Weekly sharing of Goals! Week #35 (Monday 8/28/23 - Sunday 9/03/23)
I welcome anyone to commit to a goal here today.
But more importantly, talk about getting it done or why it didn't happen today.
To praise each other for our efforts and wins.
While supporting each other through trials and setbacks.
And to continue trying and not give up.
Remember:
Every Goal should be considered "Worthy".
Never belittle your achievements and be proud of yourself for your daily accomplishments!
Whether they be Complex or Simple.
Getting out of bed is a good day..... Good job I say!
Share your goals today, for support and encouragement.
@KristenHR @CyclingThroughLife
Good morning you guys and gals. I know our work weeks are different but a fresh start is upon us. I wanted to take a minute to thank you so much for contributing to this thread and to me actually. It has helped me considerably.
Even though I had a rough week last week, I found myself really looking forward to see how you all 's weeks we're winding down and how you guys made out. It's kind of a fun endeavor doing this with other people.
Just a big shout out and thanks for all of us I guess, for reaching out and supporting each other with encouragement and understanding. If other members start to participate I hope we will lift them up and support them too as we have with each other here.
As I really looked forward to the end of the weeks progress and comments I am equally looking forward the start of this week.
With no further ado let's try again.😊
Committing to my goal? When my goal has no zeal but I know it's important I seem to hesitate to commit to it.
I think this week is all gonna be about paperwork, with the bus list and my own personal finances and paperwork. (I just noticed I started the sentence off with "I think"). That is not very committable.
I'm feeling very contemplative. I read somewhere or heard somewhere that when we are setting goals we should separate them with this consideration; we should differentiate between the fact of them being important or being urgent. It may not seem like a big designation but to me thinking about it like that, there is an important distinction between the two.
A Couple weeks ago my paperwork was very important to get done but somehow, probably because I dreaded it, I haven't done it yet. So now it has become urgent!
It is urgent now so I must get those done this week.
My Goals in Writing and with Commitment:
1. Finish bus list up to current date!
2. Finish all personal and business paperwork!
Weekly goals:
-At least 30 min workout each day except Sunday.
-I have an old wooden 2 tier shef on wheels in the garage thqt i would like to refurbish for another project. Id like to start that
-I want to research enclosing my porch so I can make it a 3 or even 4 season space
Not much more right now which makes me happy....
All these will be hard due to prescheduled commitments this week
@CyclingThroughLife
How's things going this week?
For me, I finally got that bus list done. I know it doesn't seem like much but it was a real spur in my side. I haven't gotten my bills or paperwork done. My bills are paid but not my personal paperwork or business paperwork.
Happy Labor Day weekend man. I got four days off so I'm gonna try to do a big project on my property. Cut down 4 trees and clear a lot for more storage and organization.
I see your progress on your exercise thread. Great job! That's the way to keep it up and try to keep other people motivated too. That's really awesome.
Work Hard Or Work Smart Or Both ?
Sometimes in our efforts to be smarter about doing something because we mistake smarter for easier; we end up outsmarting ourselves and causing more work and wasting more time than if we just jumped in there and got it done.
Always choose to work hard first and then experience will teach you how to work smarter but that doesn't mean you should ever stop working hard.
Answer: Work Hard .... first and foremost.
2 Questions: Does working smarter mean making the work easier? And if so, should we ignore hard work if we cannot find an easier way to do it?

Sometimes the work just looks too difficult to even get started, and this would be a time to just get in there to work and get started.
@Helpyhelper10564
Whichever is needed and used to get the work done in a timely manner.

My above comments are related directly to this link that another member posted in the motivation thread. I posted it here because I was having problems over there but I finally got it figured out.

