get close to the value of the points if you use the Play store option but if you want to use any of the actual cash options, the redemption value is much higher and depending on the cash option you chose, there's also fees involved. I keep using it because I like the games and I may just focus on building up the balance for the Play store so that I can use it in a game for higher priced items that way I'm not actually spending any of my money. It's just the goals after a while are nearly unobtainable. Like one before will say reach level 250 and then the next one is reach level 1000. Maybe it's not strictly unobtainable but they usually have those spaced out unrealistically. Like you only have three days after reaching level 250 to reach level 1000. Who can actually do that? And usually, more than half of the levels you are expected to clear are either "hard", "very hard", "extreme", or "impossible" and depending on how the game is set up, it's nearly impossible to get past those levels without investing some money in items that will help clear the levels.
But, it's nearly time for me to sign in to work so I guess I should focus on that for a bit and build up my list of people who need background checks. Probably won't do any of them today since one site is closed for the holiday but at least I can complete my list.
I don't know if anyone can find motivation in my day today. Delayed taking the dog out this morning because I was trying to get enough surveys done to get me to $5 so that I could get something at the convenience store near my bus stop so I could get a day pass. I already had some money but not enough to get cash back. Thought I might get a candy bar or something but they want $4 for a bar that used to cost .50 when I was young and they were bigger!! Ended up getting a protein milk drink. There were the house brands that were cheaper but they had artificial flavors. I didn't want to get a coffee like the other day because I had barely taken a sip when the bus showed up. I was able to at least take a drink of what I bought today before the bus showed and my day pass from yesterday was still good so I was able to delay purchasing my pass until the second bus (which makes the expiration time later).
That has been all I've had today aside from coffee at work and tea. My refrigerator is really empty this time. What I had earned over the weekend was enough to get me a small pizza and I was able to make that last two days. I had one slice for dinner last night. Currently, my dog is eating better than I am. I'm hoping my paycheck lands at a reasonable time tonight so I can order something.
I didn't even take a lunch because there was no point in it and I was busy compiling my list of names for background checks. At least the work kept my mind off of hunger I just have to get to this evening and I'll be fine.
@Enthenia
*Do concepts still count as goals when there's little deviation from week to week?*
I would say they do with a caveat. I'll give my own personal example. I wanna do projects 1, 2 and three. I start on project one and it takes a long time but I get it done, project 2 Get started but never finished and project three never really get started because other things come up and I can't get to it.
Project two and three may get put On the back burner because of uncontrollable situations. But they are still goals. I have lots of concepts that I would like to do but I don't even start them because of numerous reasons, They are great ideas and they are great concepts and I just let him rest there until I have time to get started on them.
Eventually, they process into a goal and I may never complete that goal, but it's still a goal.
So I think the difference or qustion is, Is it a current goal, Is an ongoing goal, Is it a future goal And after that you have to make a decision whether it's a goal or if it gets categorized back down to a concept until you have time to make it a goal again.
And, as always GOOD LUCK with your money juggling, Apps and overall well being. That's crazy how expensive things are now. Last year, I noticed Every common little thing was $3 or more and now this year, everything is getting up to be in $5. You can't look at something without spending a $5 bill. And I mean something little like a candy bar. It is crazy stupid.
I go to the store and I say Oh yeah maybe I'll get this or I'll get that and then I look at it and it's either 3.50 to $5 for one little thing and it's like stupid I can't do it. I mostly survive on discounted foods but I noticed even at grocery store now, the outdated beef It is marked down to $6 a pound.
@IsayUncle well today I got my money for the bus at a different convenience store. Even though the first bus was late, I had enough time to get across the street before my connection showed up. I got some sparkling water that I've been wanting to try but not enough to pay $9 for a case (they had singles for $2 something which was cheaper than the drink I got yesterday) and I was able to get my $5 with like six minutes to spare before the next bus arrived. I didn't realize until after I put my $5 in that I could have used my previous pass one more time because it expired at 5:37 and the new pass start time was 5:37. I thought another minute had gone by.
