The 10-Minute Challenge (An ADHD trick for everyone)!
Hey everybody!
I recently learned about a trick often used in the ADHD community called the 10-Minute Rule. It helps when you feel paralyzed or overwhelmed by a task.
A wonderful orca suggested it would be perfect for anyone struggling to get started, or procrastinating, so I wanted to propose a challenge here for us to tackle as a group!
Pick one thing you've been avoiding. Commit to doing it for just 10 minutes.
The trick is: You don’t have to finish. Once the 10 minutes are up, you have full permission to stop and go back to relaxing, unless you find your flow and want to keep going!
1. Reply with what you’re going to do (e.g., "I'm going to fold laundry for 10 mins").
2. Go do it.
3. Come back and reply to your own post with "DONE"
If you go beyond the 10 minutes, let us know!
With that, I'll start ⏰ I am going to clear my inbox...

Have fun and happy productivity!
10 minutes to clean my room … that includes making the bed!

I cleared out 10 minutes worth of emails and photos :)

That's a big accomplishment! Thanks for the reminder, because I've been avoiding that too!

I'm catching up with 7 Cups notifications 😉
@RunningMachine
So much for 10 minutes, I'll certainly be returning to the Academy section, after i finish my book and Way of the River.
@RunningMachine
yay productivity!
@Heather225
I'm sure I spotted something related to 'time management' ð¤ªð¤ª
@Heather225 sounds great.
other could be 1. know in x time you will be doing one task, put distractions aside, do x task for the time that you can, maybe put music . do it if you can 10 mins or more, maybe 30 put time limit on how much if you tend to overdo, take a rest, talk a walk, if you need to keep doing it to progress try again, slowly understanding yourself, in a world with endless distractions is good to focus :)
@AuroraFoxSpirit
this is a great strategy too! I like the mention of understanding yourself. I am, as of this week, starting a new checklist system for myself and dedicating time to each in a deliberate manner, planning ahead to make sure I do these things. once you understand how your brain works and what it needs, things start to open up.
