Motivation check-in / Introduction (10/22/23)
hello teamates, i’m sure that a lot of you may or maybe have seen me around, so i’d like to start of today’s check-in by introducing myself. i’m chyni, and i’ve been a listener since 2018. i’ve recently earned the 7 cups leader badge and i’m a forum supporter for the motivation & accountability community.
what i wanted to talk about today are goals, specifically goals-setting. so, what are goals, and why is it so important to set them? in a nutshell, goals are simply an idea of the future or a desired result a person or a group of people envision, plan and commit to achieve.
why is it important to set goals? simple, setting goals lets us create our future. it also helps us to grow and expand. it pushes us to change in ways that we never imagined. we need to know and feel like we’re achieving something in order to feel fulfilled. it could be a small simple task as “get more pens,” i guarantee you, the moment you tick off that box you get some feeling of fulfillment, that you did something today.

so, i have a little task of the day for you lot. i want you to, write down three goals you want to complete today. now, like i said before, could be something as simple as “get more pens” could be something more challenging, could even be something that you’ve been wanting to complete but have been putting off.
good luck with your goals today and i hope everyone had a marvelous weekend. 💜
@chyni make a good start on my next art projects
Sleep better than yesterday

@chyni yep my bunny looked at me disgusted and just hopped away😞 I don't think he likes dancing😁😂😂😂😂
@chyni my goals are:
1. practice more flute than last week
2. finish my mom's Xmas gift from last year
3. go to sleep earlier
@LucyGray1799
sounds great, self care is really important. also, what are you making for your mom?
@chyni
Hey chyni! Congratulations once again on your new role, you're going to do amazingly 💛
I find to-do lists really helpful for keeping myself motivated (and always write down the tiny tasks so I have the satisfaction of ticking them off!)
Here are three of my satisfying yet very small tick-offs from today:
- uploaded a folder to a shared drive
- printed off a document
- downloaded an app on to a few iPads for work
Small but impactful. thank you for the discussion prompt!

@chyni Congrats on your leadership badge!!
I completely forgot about these goal setting rules. Hmmm...
Specific: Get financially on track.
Measurable: After 4 weeks at $10/hr full-time 40 hrs/week I'll be back on track
Achievable: Not guarantied to get a full time job at $10/hr but one month is an achievable small goal to get the ball rolling.
Realistic: Getting on track in one month of staying at one job is realistic
Timely: I will continue to job hunt tomorrow with more earnest. I can't control hiring process's but I can set the start and end date once I get a first day.
@chyni
write down three goals you want to complete today.
1. Drink some choco milk
2. Be in bed by 11pm
3. Wake up at 6am
@chyni