Got the dog a new ball. She loves it. I wish I'd gotten it soooner. It's about the size of a child's soccer ball. It's even got the hexagonal shapes on it like a soccer ball but it's not one. It's made of some sort of material that looks like rubber but it can't be punctured. It's soft enough that she can pick it up, carry it around, and even shake it and then when she drops it, it goes back to the round shape. It's durable enough that I can kick it and I don't have to worry about it cracking from hitting the concrete border in the dog park (which is what happens to her other balls). I had to make her go home from the park yesterday even though she didn't want to. We have another heat warning this week (thought we were done for the year) and she was overheated. Then, once we got inside, she wanted to play more even though she really needed to rest.
I downloaded a new volume control app for my mobile. The one I had been using kept disconnecting I guess and the volume level wouldn't always stay where I wanted it. The new one seems to work better but it rearranged the icons on my home screen. It said it was going to do that. It has a small amount of icons on the home screen and then I have to scroll up to see the others which are alphabetical. I think I prefer this new layout. I like the smaller bar for the time and weather.
Got almost $5 on one of the survey pages again and I paid my past due balance with the college! I've been withdrawn because of not taking any classes for awhile but at least I don't owe them any more. I still owe on the student loans though. I got the dog's food ordered and I'm thinking about ordering a few colder weather items because this heat wave is not going to last long and all the things I brought with my from the old apartment are really too big for me.
I forgot to mention that I noticed at least three pay or quit papers taped to apartment doors while we went to the park this morning. Fortunately I didn't have that this month. But it seems like many people are struggling. One of the doors a notice was taped to belongs to a family. Don't really know them, the little ones were putting the trash out one day when I came home from work and then we saw them at the park Friday afternoon. A couple of them played with the dog for a bit.
Got my list of names compiled! Now all I have to do is put that information into the sites we use for the background checks. Once I get the reports back, my monthly assignments are pretty much done. I just need to put the reports in the right folders. Then I have nothing else to do for the rest of the month. At least, nothing work related. I can still do the games and surveys.
@Enthenia
That's sad about the other people too. Things are really hard for so many.... the old cliche, "the rich get richer and the poor get poorer" has never been truer than this point of time.
But with that said, We adapt, conform, don't lose hope and survive..... our hardships do not define us, I think our grace does.
I was wondering what you though about my perspective on this conversation, that i dove into, with your earlier post & my earlier reply. *Do concepts still count as goals when there's little deviation from week to week?* (No pressure, just curious 😊)
@IsayUncle well one of the apartments, I don't know if people are actually there. The paper was still one the door when I left for my bus this morning. The one beside it had the paper taken off the door.
I understand the point you're trying to make even though now I've forgotten it slightly. I left this window open and went back to doing work. Now Acrobat is updating and telling me it will take a few minutes to update even though it's already been a few minutes. Now it's even later than when I started typing this. and I've most likely forgotten everything. I think what my question actually was and perhaps it's my fault for phrasing it incorrectly--can something be considered a goal when there is no actual endpoint? That goes against the SMART goal process. I mean, the "S" in that acronym stands for "specific".
Maybe it's just me and that's entirely plausible.
@Enthenia
I I hope the one neighbor got things resolved and I hope the other one we'll be able to do the same.
About our other conversation. I get the feeling that you're looking at An entire large unbearable thing that doesn't seem like it can ever get done, and it's confusing you into thinking that it's hopeless. Or in your words, No end point.
So I guess if somebody stops trying because they don't see no end point, than They are choosing not to pursue that goal any longer. But it can return to goal status when someone tries again. So I guess it will not be a goal if no one is trying to do it, and it will be a goal if someone is trying to do it..🤔
So I think your original question was, if something does not have an end point can it be considered a goal? Like you alluded to earlier, maybe the question was asked inaccurately. I think the first part of that question, "if something does not have an end point" .... I cannot think of anything that does not have an end point, And even things without purposes have endpoints.
