Weekly sharing of Lofty Goals reduced to reality, #28 (Monday 7/10/23 - Sunday 7/16/23 )
I welcome anyone to commit to a goal here today.
But more importantly, talk about getting it done or why it didn't happen today.
To praise each other for our efforts and wins.
While supporting each other through trials and setbacks.
And to continue trying and not give up.
OMG.... So much to do and so many sticks in the fire!
I get tunnel vision on a project and cannot multi task so everything else gets behind and then I stuggle playing catch up. Usually my tunnel vision projects are lofty ideas thst never end and I never really complete.
This week is playing catch-up.... be warned.... I have no life but my dreams and tasks. (and dogs lol)
Today (Monday) 1) General house tasks, dishes-clean kitchen. 2) Call about insurance. 3) Get chainsaw fixed.
Most important - (A biggie - Work related) get equipment and load backhoe to deliver and unload.
4) Call about tourism meeting. 5) Make shopping and errand list.
6) and so much more! 😕
It is Monday evening and I had an awesome day of running errands and getting tasks done. It was a good start towards an uncertain goal of the week.
I think my goal for this week is to put out as many fires as I can without starting any new ones.
What are my fires? 1. Finish shelves in quonset Hut and reorganize hardware. 2. Repair brakes on car. 3. Overdue housework. 4. Overdue paperwork. 5. Retrieve tractor. 6. Doctor's appointments. 7. Start planning basement job. 8. Remove transmission from van.
This evening I drank a good bit of caffeine charisma and it's still light outside. I think I'll go get some wood together to finish those shelves in the quonset Hut.
@IsayUncle I have to tell you this is all so unbelievably relatable! Too many different things going all at once and I bounce in between them all. I think I have a fear of completing things 😕 and there's never enough time in the day. I started painting the living room months ago. It's like 95% done lol. Some touch up and a molding strip behind the couch. Idk if I'm lazy or just distracted all the time. Maybe both 😬
I'm gonna be your cheerleader if that's ok 🙂

@mytwistedsoul
THANK YOU... That was so uplifting this morning! Thanks for the validation too 😊.
So, it seems we do have a lot in common in this area. Talking about painting the living room, it's like I relate to that too. It seems like I do all the heavy duty work and then when it comes down to the finishing touches, I never finish. I read somewhere that it's kind of a mental thing or mental block and I agree with that on some level (like u said, "fear of finishing').
I don't really understand it so I guess that's why I post it here and try to add an element of commitment and obligation. Once I write it down where people can see it I guess there's a sense of accountability that I want to accomplish and that helps me out a lot.
Thank you so much for your encouragement💚, and if I can return the favor I'd be glad to.😃.
Feel free to share a weekly task you'd like to finish.... like moving a couch and finish the last little bit. 😂. Also about distractions.... totally get it.... "new shiny fire over there" lol.
Thx again for the cheerleading. 😉
@IsayUncle You're welcome! 😁 Maybe the heavy work is the brunt of it? The really noticable stuff? With the painting - the walls are done - who needs trim? Or the touch up is only noticable if you get close or are looking for them and who visits anyway? I joke but those are thoughts I've actually had lol
@mytwistedsoul
(Joking aside 😅) I kind of agree with you completely about the fact that if it's not important to finish then don't worry about it. But if it kind of nags at you, gotta get her done.😕
So good job getting to it, I'm glad us talking helped!
I kind of had a horrible day but I stayed at it and by day's end I got enough done to make me feel better about starting today. A 1 1/2 hour job on the car took me like 6 hours just dragging my feet, working for a few minutes and then resting for a long time etcetera etcetera. I did finally finish it and I got started on my shelves down in the workshop so overall, it turned out OK.
TUESDAY MORNING. (Having a hard time pop starting my motivation motor)
But.... Pushing and pushing myself out the door to repair actual car.
Remembering my main goal is to tie up all my "OLD + lingering loose ends by the end of the week. I know new ones will pop up faster than weeds in a manicured lawn but those will be for another day.
Today is to fix car and build shelves along with some household domestic stuff.
I continue to welcome others to share thier personal stories and efforts too.
WEDNSDAY MORNING. (Doing poorly yesterday is giving me more motivation today.)
