Weekly sharing of Goals! Week #31 2024 (Monday 07/29/24 - Sunday 08/04/24)

User Profile: IsayUncle
IsayUncle July 29th, 2024

I welcome anyone to commit to a goal here today.

But importantly, talk about getting it done..... or why it didn't happen yet.

To praise each other for our efforts and wins.

While supporting each other through trials and setbacks.

And to continue trying and not give up.

Remember:
Every Goal should be considered "Worthy".
Never belittle your achievements and be proud of yourself for your daily accomplishments!
Whether they be Complex or Simple.
Getting out of bed is a good day..... Good job I say!

Share your goals today, for support and encouragement.

RECOGNIZING BAD HABITS THAT OUR FEED DEPRESSION
Do you do repetitive things that seem to lead to continued depression?
Do you do repetitive things to rise above depression?
Do you get tired of trying? (It's ok, that's just being stuck. you can get past that)

Sometimes we have situations beyond our control that causes great sadness and anxiety that easily leads us to depression.
Sometimes we have medical conditions beyond our control it also keep us in a depressive state.

And sometimes we just have some bad habits that we can control but think that it's too hard and these things create depression or add another level of depression to things that we are already dealing with.

It doesn't just have to be about bad habits that cause depression but also bad habit that get in the way of our goals.

AND don't forget to mention the winning days we conquered them.

Honorable mentions this week: @Tinywhisper11 @CyclingThroughLife

Yea, those olympians are pretty amazing. Sometimes it makes all of us wish we could fly like that too. But I would go "PLAT" and look like a cowpie!

Have you ever heard of or seen the Special Olympics?

Have you seen those all terrain wheelchairs that they have for disabled veterans. You can get them for anybody now, of course they're expensive. But I think they were initiated by disabled veterans that wanted to get out in the woods and stuff like that.

My responses here are more geared toward my employment situation because I feel that is what causes most of the depression in my life.....work causes burn out, which leads to depression.  The other thing in my life that causes depression is winter.  Seasonal Affective Disorder.  While this is a self diagnosis, each winter I find myself in my funk, hating life, hating the cold, snow, and everything that goes along with it.  I go through weeks at a time of mostly mild, but sometimes deep depressive states during the colder months.  I know there really is nothing I can do about this except move out of the northeast when I retire and my last child moves on with his own life.  It is what it is and I've just been dealing with it.

RECOGNIZING BAD HABITS THAT OUR FEED DEPRESSION
Do you do repetitive things that seem to lead to continued depression?
They say doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results is insanity.  Most of my depression comes from my job.  We do repetitive things at work that, in my opinion, do not help the goal of the mission.  Not having control and working under an administration that operates this way can be quite stressful and depressing.  Having to work this way day after day after day after day....well, you all get the point.

Do you do repetitive things to rise above depression?  I do not, because I feel I cannot.  Policy and Procedures require me to do things a certain way.

Do you get tired of trying? (It's ok, that's just being stuck. you can get past that) I'm so tired of trying I want to walk away from this career I've put so many years into, and throw away a nice pension.

AND don't forget to mention the winning days we conquered them.  I always forget the winning days.  Probably because there are less of them.  This is something I need to work on.

Yea, at work puts the kabash on any time for our own betterment.

But I know in your personal life you strive hard to do repetitive things ( cycling, motivational content, studying quotes and probably other stuff too) to rise above depression and that's good. It helps deter the immense negative energy you get from work.

And that also brings up recognizing our winning strategies. You are a winner because you don't quit. You have had some winning successes but they get diluted because of your hardships, which is normal. It's important to reflect your efforts to keep afloat afloat and in a better place even if you are still in a bad place..... If that makes any sense.

@IsayUncle A thought repeated a thousand times can began to look a lot like the truth to our mind. I did a lot of "worry works" thing but the deeper I went into it the darker the results became. Recently I've been using the same thing but with positive thoughts. Repetition sure does help cause at the end of the day your brain's the only one you have to convince.