With that said, I think some things are so large that just thinking about doing them can be exhausting and it doesn't seem like there's any end to it. So I can totally understand and be strongly empathetic to that point of view about something not having an endpoint.
If something overwhelms us, It may help to understand, that it is a really hard thing we're trying to do. But importantly, if we want to do it, don't think it's impossible. I think it helps to try breaking things down into small steps and many goals. But the problem with that, is that it can take so long and be so tiring that we get discouraged. (especially after years of trying.... still a goal?, don't give up)
So I'm curious, What initiated this conversation for you? What do you think does not have an endpoint? I'm just asking in case you want to share.😊
@IsayUncle well the paper was gone from the door when I went by it this morning so maybe they weren't home for the weekend or something. But they went up either late Monday night or early the next morning. Not sure who puts them up. I think security but I rarely see the security vehicle.
As for the other subject, I'm probably in error for not having lofty, concrete aspirations. For a time I thought going back to school to get what I needed to move on from the job I'm stuck in was an answer but with moving and everything else, that got thrown to the wayside. By the time I get all my ducks in a row, I'll most likely be too old for any new venture.
Besides, I'm not particularly good at anything anyways but that's on me as it's always been. But now, it's almost time for me to start work.
My stupidity was in full bloom this afternoon. Got everything done at work with ten minutes before I was going to leave. Requested a couple of hours of vacation time so I could go to the healthy store and then the post office to get the mail because the debit card I reordered was supposed to be there.
Thought I had gotten some good things at the grocery store. Got some meat and some bulk items. They had chocolate covered almonds and I got a blueberry trail mix on sale. Didn't have to wait long for the bus and then I went down to the post office. It was warm in the post office but not entirely crowded. There was a line where one goes to pick up mail and packages so I put my grocery bags in a corner and kept looking back at them until it was my turn. Got my mail, which wasn't a lot but I had the debit card. Not sure what happened to a lot of my mail. I mean as soon as I had to change apartments, I did a change of address so I should have had a gas bill or something. Quite a few marketing letters weren't even for me but I didn't realize it until after the fact. I went and waited for the bus which I think was delayed and then I had to walk almost an entire block from the stop on my street to my apartment. Didn't realize until after I got home that the bulk items that had chocolate on/in them got melted because like the idiot I am, I didn't consider that while I was at the store and the girl who bagged my things probably assumed that I had a car (doesn't everyone have one?) so I had to put the bag of almonds in the freezer for an hour or so. The trail mix fared better. Only a few bits got clumped together. The dog and I took the trash out because it was too early for her to go out to play and I gave her one of the marrow bones that I had purchased for her. Had to get the more expensive brand because the ones in the cheaper brand's bag were way too big for her. And I couldn't figure out which price that bag was. That's the only thing I don't like about the healthy grocery store. Where they put the price tags on the frozen sections can be confusing and with eyes as bad as mine, I have to get close to read the tag which I can't do when there's a freezer bin in the way.
I did get a few things though but I will still have to go to the store across the street tomorrow to get things like salad. Didn't want to pay $4 for salad when I can get it across the street for $2 something.
Eventually took the dog out at close to five because the temperature was going to pretty much stay the same for the next few hours. Had to take the wagon with us because her monthly order came and an order I had placed which had a case of water inside. Oh. I ordered the leash that's supposed to be good for pullers. They only had a baby blue and a platinum color in stock so I got the platinum. Hopefully it will help like the reviews say. Loaded up the wagon with the packages before we went to play with her ball. She didn't stay out too long. Hot and humid but the trip back took longer because the wagon didn't want to navigate loaded down. Got inside and began to open the boxes. Did the dog's one first. She found her new ring. The squeaker is already broken in it but she didn't really care about the squeaker. Opened the box with the water and punctured a can because of how the box was packaged. Why put something that can break so close to the packing tape? Was already feeling incompetent and stupid by this time and that didn't make anything better. Also had to assemble a organizer for the bathroom and put up some tape lights that I got on sale. That instruction leaflet was almost impossible to see due to the font size of the instructions. Then I had trouble putting it up and removing the backing so it would stay on the wall. All the while the dog is trotting around with her toy in her mouth. The entire episode made me regret leaving work early.
