Learning guitar
Hey! Ive recently started to play guitar and my teacher is...um...not good. Does anyone here play guitar?? If so, do yiu have any tips on how to get the F chord down?
@brenbird
Wow, that's great 🥰
I hope you learn how to play , and someone here , whose not me sadly 😁 knows how to get this cord down 💛
@brenbird I’ve been playing guitar for 6 years now, if you want someone to talk with you I’m here!
Hi @brenbird! I also play guitar and I have trouble with some chords. I play a variant of the F chord, in which my first finger is on the first fret of the E and B strings, and the other fingers are placed like I'm playing a C chord.

I've been playing for about 6 years now, and I only recently learned how to use barre chords (bc I was lowk scared lol). I think the best way to play F is to use a barre chord. This method is actually very helpful for many different chords as well!
If you just smash the side of your index finger along the first fret of all the strings and then place your ring finger on the 3 fret of A, your pinky on the 3 fret of D, and your middle on the 2 fret of G, it will look like an E chord.
Your pointer finger acts kinda like a capo. You can use this trick along the fretboard to make a bunch of different chords, and you can also use it on the A string with an A shape. You can also use this pattern to make variations of chords by making an E variation shape (idk if i'm explaining it well, but I mean for example if you want to play an E7 or an Em you would change the shape of your last three fingers to the shape that the chord would regularly be).
I hope this helps! It's difficult to explain in typing lol
