Help: Supporting a romantic partner with OCD

Anyone with OCD: what do you need from a romantic partner? If youre currently with someone, what are the best ways they support you?

My boyfriend has scrupulosity/religious OCD. Hes tried CBT, ERP, mindfulness, and currently new medication, but nothing seems to help. He often feels very hopeless. I do my best to stay positive and be supportive, but I also deal with my own depression and anxiety, so it sometimes feels like Im not able to do anything.

Any form of encouragement is appreciated :/

@Catalinagrace heya!! How's it going??

i can relate to your post alot... the way it feels when you see that someone you care for is feeling hopeless and you can't seem to be actually helpful... :"")

But as i've experienced, the best thing to do is just to, first, be aware of your selfcare cause it is much easier to help another one when your feeling good inside, and second, just being there for them and staying positive really helps, be a reminder of the fact that you are both gonna get trough it and won't let OCD or anything else fade hope...heart

When I had OCD it was not so hard on my partners since I never blamed them, but did things for them so in a way it was appreciated, house tidy and their things tidy without them having to move a finger...

My OCD I lost when my major depression started but what helped me with OCD was traveling and changing environments and being with many people in work environments, it made me loosen up on my obsession even if it gave me a mental state of confort and security and I still had the tidiest desk in the office😶 but I never tried to impose things on others😶.

I wish you succes on your journey with your partner and tgat you find methods that work with/for them , just do not give up😊