And, just now, I very nearly lost all that I had here. Did something and wiped out everything but I was able to undo it. The stupid is strong with me tonight.
@Enthenia
OMG... When I first started reading your paragraph, I thought for sure you had forgotten your groceries at the post office or somebody had stolen them. I am really glad that here that we just melted chocolate stuff like that. In some scenarios that could be good news. 😜
Reading through your day, the word that comes to my mind isn’t 'stupid' or 'incompetent'—it’s exhausted.
Look at what you actually did today: you worked, took public transit in the heat, carried heavy groceries, retrieved your mail, hauled a loaded wagon with a case of water, assembled bathroom furniture, and hung lights with microscopic instructions. That isn't failure; that’s a massive amount of physical and mental effort for one afternoon. A punctured can, melted chocolate, and a delayed bus are just annoying daily frictions. They aren't reflections of your intelligence or your worth.
On the subject of goals: yes, steady practices without a finish line do count. A goal doesn’t have to be a flashy promotion or a degree to be valid. Sometimes the most vital goal in the world is simply stability—keeping a roof over your head, food in the fridge, and taking loving care of your dog. Showing up every day to keep life steady is hard work, and you are doing it.
Seeing your girl trotting around with her new toy proves you did right by her today. Put your feet up, let the freezer fix the almonds, and give yourself credit for carrying a very heavy load today."
@IsayUncle I was hesitant to read this. I did the daily things earlier today and then I was going to respond before I started dinner but the neighbor dog was out so I had to go out and shoo someone back in and divert her attention. I think she's at odds with that dog. She gets super defensive when it goes past but then whines once it's gone by. Had it happen earlier too but that was with the German Shepherd. Think she holds a grudge for it startling her twice.
As for all that I dealt with yesterday, it wasn't all that much. The shelf was a simple assembly job and this morning I had to rehang the strip of lights because I hadn't pressed down on them so they came unstuck from the wall.
Just, in the context of things, none of what is done, was done, whatever, really seems to matter.
And another reason why I was hesitant to respond was, I figured I probably handled things poorly. Wouldn't be my first time. It's a knack I guess. Got to the store with the dog this morning. Had to put some salad back because I was $3 over. Now I have to divert someone's attention again because she'd growling and barking but I can't see anything outside. The neighbor dog was out not that long ago. Could still be out I suppose. I don't know their walking pattern.
I have no idea what happened before I got her but she definitely does not like huskies except for one that I believe is a mix because she's smaller than my dog. Every time she sees a husky, she freaks out. Doesn't matter if its near her house or five feet away, she gets upset. The only other ones that she doesn't get too upset with are two that I knew from before I knew her and I think she senses that although we haven't seen those two dogs in a while. The owner has irregular hours. She did run into another Aussie over the weekend when we were coming back from the park. His owner has weird hours too. They were happy to see each other since it had been a few months.
I have gone off on a tangent. I wanted to say that I had opened up one of my grocery stores's websites because I was debating on whether I wanted to go to the one grocery store after work and get a few things then walk an entire block back to my place with the wind (blocks are long where I live) or if I wanted to wait until tomorrow morning and pay a higher price for a drink pack I was looking at across the street at the store where I bring the dog. Other things are cheaper there too. I initially got on the site because I remembered there had been a coupon for the particular drink brand but I couldn't remembered if it had expired or not. It had, but then I noticed that I had over a thousand points and clicked on that. It used to be that you could only redeem them for discounts on gas but apparently that changed. I can get discounts on groceries now. I can only redeem a thousand points a day but that works out to $10 so I redeemed it. Now I'll get $10 off when I go to the store tomorrow!! I know it's not a significant amount but when you're counting nickels and dimes...
@IsayUncle
id like to finish 5 books by the end of this year. not a lot but i haven’t been reading anyway 💔