Good Morning and happy Friday....Been a busy week for me at work. I've been working late almost every day, training my new supervisor. Yea, you heard that right...how does that happen lol......anyway, having him there has already made my life a bit simpler by taking some things off my plate. It looks like this thread has been pretty dead all week. I hope things are well with @KristenHR @ISayUncle and anyone else who may be hanging out here, silent in the weeds. I have faith that you will accomplish anything you had on "your list" this week.
Here is my progress thus far:
-At least 30 min workout each day except Sunday: Monday 30 min elliptical, Tuesday 14 miles on the bike, hills ride, Wednesday missed due to a Dr. appt that ran longer than expected, Thursday 25 miles on the bike, Today is a planned weight session and Saturday I plan on doing some Kayaking...goals met
-I have an old wooden 2 tier shef on wheels in the garage thqt i would like to refurbish for another project. Id like to start that: I changed the project a bit. I did paint and get things started for the project but not the actual shelf I had planned to use.
-I want to research enclosing my porch so I can make it a 3 or even 4 season space: Done. I wasn't into the price tag but I have ideas and options. If I do this project, it won't be until next spring
-Add on: I performed routine maintenance on my bike
Weekend projects(actually todays projects because I plan on being on the lake most of the day Saturday with the Kayak)
-Weekly Yard maintenance
-Trip to the recycling center(Sat morning before the lake)
-Payday so I need to balance my accounts, pay bills, and all that jazz
-Weight lifting session
-New month means updating calendars, making sure my wall calendar and planner match...something about writing out and using old school paper makes me feel good. I also still use my phone in a shared calendar so my girlfriend, who is all about technology, can have an idea of my things.
That is my update for the day. Todays motivation from my daily motivational app:
"Remember that failure is an event, not a person"
Keep your head up, smile, chip away at those goals......you got this
@CyclingThroughLife
You and I just posted at the same time🤣. I just commented on your last week's post so now I'm going to read this one.
@CyclingThroughLife
Yeah, I haven't posted because I've been just trying to stay focused and getting her done. It sounds like you've stayed on a pretty even keel man. That's very good.
Good to hear from you again, thanks for posting. These formats are weird for me with the way the threads are set up. I don't know if I'm imposing on someone else's thread or taking over the conversation or something if I talk to someone else other than the author. I absolutely don't feel that way on my thread I just wish everybody would just talk to each other but other threads seem weird. The only reason I'm telling you this is because I see you on the exercise thread because I think exercise is a good thing to keep track of but I don't comment too much over there because I don't know what the etiquette is really. Anyway no big deal and great job on your exercise diligence. As always we do the best we can to keep pushing forward and hopefully paying it forward too.
I'm afraid I'm biting off more than I can chew this weekend, starting off with cutting down 4 trees today.
@IsayUncle
I am right there with you about the confusion on the threads, who I'm answering and all that. Most of the time, I feel like I'm hijacking a thread with my answers and opinions when I do answer. I have a tendency to be wordy also. Too much to get to a point if you know what I mean. With that said, there are a lot of posts and threads I read and either write an answer/response that I later just delete and don't send, or don't do anything at all.
Thanks for the props on my exercise diligence. I have always been a big exercise/wellness guy. I'm just doing what I do in that department.
As far as you biting off more than you can chew....take it one tree at a time. Do what you can do. I have confidence you can accomplish this mission....
Sunday: Today is the last day of my week. I reflect the past three weeks. I have worked on several things well but I have not completed many of them.
I have a workshop area that consist of two good size shelters or buildings. They need organization with shelves and then to be stocked with all the stuff that I have to put in them. It was a big accomplishment this year to get the two buildings there because the land had to be leveled and excavated and cleared and then buildings installed or move there. I was ready to make good headway on the organization of the buildings but then my generator broke. So now this is an undone project with the addition of repairing a generator. (SO,,,, IN LIMBO)
I have a partner that I do side jobs with but sadly he's not feeling well. We both really don't know how to move forward with this and just hoping for the best. Even though I have much concern, this is another development in the past few weeks that is keeping me... (IN LIMBO)
My paperwork takes a backseat to the physical work that needs doing so all my paperwork it's still uncompleted and (IN LIMBO) at the moment. The only thing that I've completed in the past few weeks was my bus list that I was working on so hard.
I got a little bit of land next to my workshops that I wanted to clear out to make room for turning around trucks and trailers. This has been I'm going project for several months and I was hoping on this four day weekend that I can finalize it and finish it. With equipment problems, 2 broken hydraulic lines; it has caused me grief because now I'm halfway done with the job but I got my driveway completely blocked with fallen trees to where I can using it all. (SO,,,, IN LIMBO). I did get some of the land cleared and fell four trees but not being able to finish it, is problematic.
So, today is Sunday and I am not sure which direction to go. Tomorrow's Labor Day but with all the stores closed, i cannot get the parts needed to fix the backhoe.
I'm able to do some work with the backhoe so should I do that, or get my other tractor going with a new battery and changing the attachments. Or should I work on my generator and get my shot into a more usable space? Perhaps do my paperwork and forget about my driveway being blocked with a bunch of felled trees.
I had a helper come yesterday and cut down the grossly overgrown weeds around my house. I live in the country and mostly out of sight and in the past few weeks I've had no time to do yard work and you couldn't hardly see my house or anything that I was around my house for weeds that we're 6 feet tall or better. So that felt good to get most of that cut down and feeling civil now. But overall that's another thing left undone. Yard work - (IN LIMBO)
SUNDAY 6:30AM:
Just Get Started.
SUNDAY 9:00AM:
I'm still in a bit of a daze walking through a haze but I did get some food in me and plenty of coffee, got myself cleaned up and dressed for the day.
I should clean up the kitchen and do some laundry but I think I'll get outside and work on my equipment some....
Just to keep moving.... hoping for the best to happen.
SUNDAY 11:00AM:
I went outside and worked on the tractor some. That was good. I was glad to see that my battery wasn't dead in my small tractor and so that worked out well.
I Got a little tired though so I came in and snacked, watched a little TV. I Think I'm just gonna stay inside for a little while and clean up the kitchen and get some things sorted inside the house. I got a friend coming over later to help me with the backhoe.
SUNDAY 1:30pm:
Well, a friend came by and we looked at the backhoe and decided that it was OK to run with the leak as long as we kept an eye on the hydraulic fluid level until we can get it fixed. Where it is leaking, it shouldn't blow out and cause a big problem.
I have to admit that we enjoyed a few drinks together and I'm feeling a little bit more relaxed than I was this morning but now he's going back about his business and I gotta go back about my business.
Now that I feel better about using the backhoe, I'm gonna go down and see where I can cut these trees and start move them out of the way and figuring out where to store the good lumber.
