Need Some Goal Companions

I am doing a degree online and my G.P.A. is high enough to get me nominated for an honors society. I have done all the steps except for the last part the meeting of the goals. It's difficult to find people to set up a small goal sharing group with. I had time conflicts with my school's chapter and when I tried social media, I only got two responses in a fortnight.
So I thought I'd try here since this section is all about goals,otivation, and accountability (& because my chapter advisor sent me an email yesterday because I have not accomplished this task yet).
What I need is to come up with a SMART goal (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound)--well all participants would need to do that and then we would check back with each otherbon a weekly basis and see how everyone is doing on their goals. We'd encourage one another and offer suggestions of things don't seem to go according to plan. I'd have to fill out a generic sheet for the honors society (nothing specific, just about my goal in general) and that would be it.
Would there be an interest here? It's quite similar to things that are already being done.
Watched this video this morning on slow but steady progress. Small steps is one of my favorite coping skills. The video is about ten minutes long, but worth it in my opinion. I would love feedback on it.

Another morning of meeting my routine goals. I'm excited! And very thankful for you guys to have some accountability. :)
Hope things are going well for everyone.
@IchooseLife79
You're doing great..... Keep it up, like me... daily routine stuff builds a strong foundation. You got it today!
@IsayUncle
Thanks for the encouragement! How are you doing? How is the shoulder?
@IchooseLife79
Slowly better but not close to full function. Started physical therapy two days a week and that's already helping a lot, plus I'm using that opportunity strengthen my other arm also. Overall, going great! thanks for asking.
I'm interested in joining as well (:
@VivianTheCool
Welcome Vivian, glad to have you. What goal or goals are you working on?
I have some new paperwork to fill out for Voc Rehab (job program). The due date is April 17th so tonight I will read through the questions and determine how to break it up for each week. Fun Fun
Not my initial goal but I'm hoping to complete my paper for my fifth assignment today. Got a bit boadsided at work yesterday. Opened a report and a whole lot of customer names I've never seen before. All will have to be researched and they threw in a new tranaction element that we're supposed to monitor now. This makes my monthly report at least 25 names more than last month (still have 6 reports to view) and I'm now 5 days behind on the daily reports.
If I don't get caught up on those, a supervisor will have "words" with me. Even if I could work 25 hours a day and seven days a week, it wouldn't be enough for them..
@Enthenia
Definitely sounds like unreal expectations are being put on you. I encourage you to keep trying your best. It's all you can do.
@IchooseLife79 All I can do is keep at it. It is daunting because oftentimes best is not good enough in my work environment.
That's why I went back to school.
@Enthenia
Small steps, and make sure to keep realistic expectations on yourself. This morning I slept in some, but I refuse to shame myself for it. I had nightmares and was up in the middle of the night. We can only do our best. Hopefully, your management will see reason soon!
@IchooseLife79 Perhaps. I know I'm not the only one who feels that way. Of course I try not go get involved with anyone. Mainly because I don't have time to waste and secondly because of the cliqués in the workplace---which is much like high school. I figure if I stay in my corner, work, limit restroom trips if need be and agree to everything even when I don't, I minimize the risk of getting in trouble for anything.
@Enthenia
Its been a full month so far and I have finally have a date to meet up with a social group. Now to see if they can tolerate me and if I can find a reason to go back afterwards.
@Gettingbettertodayt
This is awesome! So glad to hear you have a group to join. What is the focus of the group of I may ask?
@IchooseLife79
Its a coffee chat group for Atheist's.
@Gettingbettertoday
Nice. Is this something you feel you will be able to chat about well? At least you can go and listen mostly right?
@IchooseLife79
The point is in interact as i have not made a new friend in 10 years.
I am only doing this because of my doctor. I don't have any enthusiasm for this. In fact just the opposite. Right now i would rather dig a deep whole, lie down in it and wait for someone to fill it in.
@Gettingbettertoday
I gotcha. Well I'm hoping this will work out great for ya.
@Gettingbettertoday I wish you the best. I'm not a group person myself so I can understand the apprehension.
@Enthenia
I made it to the Meetup. I stayed about 1 and 1/2 hours. As is expected by this group i introduced myself which included why I joined the group. Everyone was nice if not friendly.
Not sure if i will be going back.
@Gettingbettertoday
This is awesome! We celebrate with you that you were able to make a first step. What did you learn from the experience? Do you feel a little less apprehensive about another meetup group perhaps?
@IchooseLife79
I didn't learn anything new. I did remember one of the reasons i don't like large groups. When there is a large group trying to have a discussion inevitably the discussion will be dominated by 2 or 3 people that will either do most the speaking or drive the direction of the discussion.
As for being apprehensive in the future my expectation is that there will be no change since i am still sick from this weekend.
@Gettingbettertoday
Remember, one step at a time. You made it to a meeting. That is good. We are here to support you however we can.
@IchooseLife79
I feel worse than I have in months. I am literally sick to my stomach, sad, weak, and feel like leaving for good.
How do people accomplish this? At one time I could speak to groups even if sometimes it was difficult. It’s not like it was back then at all.
@Gettingbettertoday That's good! Introductions of some sort are standard for that type of thing. I don't like doing introductions but maybe since the initial meeting is out of the way, it won't be as awkward.
@Enthenia
I don't care for being the center of attention. This sort of thing i don't even like to do at work.