Today's Priority: Continue building storage shelves in Quonsot Shelter
I continue to welcome others to share thier personal stories and efforts too.
Here's a great thread from @soulfullyabutterfly about perseverance and grit.

THURSDAY EVENING:
This is a weekly goal. Today's Thursday, the end of Thursday which means I just got Friday Saturday and Sunday left to achieve my goal.
I've done pretty good was getting a couple big projects done but it was at the cost of reflected mundane household chores. I go to bed now, my household mess will be there for me in the morning and I know it will effectively eat up the whole day that's not to do anything else substantial.
I'm very tired but also very determined to reach my goals this week answer I'm gonna try to pull an all nighter and get my house in order. It doesn't have to be an all nighter but it will be a long night lol.
I'll be using this post and venue to self motivate or be accountable for not getting her done!
7:54pm: Start dishes.
THURSDAY EVENING: Continued
I finished my dishes and it is way past my bedtime But... GRIT and "Coming back to it" is ringing in my ears.
I went grocery shopping today and I always buy discounted foods which means I gotta process them quickly. That usually means packaging them into individual packs and freezing them. I try to keep bread out of the house for diet reasons but I do enjoy my breads and sandwiches. I can usually afford only the cheapest of the cheap brands and so when I ran across a discount bin, of high end breads, buns and rolls; I couldn't resist. Along with the couple large packs of chicken wings and my bread selection I have to get all that packaged up in the freezer so I don't have to do it tomorrow.
I'm first gonna start some laundry so it is washing while I am working.
THURSDAY EVENING: End
I did not finish a whole day's worth of house chores in a few hours but I did manage to give me a good starting point for tomorrow. I'll come back to it tomorrow with a little more eagerness because of what I did this evening.
FRIDAY MORNING
I have two very strong goals today.
A real biggie is to start working on the transmission on the van. If I can get that jacked up and blocked up high enough so I can crawl under it easy, that'll be a very good first step.
Secondly, I'd like to make significant progress towards putting my domestic things in order and completing as many as possible. (Clean kitchen, Do laundry, Sort recyclables, Sort fridge and freezer, Call insurance company, Change dog beddings, Vacuum and sweep floors.)
Making big progress on that van transmission is a big deal for me because it's something I've been needing to do for about a year and it will be significant towards making money with my side work. It being listed in this week's goals was purposeful for more a meaningful commitment.
@IsayUncle Sorry to hear the other day was horrible but I think it's great that you stuck with it. I can totally relate to the dragging of feet lol. Like how long can I stall? For what it's worth I think you're doing great with everything! Persistently persevering *fist bump*
Household chores *shudders* ugh. There's allways something that needs done in the house. The biggest problem here is disorganization. Omg there's stuff every where. Started organizing the attic allmost two years ago I think? Still not done. Ran out of totes and never got more. Kind of a weak excuse . Anyway lol as I ramble along 😅
Today I took care of some weeds and cleaned out the science lab *refrigerator* and *drumroll please* finished painting! There's animals and stuff that were taken care of too
Good luck with that transmission - stay safe!
@mytwistedsoul
You made me laugh with your light hearted post, thanks! Especially the part about how long can I stall? That's exactly right and I don't know why we do it but I guess it's all part of it😊
Great job on your progress and a big yay yay on the painting.
And I know what you mean about the totes, time just flies, that's all. 💚 Arrrrrgh about the organization too. I spent all day cleaning up around my van because It had become a salvage junk collection area and so I never even got to work on the van but I did get the van area cleaned out and organized and just a little organization always feels good. 😃
@mytwistedsoul
I just wanted to take another minute to say, you really did good yesterday! 😃.
Dis-organization can really be horrible but I've learned to try to look past it and keep the eye on the prize. Always with the mindset that anytime I can get something organized I'll work on it but no longer do I let the disorganization cripple me 100%. I now look at the disorganization as a part of the chore or task that I'm gonna do because I found out, it seems, whenever I wanna do a chore or task there's several things I gotta do just to get to it and then by that time I'm tired and I don't get to the task...... So I've changed my mindset a little bit so I don't get so discouraged.... I make the pre-organiztion part of the task or chore.
If I don't get the task chore done, at least I got a little more organized and that's a big deal. Lol😂.
I have four wonderful dogs. What animals do you have?