@BlueDarkAurora

That makes a lot of sense. "Worry Works" seems to be like an invasive species that just grows in our brains.

I think it's great that you're able to recognize it and start to flip that switch to a lot of repetitive good works thinking.

Thanks for sharing that and bringing awareness that we have to be aware of the worry works and make a concentrated effort to thwart it's growth and go beyond itto better things.

I think I'm tired of trying. I seem to keep repeating steps anyway. Today I have an appointment at where I got my father's taxes done because his local tax collector didn't get them. Then I have to stop at the bank to check to make sure they finally closed his accounts. The accounts were supposed to close when I opened the estate account.  His GF waited months to tell me that she was still getting statements and there were fees. I had went in a week and a half ago and they couldn't close it because there was a hold because of the fees.  The people I'm trusting to do their jobs - didn't do their jobs. It doesn't help any feelings of not being able to trust anyone. I asked his GF every week if there was anything that came for him in the mail that needed to be dealt with. She waits until I bring up about the inheritance taxes 😐 and then she has the nerve to say what a cluster fluff this all is. And I feel stupid because I should have known better and double checked all this stuff sooner

That is so frustrating. I celebrated in my heart with you when you're all done with that stuff. I too thought, done done and done.

I Stopped trusting people long ago in matters where their negligence will cause me grief and time.

But still, just an everyday activities a simple notification or a caring thought that might make something easier always seem to be ignored by others and the hardship falls back on my lap. I'm not like that but I have to live with that from other people and I just don't understand it.😕.

I'm really sorry you got jammed up on that matter hope you get that mess cleaned up soon. You got this. Have a better day today than you did yesterday. 👍

@IsayUncle Thanks Uncle. Hopefully the tax stuff is ok now. They gave me a copy to send to the collector in his area but gave me the wrong address lol. So a few calls later and now - fingers crossed - I'll take it to the post office and it will find it's way to where it needs to be. I made a copy of it in case it doesn't 😅

I don't understand it either tbh. Kind of reenforces why it's hard to ask for help
Thanks! Hope you have a good week!

I think I got tired of trying a few years back but I still go day by day. For the animals mostly although I have one who wasn't around a few years back.

I just try to deal with things each day even though a lot of stuff does fall back on me. Like, I could have chosen a different job, or done better at saving, or scrapped everything like breaks, restroom visits, and getting water to be the automated machine management apparently wants me to be. I know much of that is a contradiction and if I could, I would just seek opportunities elsewhere but that's a whole 'nother challenge that I don't think I'm prepared for.

Right now, I'll just try to get my current class finished and deal with my job even though I'm not an automated machine. I sort of remember the anxiety I had when I was trying to find a job before I got this one but I don't think the feeling was quite like how I feel now. There's just too many conflicting statements and actions even though they want consistency. It's inconsistent consistency and it seems like any suggestions get swept under the rug and ignored.

Wonderful start to the work week. Sticky notes opened full-screen & I couldn't minimize it. Reset it and promptly lost my notes. Searched for ways to recover but the notes that existed up until this morning weren't in any of the locations so I had to redo them and choose a new password for one site I use a lot. Trying to find a 10+ alphanumeric and special character password that is fairly easy to recall with minimal character repeats is hard

And now two network files aren't opening even though I'm on the VPN. Just tried switching the gateway and now I'm waiting for the computer to catch up. Still not letting me. I was forced to change my password recently and apparently it hasn't been updated in the Active Directory so it's not allowing me access. Naturally, it's something I can't fix and if I don't pull these reports from the networks soon, I'll get in trouble (again). Right now restarting my computer in hopes that fixes it.

That's beautiful. I wish I could have been there with you. I made a playlist of the songs that were listed and listened to them all this morning, feeling your profound sadness (making me sob) Sending you tons of love, faith and hope.

You must be exhausted. I think it's a good time to rest now. I love you.

I won't be around, until later this evening because I gotta go to work now. Be easy on yourself sweetheart.