I got an email from my university's chapter for the honors society inviting me to be a part-time chapter supporter. I haven't looked at the email completely yet but there would be some leadership training. I don't consider myself any sort of a leader but it would be good to have on a resumé.
My immediate plans however is to review my course material over the weekend because I have to take a practice exam and write a paper on Monday (that's the last day of the course). Unfortunately, Monday is also the day when the tasks for my job are due and I've already been spoken to about falling behind (& I have said why it takes me so long. Workload, application crashes, etc. They don't care)
Today there was a bit of a mishap. Was playing with the dog and her squeaky ball and somehow it hit the candle warmer which happened to be near the computer and got wax on the screen and keyboard. Got the wax off but now the screen doesn't work. However, I had a monitor that my job made me take home for when we worked from home (which I can't do because of the dog) and a docking station. The computer is good; I just had to hook it up to the docking station and I can see things. Some of the keys don't work on the keyboard but I can get another one for about fifty which is cheaper than a new computer. The good thing about the monitor is that it's much larger than my screen on the laptop so when I read the material online tomorrow it will be a lot clearer for me. I've already got the site saved so I can get on it tomorrow.
And, I won't be completely slammed at work on Monday. I have until the twenty-sixth which is Tuesday. I am swamped most of the time that I don't know what day it is. I just know that there are two days when my alarm doesn't go off at 4 a.m.
@Enthenia
Oh wow. You got so much going on. Kudos to you! You can do this :)
@Enthenia
I just saw this post, and it's amazing!
I know it's too late, but can I join now as well? 👀 Is it still going?
@daydreammemories You can join! Even tough I got my initial objective completed, there are other things to work on!
@Enthenia
That's great! Well done!
Well, my goal would be, ummm, to get an A grade in this semester, and to not fail anything. 😁
@daydreammemories
Welcome daydream :) So did you read the part about smart goals? How can you break down your goal into achievable small steps?
@IchooseLife79
Yes. Umm, well I think that would mean to focus on one course at a time. But I also have a presentation and translation project, as well asm some practical exams. So, those should be on the side of one course work at a time
@daydreammemories Thank you! I got my certificate in the mail yesterday but haven't opened the package. I was trying to complete a mock exam for my final assignment for my current class which is due today
There was a practice exam in the book but no answers so I didn't know what my score was. Fortunately, I found an application that has practice exams and I took one last night. I didn't score high enough to get the certification (if it was an actual exam) but at least now I can write the paper and get it in before the deadline.
@Enthenia
You continue to impress.
🧐 Good Focus!
@Enthenia
I understand, good luck! :)
@daydreammemories I got the paper submitted AND I'm going to get my work assignments done done (just have 3 left and they're mainly data entry). If people had just let me work on my own, there would have been bo need for panic.
@Enthenia
So glad to hear
@Enthenia
😁👏
@daydreammemories
I think it's an awesome thread too. I hope your studies go great and your grades skyrocket!
Study, Study, Study, Have fun, Study😁
@IsayUncle
Aww, thank youu!! 😊
So in case people were wondering, the docking station I got isn't compatible with the monitor but I got two monitor stands and that seems to have helped because I didn't have connection issues over the weekend. The external keyboard works and I discovered that I only had to download one new application. The software I used for the first Java couse is what I'm expected to use in this new course. I should check for updates though since it has been a while since I did the download.
I opened the new Java app for my mobile...just basic stuff right now on it but I plan to work through more before I embark on my first assignment for the new course.
I got through another section of the practice lessons for the ComTIA+ mock exam. The acronyms and technical terms (like what type of cable is normally used for a Ethernet connection?) are confusing but the certification would be a good thing to have.
@Enthenia
WOW, what a way to overcome obstacles. I'm really glad you shared that with everyone today because sometimes people don't know how much hard work it takes just to get to the hard work.🤣.
You are nailing it and I hope you're success with the JavaScript is monumental. Give it the time it needs, you are going to do great.
Your inspirational.... Stay at it, you got this.
@IsayUncle I don't know about inspirational. Other wvents that have transpired in the interim make me feel quite overstated (maybe overrated?) I guess but thanks!
I am hoping to get the first project assignment done this weekend when the dog is asleep. Been working on trying to understand the structure but the new app is just giving me the basics right now.
@Enthenia
No. not overrated or overstated. Forging forward is inspirational..... and so, that's what I see you doing. little bits to you, big bits to me. Don't matter.... forging a path forward, despite your discouraging job and finding time for some good pet love.
I hope you get your project done. That should make you feel really good.😊
So how is everyone doing on their goals?
I'm still working on making it every day but I'm happy with my progress.
@IchooseLife79 I read part of the required reading for the Java class but I'm going to have to backtrack to earlier chapters because it's not making sense. Fortunately, I have until Tax Day to get the assignment done.
@Enthenia
Well that stinks. Is a week and half enough?
@IchooseLife79 yes. I think I need to download the crib sheets for the command. So many to keep track of.
@Enthenia
You got this!
@IchooseLife79 hopefully! I found two sites with cheat sheets. Nothing to download though. There are 61 keywords exclusive to the language that one has to keep track of on top of the commands. But maybe these pages in conjunction with the apps will help me enough to get the first assignment done.
@IchooseLife79 I remembered something last night that I should have remembered earlier. But my basic class was back in July and I've had a lot of things happen since then.
I can construct the code in Notepad at work then send it as an email attachment to my personal email account and run it through the software on my computer at home.
I can also look up the resources at work providing I am caught up and I have less distractions there (no pets)
